Chapter 84: then translation of chapter title

~7 min read 1,322 words

Ribbit ribbit

Three domains collided, and the invisible ripples spreading out made Fu Guang lift her head to look at the center where the domains met.

Xiguang bore the brunt of the enemy's attacks; although he was down to low health, as a light-type he endured far longer than the dark-side fighters had expected.

When the Heavenly Pillar descended, he was the first to bear the impact.

The water falling from the sky was no longer gentle; it was harder than stone, sharper than metal, arriving with the force of moving mountains and overturning seas—more dangerous than he imagined, yet that was all there was to it.

Although the poison pool in the domain constantly spawns poison dart frogs without consuming much energy, it is simply too slow.

The newly arrived shark people, after eating who-knows-what, had recovered most of their strength; the seabed ultimately belongs to the shark people, and we cannot delay any further.

From the dim, greenish seawater emerged a hunched figure, his black clothing enveloping him entirely, his aura heavy, and the three whites of his eyes revealed a cruel stare.

His pale hand stirred the poison pool, and green toxic water slipped from his fingertips.

Countless red, yellow, and green poison dart frogs crawled out of the poison pool, puffing their cheeks, 'ribbit ribbit,' jumping out nonstop.

There were countless A-rank poison dart frogs, plus a few S-rank ones mixed in; the water in the poison pool seemed to be made of the frogs themselves, and as they left, the water level dropped, revealing a dark, submerged edge.

The last tiny poison dart frog, smaller than a fingernail, had a membrane over its eyes that slowly slid back; it opened its eyes, its whole body a deep black, then it left the poison pool and leapt onto the pale hand.

With a flick of its six wings, countless wind blades formed instantly and sliced through the nearly endless poison dart frogs, cutting them all to pieces.

Xiguang hovered in midair; fortunately the poison dart frogs couldn't fly, so although the pressure was great, it hadn't reached the point of utter desperation.

A golden barrier around him blocked the incoming poison darts; he steadied himself, and the faint odor on his nose became intense.

He closed his eyes to listen, the sword tip turned slightly, and in an instant his longsword, imbued with wind and thunder, slipped from his grasp and shot forth.

Like a sharp arrow.

The poison dart frog that stepped out of the darkness was instantly struck, turning into a puddle of poison.

Xiguang's eyelids twitched; he didn't hear the sword blade slicing through blood, and in an instant he shifted position, beckoning his longsword back to him.

Ribbit ribbit

The frog cries came like waves, so that all he could hear beside him was 'ribbit ribbit,' with no other sound.

The silver-haired man snapped his eyes open; before him rose a wall of poison dart frogs three meters high, and at that very moment a frog kicked off with both legs and lunged straight at his face.

The poison dart frogs' breeding speed lived up to their nature; in less than thirty minutes the ground was nearly covered with tiny frogs, their cheeks puffed, eyes fixed in unison on her direction.

Never mind the potency; the damage to her eyes was severe.

Fu Guang tapped her toes lightly on the ground, her body floating upward; thirty minutes passed, and as she continually dodged, her stamina drained rapidly, her calves tingling—whether from fatigue or toxin invasion, she couldn't tell.

Fu Guang carefully avoided the frog gathering spots, looking toward the edge of the domain; most of it had already been overrun by poison dart frogs, leaving her little room to run.

Fu Guang lifted her foot cautiously; an A-rank poison dart frog happened to jump from beneath her foot, moving like a ghost. She then sought out a stalk of millennium coral, half-corroded by toxin, to hide from the ribbiting.

She curled her lips; this person was a major poison dealer, raising so many high-level little frogs, likely a centuries-old coot.

"Be careful." Xiguang had just sent a message; over there the enemy was likely launching a full assault, and with his remaining strength he should be overwhelmed, temporarily held back, unable to spare a hand to help her.

That person should have come to find her.

Fu Guang pulled an oxygen mask from her space, took two sharp breaths of fresh air, the clear air flowing down her nostrils into her lungs.

After prolonged activity in the darkness, her dazed mind cleared a little; having been soaked in water all along, she felt as if she were about to become waterlogged.

Of course this was just psychological; the three S-rank defensive gears were waterproof, so they wouldn't make her feel waterlogged—indeed, her fingertips showed no signs of prolonged soaking, only whitened wrinkles.

Ribbit

At that moment, every poison dart frog in the domain croaked in unison, 'ribbit.'

A chorus of croaks filled the air, the uniform sound waves momentarily syncing with Fu Guang's mental energy, leaving her mind blank for an instant.

After quickly regaining her composure, Fu Guang swallowed the 'ribbit' at her lips, then shot away like she'd stepped on a flying device.

The sentinels here are truly born warriors, every combat technique mastered to perfection.

Sound waves have echoes; wherever the echo is off, that's naturally where the person is.

Compared to an S-rank sentinel's speed, she could never match it, but she still needed to find a place advantageous to her—at least one with fewer frogs, otherwise each frog's bite of poison would have her riding a crane westward.

Above and below, the clanking of chains accompanied the domain's crackling collisions, prompting Fu Guang to accelerate her pace of life and death.

In the distance, golden sword light flashed incessantly, while a torrent of green poison kept gushing out.

"Where are you going?" a hoarse voice brushed past her cheek, and suddenly Fu Guang saw before her a figure just like her, clad in a black cloak.

Her speed was great, leaving no time to brake; the distance closed rapidly, and Fu Guang's eyes hardened—just as her pale hand touched the black cloak, she instantly unleashed a water escape.

A blonde girl emerged from behind the poison dart frog, backhanding a dagger that flashed with a sharp edge, using her recent speed to slash past his neck in a flash.

Sshh.

The black cloak was lightly torn,

The sentinel hadn't expected a guide to stand his ground instead of fleeing, but rather to come kill him; his reaction was half a beat slow, yet he instinctively swung his hand backward to strike.

Fu Guang didn't stop to check whether the strike had succeeded; she instantly reactivated her water escape and shot sharply to the right.

Fu Guang revealed her figure not far away, a trace of blood at the corner of her mouth; even though her defenses were layered, the fierce palm strike and incredible inertia still injured her flesh.

"Your reaction is the finest I've seen among all guides."

"The poison dart frog" then lifted his head; beneath the black cloak was a pale face, he licked his lips, seemingly unfazed by the prey's resistance.

"Still, no matter how excellent, you're bound to die." The creaking sounds grew louder, until it could no longer bear two S-rank attacks at once and began to sway on the verge of collapse.

"The poison dart frog's" face darkened for a moment, then immediately broke into a smile.

"Not just you, but your sentinels as well will perish together because of your weakness."

I will let you live, let you watch with your own eyes as I slowly devour your spirit.

Fu Guang's eyes narrowed; she paid no heed to the other's threatening words, until a "croak" sound rang right beside her ear.
