Chapter 41: The Natural Barrier That All Riflemen Cannot Cross

~7 min read 1,385 words

Compared to Tyloo's dismissive attitude toward VG, VG was much more serious, with several people talking and reviewing established tactics.

Although they were currently in the winners' bracket final and had another chance to fight back even if they lost, what they cared about more was whether their new lineup could break through past shackles.

Advent was very serious about this; apart from the first day when they celebrated Jiaoyang's first match victory, the five of them had not left the base.

Aside from sleeping and eating, they spent all their time in the Training Room, dedicating almost every waking hour to studying Tyloo.

This included educating Jiaoyang on the habits of every Tyloo player, the tactics the team liked to use, the maps, and so on.

In terms of map bans, VG had a huge advantage; in the entire Asian CS scene, only they could be called proficient at Nuke, as other teams were too lazy to expand their map pools.

Tyloo was the same, so they would always first-ban VG's Nuke.

And VG would ban the only map they didn't play, Cache.

Next was to select three maps from the original three, Train, and Overpass.

Tyloo liked to play aim-heavy maps like Dust 2 and Mirage, while VG preferred the remaining three maps that tested team coordination and tactics.

With one pick and one ban remaining, it meant Tyloo could only choose from the three maps VG liked to play.

This was the importance of the map pool!

After confirming in the matches against 8EASY and PG that Jiaoyang's performance on Inferno was no longer an issue, Advent leaned toward picking Inferno first.

A strong map; there was no reason not to pick it.

Very quickly, the three maps for the match were confirmed.

Just as expected, Tyloo formulaically banned Nuke and chose Mirage.

VG formulaically banned Cache and chose Inferno.

After comparing Train and Overpass, Tyloo banned Overpass.

VG banned Dust 2, and finally, Train remained.

VG: Advent, aumaN, zhokiNg, Kaze, Ori

TYLOO: BnTeT, xccurate, somebody, Attack, Summer

The match officially began, with map one being Mirage, and VG starting as Counter-Terrorists.

There were no complex tactics in the Pistol Round; Tyloo simply steamrolled the A Site defended by three people, showcasing the raw strength of the number one team in Asia.

The second round went straight into an ECO Round—

"I'll throw a flash, you guys go full ECO, one wave through Middle," Advent issued the command.

The other four understood; this meant a fast group push to force a Long Gun Round.

This kind of round didn't require any talk of entry fragging or re-fragging; it was just a few people rushing together.

Just as Tyloo's VIP Smoke was thrown, a large amount of footsteps could be heard in Middle.

Somebody, who was controlling Middle, didn't think much of it and wanted to go out for some stats with a self-flash.

As soon as he went out, he was blinded by two consecutive flashes, but VG had long been prepared for his flash, having one person hug the wall of the Middle alley and turn away.

In no time, the blinded somebody was tapped to death.

And xccurate, who had pulled out from the Terrorist Entrance thinking he could clean up with a re-frag, didn't expect a fierce warrior from the opposite side to suddenly dash past his teammates and fire.

The unique sound of a P2000 rang through the Middle of Mirage, announcing xccurate's death.

"Holy crap, huge profit, two AKs." Jiaoyang was rushing at the very front and was the first to reach the guns they had scavenged.

"Nice, go save the guns."

"Yeah, Liang Dui, you and aumaN go save them, we three will try to get another one." Jiaoyang agreed with Advent's suggestion and threw the gun to aumaN behind him.

"Huh?" aumaN made a sound of disapproval.

Who are you looking down on?

Generally speaking, whoever scavenged the gun kept it; the latter part about trying to get another one was clearly discriminating against his and Advent's aim.

Saying that, he threw the gun to zhokiNg behind him and followed Jiaoyang as they rushed toward Feijia.

【BnTeT used UMP-45 to get a Headshot on aumaN】

【BnTeT used UMP-45 to kill kaze】

【Ori used P2000 to get a Headshot on BnTeT】

"No, you were clearly standing at the very front, why were we the ones who got hit???" aumaN complained.

Picking up BnTeT's UMP-45, Jiaoyang hurried toward the B Site where Advent and zhokiNg were saving guns, responding on the way:

"Who knows? Maybe I just have better luck? The opponent put their guns away too confidently."

Just as the two were chatting, Advent's voice came through: "Going B..."

Before he could finish, Advent was dead, but zhokiNg went god-mode at the White Car, spraying down two Terrorists attempting to sneak out from the second floor.

It was actually a full ECO upset.

Jiaoyang couldn't help but mutter to himself, Tyloo's discipline was really too poor...

Are they even capable?

Don't tell me I won't be able to fleece the system anymore after this match?

The score was 1:1, and the third round began.

"Jiaoyang, give me the UMP-45." Advent naturally made the request.

As the Commander, whose aim was usually mediocre and status low, he was responsible for handling these junk weapons.

However, Jiaoyang looked at the 【God's n0rb3r7】 mission: Make the team sniper's AWP usage rate greater than 50%.

To complete such a mission, not having money wouldn't work.

Shaking his head, Jiaoyang said righteously: "Liang Dui, you buy normally."

Turning his head, he tossed a big sniper rifle to kaze: "I have plenty of money, kaze, take the sniper."

For a moment, the other four in the team felt a mix of emotions; the star player taking the worst gun—

Jiaoyang, you guy...

Kaze held the brand-new Sniper, feeling emotions that were hard to put into words.

Since it had come to this, he would just have to let these people from Tyloo taste the power of his Sniper!

AumaN tacitly used his USP to tap at the Dog Hole, and Kaze skillfully slipped into VIP.

Bang—

Xccurate, holding a Desert Eagle, fell at the Terrorist Entrance.

Not giving the opponent a chance to trade, he jiggled back into cover, worked the bolt, and swung out from cover again—

Eh? Where did they go?

Kaze looked at the empty Middle, only hearing the sound of the car king echoing throughout the map, while the top right corner was already filled by Ori.

"I was wondering why you were being so kind, turns out you're just here to farm stats, huh?" AumaN, who had jumped to check B Site only to see absolutely nothing, sent over a jealous roar.

"Do you understand kill rewards?"

Jiaoyang didn't care about stats at all; he had never had low stats anyway. Instead, the 900-dollar kill reward from Submachine Gun kills was extremely important for his mission.

Money is room for error!

He wanted to ensure that the Sniper could have a Sniper rifle every single round!

On the other side, Tyloo didn't have this kind of banter; on the contrary, the Training Room was filled with a stifling atmosphere.

This time, BnTeT didn't step up to rally the team as he usually did, but simply observed this newcomer from VG.

As he saw, this Ori was very wild, wild enough to ignore common sense and often do things that defied logic.

Having studied so many demos, he discovered that this player Ori really disliked throwing utility and had a special fondness for dry-peeking breakthroughs.

Whether it was the 5-man gamble Retake against 8EASY or these two rounds of mindless Rush, none of it was the old VG system.

It had to be said, this style was actually very similar to the Tyloo he was on.

If he hadn't already made arrangements with others, and if Ori didn't seem so tied to VG, he would have been quite happy to reach out and give it a try.

It was just that, as an opponent, he had already found a way to restrict him.

That was the chasm that all Rifle players could not cross—the hold-angle Sniper.

Taking a glance at the completely oblivious Xccurate beside him, BnTeT sighed.
