Chapter 343: I Found It
Hearing Li Yuning's deduction, Li Hao could not help but gasp; this meant that the cruel child who killed Hu Mo and Zhao Zheng did not appear by accident, but was very likely summoned to that location by design—it was the result of human manipulation.
Li Hao gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "This organization, that Miss Hong, must be expelled from this world; they are a scourge to humanity."
"Besides that, I have other discoveries." Li Yuning did not comment on Li Hao's thoughts and said, "Zhao Qian must have been subjected to Mental Pollution only today. The time frame is very short; to reach the point of going insane without completely losing the ability to function requires precise manipulation, such as abilities like spells or incantations."
"Although the people from that organization were very cautious, they still left traces of their activities in the villa. I found a tissue with lipstick wiped on it in a bathroom on the second floor. I checked Zhao Qian's cosmetics, and she doesn't have that lipstick shade."
"……Is it that detailed?" Li Hao was stunned, somewhat surprised by the young girl's investigative ability.
Li Yuning smiled slightly, "It was all taught to me by an uncle. Compared to that uncle of mine, this bit of ability of mine is nothing."
Li Hao was speechless for a moment. He glanced at the scenery outside the window and discovered that his car was parked in a forest on the outskirts. He had seen this scenery on the road while driving to Zhao Qian's; it should be near the villa where Zhao Qian lived.
At this moment, Li Hao noticed a strange thing, "Wait, why am I here? You drove the car!?"
Li Hao looked at Li Yuning in shock, his pupils shrinking; he could only think of this possibility.
Hearing this, Li Yuning put on an expression that was both embarrassed and somewhat proud, nodding as she said: "Mm, I drove."
"……Didn't get into an accident, did you?" The moment Li Hao thought about how his life had been controlled by a girl of suspected minor age with unknown driving skills while he was unconscious, his heart twitched violently, but after thinking about it calmly, he suppressed the urge to complain.
Li Yuning shook her head repeatedly, hugging her arms as she said: "Although it was my first time driving, it felt quite simple; it was only a little faster than a bumper car."
Bumper car……
Li Hao had to be thankful that he was lucky, and that the area near where Zhao Qian lived was sparsely populated, with almost no one passing by; otherwise, this young girl might have really turned it into a bumper car.
"By the way, how should Zhao Qian's villa be handled? That place must be very dangerous." Li Hao decided to change the subject. He moved his arms and shoulders; he had been kicked away by Li Yuning at the time and crashed into those Abnormal collection statues of Zhao Qian's. Although there was no broken skin or puncture wounds, they were likely bruised from the fall.
Li Yuning smiled and said: "No need to worry about that, I already burned it all down with a fire."
"Burned it down!?" Li Hao looked like he was about to jump up.
Li Yuning said as if it were a matter of course: "What else could I do if I didn't burn it? When an Investigator deems the situation too serious, they don't choose to preserve any evidence; they destroy and dispose of it directly."
"Like Zhao Qian's villa, which was just like an Abnormal Item Museum, and her already extremely polluted corpse—every item there had the potential to spread pollution. Burning them all down directly was actually the most appropriate course of action; there was no need for any research."
Li Hao: "Will you report what happened today to the Xuanmi Group and the Investigator Organization?"
Li Yuning saw what Li Hao was thinking and smiled: "I will report it. The Abnormal incident that occurred in Baizhou City this time may need to have its rating changed; the hazard level must be raised to at least Mysterious Grade."
"If that's the case, then Zhao Zheng's matter should also be officially defined as an Abnormal incident, right?" Li Hao let out a long breath, feeling much more at ease internally, "I might not need to continue investigating this matter anymore."
"Yes, Uncle Li, you've worked hard." Li Yuning smiled. In fact, ever since finding that Abnormal Flower Vase at Zhao Zheng's house and obtaining information about the Baizhou City Socialite Gathering, Li Hao didn't need to risk going deeper. She knew that Li Hao was forcing himself to continue the investigation, possibly out of a desire to protect her, but judging by the process, he hadn't succeeded and had instead almost become a burden.
Li Yuning didn't mind Li Hao's burden; on the contrary, she appreciated this Enforcer uncle even more because of it.
After hearing this, Li Hao seemed moved, but he said nothing. After driving Li Yuning back to the hotel where she was staying, he returned home himself.
The first thing he did after opening the door was turn on the entryway light. Looking at the messy single room he lived in, he felt as if he had drifted back into a dream of the past—the three-bedroom apartment where his family of three used to live. Every time he returned from work, he could see his daughter jumping around the house. Just a moment ago, he seemed to have heard that crisp, bell-like, lovely laughter again, but the cold, messy, and even slightly foul-smelling room of reality dragged him out of his fantasy.
"Starting tomorrow, I'll clean up the room." Li Hao said with a smile.
Having met Li Yuning, whose personality was similar to his deceased daughter, and having gone through another life-or-death experience, Li Hao suddenly felt that although he couldn't say he had let go of the things that trapped him in the past, they would no longer be a burden that stopped him from moving forward. He decided to try to walk out of the gloom.
Li Hao rubbed his stomach as he entered the room, feeling a bit hungry. He dug out some instant noodles from the cupboard, intending to get through dinner that way; he was truly too tired and had no mood to cook.
While waiting for the water to boil, Li Hao heard his doorbell ring.
Li Hao looked at the front door in confusion, then glanced at the phone on the dining table; it was already eleven o'clock at night.
Would someone come to visit at this hour?
Whether it was professional instinct or the nervous sensitivity after just experiencing an Abnormal incident, Li Hao picked up his pistol before slowly walking toward the front door.
"Who is it?" Li Hao tentatively asked the person standing outside the door. He saw two shaded areas in the door gap; they should be the feet of the person standing outside.
Hearing the sound, the doorbell stopped, but the person outside remained silent. It was only when Li Hao approached the entryway that he heard the person outside speak, "It's me, Team Leader."
It was a familiar voice.
Li Hao was stunned, then relaxed his body somewhat and opened the door. Sure enough, he saw a familiar face and said with some surprise: "Why is it you, Little Wang?"
This person was none other than Wang Han, who had left the Enforcer team today and gone alone to search for the elusive Forest Cabin.
Li Hao was not only surprised that the other party had come to find him so suddenly, but even more shocked that after only one day, the other party looked as haggard and worn out as if he hadn't closed his eyes for several days, a stark contrast to his high-spirited performance during the day.
The expression on Wang Han's face was extremely complex, but Li Hao could still barely make out a hint of surprise on that slightly panicked face. He lowered his voice and said: "Team Leader, do you know? I actually found it!"
