5. The Truth

"I am very sorry for deceiving you, Miss Yu Lianyun." The waitress unbuttoned her clothes as if no one else were around. Once she took off her shirt, it turned out she was wearing a black tight-fitting leather suit underneath. "After all, you have been deliberately avoiding us, so we had no choice but to resort to this."

Yu Lianyun's expression was uncertain. After a long while, she sighed and said, "What do you need me to cooperate with?"

"It concerns the autopsy you and your father performed half a month ago, on that nameless female corpse unearthed from the outskirts of Jiunian City." The pale man with a dangerous hairline got straight to the point. He took out a photograph of the nameless female corpse. In the photo, the corpse was as beautifully chilling as it had been in death, the red wedding dress as bright as blood. "You must still have an impression of the corpse in this photo."

The pale man seemed to suddenly remember something and gave an apologetic smile. "Right, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is He Jia'an, and I am their team leader."

Finally, as if emphasizing a key point, the man repeated twice: "I am thirty-two years old this year, only thirty-two years old this year."

"I can tell." Yu Lianyun revealed a dry smile, her gaze involuntarily sweeping over the man's sparse hairline before shifting to the woman who had previously disguised herself as a waitress, and the tall, square-faced man standing beside her.

"Li Yingqi," the woman smiled slightly.

"Wei Jiang," the tall man nodded in greeting.

Yu Lianyun nodded, pondered for a moment, and said, "Since you have come for this corpse, I assume you are already aware of the bizarre nature of this body."

Although He Jia'an's hair was in poor health, he possessed an approachable, compassionate face; looking at his face alone, he could actually be considered handsome. He said in a calm tone, "We hope you will tell us the details of the autopsy and your experiences over these past few days."

The other party's noncommittal attitude made Yu Lianyun imagine that the Xuanmi Group must have suffered quite a few losses because of that nameless female corpse; otherwise, they would not have approached her only now.

Clearly, at the very beginning, they could have made contact with her immediately. She had even taken the initiative to seek them out. The Xuanmi Group had plenty of opportunities to reach her, yet they had never done so, appearing completely indifferent to her.

Thinking of this, a cold sneer emerged in Yu Lianyun's heart, but on the surface, she pretended to be recalling the events, telling the three people from the Xuanmi Group the same story she had confided to Lin Ling.

After she finished speaking, Yu Lianyun stole a glance at the expressions of the three people before her.

He Jia'an put on a contemplative look, while Li Yingqi and the square-faced man beside her exchanged a brief look. Their reaction made Yu Lianyun's heart skip a beat, causing ripples in her state of mind.

A moment later, the first sentence He Jia'an spoke made Yu Lianyun's eyelids twitch.

"Do you mind telling us the real situation, Miss Yu Lianyun?" He Jia'an said with some helplessness. "If you are unwilling to cooperate, we might have to do some things you would rather not have us do."

As he spoke, the square-faced man, Wei Jiang, comforted her with a straight face: "Don't worry, Miss Yu. We are just specialized personnel handling Abnormal matters. Whatever moral or legal issues may have arisen from your actions in this Abnormal event, we will not pass any judgment."

Li Yingqi also said in a gentle tone: "That's right, it's just a matter of having caused the death of your own biological father, at most..."

Yu Lianyun felt the hairs on her body stand up. She stood up from her seat all at once, but she discovered that she was trapped within this small room of a few square meters, with nowhere to escape. Her throat felt dry as she said, "You, you all..."

Seeing this, He Jia'an sighed and began to recount the information they had collected: "Actually, as early as after the incident with you and your father, our people had already clarified the cause of this Abnormal event at the scene. On the surface, it seemed to be a ghost or spirit incident, with the restless soul of that corpse causing trouble; in reality, it is not. There are no such supernatural powers or spirits as in those horror stories in this world; there are only supernatural phenomena that cannot be explained by existing science for the time being."

At the scene where the female corpse was discovered, we actually found a meteorite from outer space with a texture similar to raw jade. For some unknown reason, the radiation that had originally existed in large quantities within the meteorite had already disappeared. Later, we discovered that it had actually transferred into the body of the female corpse. Subsequently, we even discovered that the so-called 'Ghost Marriage' ritual circulating in the ancient mountain villages of Jiunian City was actually quite similar to a certain matrix from an ultra-ancient civilization used to guide special radiation energy.

And in these past few hundred years, the Yin Marriage ritual has only succeeded that one time. We speculate that it is highly likely due to the uniqueness and rarity of the meteorite.

When the ritual is successfully performed, the matrix guiding the meteorite's energy turns an object into a medium connecting to the Different Dimensional Space. Therefore, that female corpse carrying the meteorite's energy is now a window opening to two dimensions. Anyone who has been in contact with the nameless female corpse for a relatively long time will be discovered by creatures from the other dimension and subsequently targeted.

We are also encountering these Other-dimensional Creatures for the first time, but from the sensory experience of the contact, it is highly likely that they harbor malice and aggression toward the human world. They create hallucinations for people who have had direct contact with the corpse, trapping humans within a certain spatial range. Then, in this process, they slowly inject their power into the bodies of the humans trapped in the hallucinations, gradually transforming the human body into a structure suitable for their survival, and finally transferring their consciousness into the human body.

Several members of our Xuanmi Group suffered great losses because they were unfamiliar with such opponents, and they are now trapped in deep hallucinations, in imminent danger."

Speaking of this, He Jia'an put away his gentle and refined demeanor. He took a cigarette out from his pocket; he didn't light it, just held it in his mouth, and said with a bit of a rogue air: "Miss Yu, you are the only one with such a special experience in this Abnormal event. Everyone who has touched that corpse is now trapped in a prison. Even if they were discovered in time and dragged out of the influence range of the corpse's magnetic field, those people still cannot wake up from the hallucinations, remaining trapped in infinite madness, unable to extricate themselves."

"Only you, Miss Yu. Although your body is being forced to endure the erosion of the Other-dimensional Creature's power, your consciousness remains clear."

"At the beginning, we also suspected whether you had already been occupied by an Other-dimensional Creature, so we did not dare to approach you rashly. We are sorry; we are not arrogant or heartless, this was a necessary precaution."

"But after a period of observation, we found that you indeed have not been occupied by an Other-dimensional Creature. Therefore, we only officially decided to make close contact with you today, and we want to learn from you how you managed to escape the control of the hallucinations at that time."

Hearing the full story behind He Jia'an's explanation, the horror in Yu Lianyun's heart slowly subsided. Her expression went from shock to sudden realization, and then to her current state of conflict and contemplation; it was as if the four seasons had passed across her face.

Seeing that Yu Lianyun was slow to respond, He Jia'an sighed and said to Li Yingqi, "Xiaoli, get ready, start the hypnosis."

Hearing this, Yu Lianyun gave a start. She immediately reached out to stop them, hurriedly saying, "Wait a moment, it's not that I don't want to talk, it's just that there are some things I don't know how to bring up. I am just organizing my thoughts."

He Jia'an laughed after hearing this. Even though he smiled like a living Buddha, it made the person involved feel particularly annoying. He laughed: "So that's how it is. No problem, you can think about it carefully, and then speak. You don't need to think about lying; our Comrade Wei has the ability to sense electrical waves and can see whether you are lying. Ahem... think carefully before you speak. You only have one chance."

Yu Lianyun glanced at the upright-looking Wei Jiang and gritted her teeth in frustration.

After pondering for a short while, Yu Lianyun sighed: "Team Leader He, actually, you were wrong about one thing just now. This world still has supernatural powers that science cannot explain."

He Jia'an frowned and asked curiously, "Oh? Then please enlighten me?"

"I am actually not the real Yu Lianyun." Yu Lianyun frowned, saying sorrowfully, "Strictly speaking, I am the owner of that corpse. My real name is Jin Xiu."

The three members of the Xuanmi Group all twitched their brows in unison. He Jia'an and Li Yingqi looked at the square-faced man, and Wei Jiang replied with a solemn expression: "She is not lying."
