Chapter 50: Summary at the End of Volume Two
Summary at the End of Volume Two
The story of this volume took the search for the orphan as its main thread, leading into a series of tales involving strange powers and chaotic spirits.
Honestly, I personally feel that my portrayal of the Alien God Kusuen and the extra-dimensional race Huogu in this volume was not good enough, and I feel somewhat frustrated.
But I know this is related to my inability to maintain a regular daily routine, as my real-life work is too draining and time-consuming; because daily life is miserable enough, it is difficult to have a relatively suitable, relaxed mood for writing, and my state of mind is inevitably somewhat restless. Even when pushing the plot forward according to the outline, I still end up writing with too much haste. I am working hard to improve this mindset and will try my best to avoid such mistakes in the next volume.
Now, following the format established in the previous volume, let's review the story of this volume.
The Eastern mysterious power that appeared in this volume is the "Gu Huo Niao"; presumably, some people have already guessed it while reading. The story background regarding it was also mentioned in this volume, so I won't elaborate further. Its image was inspired by the "Gu Huo Niao momo" created by a Japanese artist, but the Curse of the Gu Huo Niao is based on the folklore setting of "putting on feathers to become a bird, taking them off to become a woman," with the new addition that using the Feather of the Gu Huo Niao for too long will cause one to completely transform into a Gu Huo Niao.
Then there is the Guan Jiang Shou, Zeng Jiangjun, which is based on the Taoist ghosts and gods from the folk culture of the Minnan region (yes, although it is a guardian deity before Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, it is not Buddhist). The inspiration came from the Taiwanese horror game "Dagei."
The Cthulhu-style forces that appeared first are the Huogu, an extra-dimensional race that accidentally gained the ability of immortality, but they are cowardly and afraid of death, living in the shadows. Because they are afraid of being injured or having accidents, they dare not easily develop their civilization. Based on their racial personality traits, I designed them with an appearance similar to rat-men.
Next is Kusuen; there is no need to say much about the specific image, as the blueprint is Cthulhu, only this one appeared from underground.
Finally, I will mention that I actually prepared a rather heartbreaking ending for this volume's story. This heartbreak is not for the protagonist of this volume, but for a supporting character, but I felt it would leave people stunned, so I didn't dare to write it. If you all want to see it, I will put it in an Easter egg chapter in the future.
The next volume, "Encounter," can be simply described as another heaven-defying person following in the footsteps of Xu Xian, Ning Caichen, and Luo Shiyi...
Everyone can imagine what kind of "defying the heavens" story this will be.
