Chapter 10: Rapid Progress and the Forged Inheritance

~7 min read 1,249 words

In the quiet forest, a faint lightning glow suddenly lit up. A figure cloaked in lightning streaked through the woods at extreme speed, and giant trees, each one or two meters in diameter, collapsed in an instant.

The light and shadow came to a sudden halt, revealing the figure of Uchiha Feiyu. He looked back at the trees he had cut down; the short blade in his hand flickered with a faint light, as if it were a one-foot-long sword aura.

The weapon Uchiha Feiyu held was not made of chakra metal; given his financial situation, he could not afford such high-quality goods.

This short blade was actually just a standard-issue weapon. The reason it could possess such a sharp sword aura lay entirely in his brilliant chakra control technique.

"Your learning speed is truly fast... I haven't even taught these to Kakashi yet..."

Hatake Sakumo spoke in a hollow voice. Chakra Blade Transformation was already considered a trump-card advanced technique of the White Fang Sword Technique. Even his own son, Kakashi, had not yet reached the point of learning this aspect, yet in Uchiha Feiyu's hands, he had mastered it in just two or three days.

It was not just the Chakra Blade Transformation technique; Uchiha Feiyu had now mastered the remaining Lightning Release Body Strengthening technique, the high-level Body Flicker Technique, and the accompanying sword techniques, only lacking a bit of proficiency.

Being able to learn so quickly was partly due to Uchiha Feiyu's solid foundation, and the observation and body control brought by the Two-Tomoe Sharingan were also helpful. But in reality, what truly allowed Uchiha Feiyu to have such learning ability was the Possession ability of the Soul-Binding Command.

Through the Possession ability, Hatake Sakumo controlled Uchiha Feiyu's body to perform ninjutsu for training. One session was worth ten days or half a month of study; the learning effect of a single day was comparable to two years of hard practice. Two or three days were roughly equivalent to five years of hands-on teaching for Uchiha Feiyu.

With this learning efficiency, Uchiha Feiyu had already mastered most of the essence of the White Fang Sword Technique. What remained were issues of foundation, such as combat experience and the depth of chakra Nature Transformation and Shape Transformation.

Even if Uchiha Feiyu made no further progress in the future and just followed Hatake Sakumo's path, he could eventually inherit seventy to eighty percent of the White Fang of the Leaf's strength, not counting the bonus from his pair of Sharingan.

As for why he would only inherit seventy to eighty percent of the White Fang of the Leaf's strength? That was because, in addition to the Lightning attribute, the White Fang also possessed Wind attribute chakra, while Uchiha Feiyu himself had dual Lightning and Fire attributes.

Although it was not impossible to develop the Wind attribute later, and with Hatake Sakumo's help, it would take at most a year to develop the Wind attribute chakra Nature Transformation, Uchiha Feiyu wisely chose to focus all his energy on the Lightning attribute Nature Transformation, given the impending war.

"By the way, Senior Sakumo, did you leave behind any ninjutsu scrolls?"

"I felt there was still room for improvement in my sword techniques and ninjutsu, so I had originally planned to leave behind an inheritance after another few years, once my system was completely mature... Tell me, why do you ask?"

"Uh... the ninjutsu and such that I've learned must have some origin, right? Did you really leave nothing behind?"

"I did teach the basics to Kakashi. As for the more advanced stuff, I was planning to pass it on to him after he turned ten and his body had matured further."

"Well, Senior, you were prepared to commit suicide; did you really intend to take your sword techniques to the underworld? Didn't you think about leaving an inheritance for your own son!?"

"I really didn't think that much at the time..."

Hatake Sakumo's act of suicide was itself a sudden, narrow-minded impulse. It would be strange if Hatake Sakumo had truly been deep in thought before killing himself.

After all, a normal man would at least consider his eight-year-old son and would not commit suicide over some rumors and gossip.

Naturally, since he hadn't even considered his eight-year-old son's future, his own inheritance was even less on Hatake Sakumo's mind.

Only now, looking back, could Hatake Sakumo not help but start to regret it. If nothing else, he should have at least left an inheritance for his son!

Don't look at the fact that Kakashi graduated at five and became a Chunin at six, making him a unique genius in all of the Leaf. In reality, at least half of Kakashi's achievements were due to Hatake Sakumo.

If he were an ordinary civilian ninja without having his foundation built from a young age, even if his talent were not inferior to Kakashi's, his growth speed would be much slower.

Now, without his guidance and without receiving the inheritance he left behind, Kakashi would certainly not be able to maintain his previous growth speed, and he might even die in the Third Shinobi World War because of it.

"Then how about this, Senior Hatake Sakumo: you control my body to write an inheritance on the spot, and then we'll find a way to give it to Kakashi."

"Alright, that will have to do."

While controlling Uchiha Feiyu's body, Hatake Sakumo could also simultaneously enjoy the bonuses of the Sharingan bloodline. After the Sharingan is activated, in addition to the abilities related to the eyes, the Uchiha's body control ability also increases significantly; otherwise, they would not be able to directly copy others' ninjutsu.

Relying on this method, combined with Hatake Sakumo's original Soul, the handwriting produced was exactly the same as what Hatake Sakumo wrote when he was alive. Coupled with some of Hatake Sakumo's unique little habits, there was no need to worry about Kakashi having any suspicions.

After the Inheritance Scroll was finished, Uchiha Feiyu looked at the scroll and asked the spirit beside him:

"Senior Sakumo, how should I give this Inheritance Scroll to Kakashi when the time comes? Should I find a hidden location that both you and Kakashi know and leave it there?"

"Just give the scroll directly to Kakashi! I have already written an explanation inside, so it won't make people suspicious."

"Are you really sure, Senior? You and I didn't have any relationship before; abruptly taking out your Inheritance Scroll would be a bit too sudden."

"Heh heh... it doesn't matter. Since my mission failed, you are the only ninja who has visited me multiple times. Handing the Inheritance Scroll to you is still justifiable."

"Alright, since that's the case, I'll help you give this scroll to Kakashi. I hope this can help him move on a little."

Hearing this, Uchiha Feiyu stopped declining. Even if someone were suspicious, it wouldn't matter, because the inheritance inside the scroll was absolutely real.

I believe that even if those ninjas had wild imaginations, they would never think that Uchiha Feiyu had imprisoned the White Fang's soul. At most, they would just sigh at Uchiha Feiyu's dumb luck.

Moreover, with Hatake Sakumo's inheritance, Uchiha Feiyu would no longer be suspected when using the White Fang's sword techniques in the future. At the same time, by returning the inheritance, he could also close the distance with Kakashi and find a way to counsel him.
