Chapter 114: The Wind Daimyo and Genjutsu
Land of Wind, capital city.
As a desert kingdom, the capital of the Land of Wind, built upon the largest oasis, shows not a trace of wind or sand.
Clear water from the snow-capped mountains circles the city; many plants unique to the desert grow within it, while the outskirts are surrounded by lush green meadows, forests, and endless wheat fields.
At a glance, one could hardly imagine this is a country situated in a desert region.
However, this is quite normal; to be one of the Five Great Nations, it is impossible for the Land of Wind to be entirely desert, or it could not support itself as a major power in the Ninja World.
Even in a place like Egypt, there are still fertile lands along the Nile; naturally, the Land of Wind also possesses a portion of fertile land to support the operation of the entire country.
As for the so-called desert regions, aside from a few oases, they can only serve as mineral resource sites and strategic depth for the nation.
"No wonder the relationship between Sunagakure and the Land of Wind has never been great. I heard that Sunagakure was originally formed by a gathering of ninja clans in the desert, while the main population of the Land of Wind actually lives near the capital."
"The residents within the entire desert probably account for less than twenty percent of the Land of Wind's population."
Looking at the scene before him, Uchiha Feiyu could not help but feel a sense of emotion; the residents living near the resource-rich capital and those in the desert have vast differences in ideology, character, and culture.
From this perspective, the rift between the Sand Ninja and the Land of Wind is almost irreparable.
"Although the rift between the two is hard to bridge... at least the primary and secondary roles are clear. Even if the Sand Ninja in the desert are the minority, they must be the true leaders of the Land of Wind."
For Uchiha Feiyu, he naturally would not agree with the idea of the minority obeying the majority; he only believes that one's position determines one's stance. The Land of Wind being under the leadership of Sunagakure—or rather, under the control of Uchiha Feiyu—is the truly optimal state.
Approaching the capital of the Land of Wind, there were a few guards at the gate. Uchiha Feiyu glanced at them and sensed a faint amount of chakra on their bodies.
The amount of chakra these soldiers possessed was very scarce; although they were all sturdy adults around 1.78 meters tall, the chakra within them was at most comparable to that of a third or fourth-year student at the Ninja Academy.
With this level of chakra, they could barely use the Three Body Technique a few times, and they were basically cut off from combat ninjutsu like the Five Elements Escape. However, if used purely to bolster the body, combined with some sword skills and taijutsu techniques, it would be enough for an ordinary person to take on ten.
Furthermore, having chakra grants a certain resistance against ninjutsu like Genjutsu and the Transformation Technique; no matter how weak this resistance is, it is still the difference between zero and one.
Theoretically, if such soldiers formed a large army, even an average Jonin would have to turn and run, unless they possessed special ninjutsu.
This is also one of the trump cards of that Wind Daimyo, a military force used to deter Sunagakure.
However, in Uchiha Feiyu's view, it is only because of the protection of the Guardian Ninja and the Land of Wind Monks that these soldiers have any use; otherwise, if the Sand Ninja were to perform a few decapitation strikes, no matter how large the army, it would be meaningless.
Walking straight through the city gate, even though Uchiha Feiyu was still wearing a ninja flak jacket, those few soldiers let him pass as if they had seen nothing. Given their chakra levels, Uchiha Feiyu using Genjutsu to manipulate them was only slightly harder than doing so to an ordinary person.
After entering the city, Uchiha Feiyu did not carefully observe this most prosperous city of the Land of Wind, but walked directly toward the Daimyo Mansion in the center of the city.
Although the Daimyo Mansion was built within the city, it still had its own independent walls and Ten-shukaku; Uchiha Feiyu could even sense the Seal Barrier shrouding the entire Daimyo Mansion.
"The effect of this barrier is already much stronger than the barrier of Sunagakure. It seems this Wind Daimyo is quite cautious."
Being able to set up such a barrier clearly required the help of the Land of Wind Monks. Of course, the fact that the barrier's effect was so good also had to do with the Daimyo Mansion being far smaller than a ninja village.
With the same resources and chakra, the smaller the area, the better the effect of the barrier naturally is. Looking at the barrier before him, even Uchiha Feiyu felt a bit of a headache.
Uchiha Feiyu is indeed not very proficient in ninjutsu like Barrier Technique and Sealing Technique. First of all, there are not many ninjas who know such ninjutsu, so naturally, there is not much Uchiha Feiyu could learn from the souls of ninjas.
Another point, and the most important one, is that a large part of Barrier Technique and Sealing Technique belongs to theory. Even if one relies on soul possession to learn these theories, the speed cannot be too fast, so they were naturally ignored by Uchiha Feiyu.
"But... never mind, anyway, my goal is not just to control that Wind Daimyo!"
Thinking of this, Uchiha Feiyu did not hesitate; without even using Genjutsu, he stepped directly into the Daimyo Mansion.
The two samurai guarding the gate of the Daimyo Mansion were startled, and they shouted loudly:
"Who goes there? How dare you trespass into the Daimyo Mansion?"
"Wait, his attire is... he is a ninja!"
These two sentences became the final words of the two samurai at the gate. Uchiha Feiyu gently extended his hand, and electric light permeated it, turning into a sharp blade, and he took off their heads.
The highly concentrated, pure Lightning Release chakra even cauterized their wounds directly, so that even though their heads were severed, not much blood flowed out.
Seeing Uchiha Feiyu killing people in the street, and killing the gatekeepers of the Daimyo Mansion at that, the passersby at the entrance of the Daimyo Mansion were either dumbfounded or scared out of their wits, and a few even screamed in terror.
At the same time, as Uchiha Feiyu stepped into the Daimyo Mansion, the barrier of the entire mansion fluctuated, and the ninjas and monks guarding the interior of the mansion rushed out as if a hornet's nest had been poked.
A faint smile appeared on Uchiha Feiyu's face, and sizzling electric light permeated his body, turning into an indestructible armor.
"Hmm... let me think... what ninjutsu should I use to deal with these opponents?"
Just as Uchiha Feiyu was still thinking, the guards rushing out of the Daimyo Mansion had already surrounded him, and without a word, they stabbed at him with swords and spears.
Only a continuous sound of crackling was heard, and those swords and spears were shattered into two pieces by the Lightning Armor on Uchiha Feiyu's body. Uchiha Feiyu casually drew his short blade and swung it, and the many guards before him were cut in half amidst screams.
However, at this moment, several flashing golden chains flew out instantly and wrapped around Uchiha Feiyu's body, causing the chakra within him to fluctuate.
The monks surrounding Uchiha Feiyu formed seals with their hands and shot out streaks of golden chains, which looked very much like the Adamantine Sealing Chains of the Uzumaki Clan.
It was just that compared to Uzumaki Kushina and Uzumaki Karin, who could produce 4 to 8 Adamantine Sealing Chains at once, only four of these monks could use such chains, and each could only use one.
"No wonder they could suppress that Tailed Beast, Shukaku. Are they also the type that excels at using Sealing Technique?"
Trapped, Uchiha Feiyu muttered, and with a boom, his whole body exploded into a flash of lightning; it was clearly just a clone.
What kind of cautious ninja is Uchiha Feiyu? Without knowing the opponent's specific ninjutsu, how could he possibly charge in so brazenly?
"Not good, it's a Thunder Clone!! Where is the opponent's real body?"
The monks and guards showed expressions of shock and looked around, but suddenly felt a tremor in the ground.
The tremor of the ground caused the Ten-shukaku of the entire Daimyo Mansion to begin to sway slightly. Following a burst of exclamations, several ninjas who looked quite capable jumped down, carrying an old man in luxurious robes.
"We finally meet, Daimyo-sama."
Amidst a faint laugh, a large amount of gold sand gushed out from the cracks in the ground and floated slowly in mid-air, and atop the gold sand, Uchiha Feiyu appeared, wearing a mask.
"Magnet Release... a ninja from Sunagakure... are you trying to rebel?!!"
The old man in luxurious robes was fierce in appearance but weak in reality, and he shouted, but unfortunately, Uchiha Feiyu clearly did not care about such trivial resistance.
The only thing that surprised Uchiha Feiyu a little was that this Daimyo before him seemed to have some chakra as well; not to say how strong, but at least better than an ordinary Genin, roughly at the level of a Chunin like Iruka.
"This chakra is not bad, and it's not a Transformation Technique; it is indeed the person himself. It really surprises me, you actually count as a decent ninja?"
The Wind Daimyo had never thought of hiding his chakra from Uchiha Feiyu, and he said coldly:
"I am no ninja, I just possess chakra. Is the power of chakra something exclusive to ninjas?"
This world is, after all, a world where great power belongs to the individual. As the highest point of power, the Daimyo could naturally see this point very clearly, and he was naturally very interested in the power of chakra.
It is just that the talent of ordinary people in terms of chakra is close to zero; those soldiers at the gate who possess chakra are already considered quite good among ordinary people.
Being able to cultivate chakra at the Chunin level is a decent talent even within a Ninja Village; Uchiha Feiyu had not expected that this Daimyo actually possessed quite good aptitude.
Of course, this level of talent is only impressive among ordinary people; perhaps when facing an assassination by an Elite Jonin, this Daimyo could rely on his own strength to struggle and delay for a second or two, but for Uchiha Feiyu, he could pull this Daimyo into a Genjutsu the very first moment they met.
"I am truly surprised; I did not expect Sunagakure to come and kill me directly, just because I cut your funding?"
"Judging from your battle records against Konoha, having your funding cut should be a matter of course!"
"It is not just a matter of cutting funding; the intentions behind you, Daimyo, constantly developing your own monks and Guardian Ninja are known to everyone."
"If you continue to weaken them like this, in ten or so years, Sunagakure might not perish at the hands of foreign enemies, but instead be slowly dragged down by you, the Daimyo of the Land of Wind!"
The facts are indeed so; in the original story, by the time the Hokage Shippuden began, Sunagakure was even forced to initiate the so-called Konoha Crush Plan. One must know that in the past, even during the so-called Ninja World War, there was no precedent for suddenly attacking another Ninja Village while being invited there for the Chunin Exams.
Even though the Five Great Shinobi Villages are all shameless and peace treaties are worth less than toilet paper to them, a combat method like the Konoha Crush Plan that treats credibility as complete trash is definitely a breakthrough in the bottom line.
The Fourth Kazekage Rasa's brain is indeed not very normal, but being able to force Rasa to that point only shows that the situation in Sunagakure at that time was truly dire.
This was still the result of Rasa, the golden miner, panning for gold every day to subsidize the village's finances; if they had relied purely on mission income and appropriations from the Daimyo of the Land of Wind, it is estimated that the Sand Ninja would have already collapsed back then.
After hearing Uchiha Feiyu's words, the expression of this Daimyo of the Land of Wind changed slightly, and he snorted:
"Pure nonsense! Enough, perhaps it is indeed my fault for cutting your funding too much; regardless, you are still a powerful force belonging to the Land of Wind..."
Uchiha Feiyu was slightly stunned; he had not expected that the Daimyo before him seemed prepared to compromise?!
However, thinking about it carefully, this is also a very normal thing. Admittedly, if Sunagakure were to directly raise the banner of rebellion against the Daimyo, the final result would at least be a severely damaged vitality, and if one were not careful, it would end in the total annihilation of the entire village.
But by the same token, if Sunagakure cannot afford this price, could the Land of Wind afford it?
If Sunagakure were truly forced to rebel, no matter what the final outcome, the Land of Wind would never be able to maintain its status as one of the Five Great Nations of the Ninja World; if lucky, there would be a possibility of splitting into small countries, and if unlucky, it might be completely carved up by the other four Great Nations.
The Daimyo of the Land of Wind was thinking of cutting flesh with a dull knife, slowly weakening the power of Sunagakure bit by bit, but he truly never thought of perishing together with Sunagakure!
Under these circumstances, as a political creature, it is simply too normal for him to want to compromise.
It is a pity that Uchiha Feiyu had no intention of compromising with him, or rather, Uchiha Feiyu's goal was the other ninja forces of the Land of Wind; these monks, wandering ninja, and even chakra soldiers were all the best food for Uchiha Feiyu to continue his progress.
Otherwise, simply using invisibility and Five Senses Manipulation to find the Daimyo of the Land of Wind and hitting him with a Mangekyo would be the most perfect approach. Could those monks see through Sunagakure's ordinary Genjutsu, and still see through a Mangekyo Illusion? Why go to the trouble of attacking with such fanfare?
Just as the Daimyo of the Land of Wind was about to say something more, a flash of red light had already crossed Uchiha Feiyu's eyes; the Genjutsu from the Sharingan instantly took control of the Daimyo's mind, igniting a blaze of fury in his heart.
"Sunagakure, how dare you betray me! Your crimes are unforgivable!! Everyone, obey my orders, kill this guy for me!"
