Chapter 94: Human Bouquets
Burying corpses on the wasteland.
Taking a deep breath of air tainted with the scent of blood, Li Jian steadied his mood.
When his gaze fell upon the corpse-transport cart on the wasteland, his tone could not help but turn complex: "Since Foreman Du has his own plan, then it is time to get down to business."
Du En observed the corpse-transport supervisor's changing demeanor and nodded thoughtfully: "Hm, first dig the pit, then bury the corpses. That said, is Supervisor Li really not going to lend a hand, just standing by and watching?"
Isn't it perfectly normal for a supervisor to watch others do the work?
Li Jian could not help but think this for a moment.
But when the words reached his lips, there was only a single "good."
However, it had nothing to do with Du En now, and he had no desire to investigate.
Li Jian interrupted Xu Ran, yet it seemed as if he had deliberately failed to interrupt in time.
He reached out his hand, and a palm-length shovel slid from his sleeve; as he channeled his magic power to activate it, it immediately expanded and was gripped in his hand.
"Hm, apart from you and me, the corpse-transporters outside the city are all dead."
"Things have reached this point, and the flow of corpse-related tasks will now face suspension. We have no time to delay here; we must report to Manager He immediately."
When he reached this point, Li Jian had originally wanted to continue, saying that if one were truly afraid of any accidents, one could choose to retreat first and bury them from a distance by casting soil later.
Li Jian said, seemingly feeling apologetic: "Sorry, these are not my magic tools, but borrowed for temporary use, so I must withdraw and reclaim them. You might see a sight you would rather not see next."
Thus, Li Jian did not say these words, but simply continued to cast his spell.
"So that's how it is, the evil cultivator has... ah!"
The thick corpse-wrapping cloth seemed impatient as it unfolded, then rapidly shrank and flew back into Li Jian's hand.
Yet Du En felt a faint sense of awkwardness.
There was a hidden mystery.
The corpses on the cart were thus exposed to the eyes of the two.
Without entering a state of enlightenment, it was only by relying on the supernatural ability he had stolen from this place that he felt this way now.
Very quickly, the large pit was filled back in, and those evil human bouquets were swallowed by the wasteland; everything around looked as if nothing had happened, appearing perfectly normal.
Du En leaned on his Demon Bone Shovel, silently pondering in his heart.
"Ugh—"
"However, there are no traces of evil arts remaining this time. Either it is too obscure for me to detect, or..."
"Burying corpses, the evil cultivator is wreaking havoc again," Du En said.
Using this as an excuse, he took Xu Ran and, without saying anything more, hurriedly said his goodbyes and left.
"Eh? What am I doing here?"
Halfway through his sentence, Xu Ran reacted; his tone changed immediately, and he cautiously asked Li Jian for instructions while simultaneously winking at Du En.
"The current situation clearly shows that he is deeply entangled with this Li Jian. He looks so ashamed, it couldn't be more obvious, yet he is being evasive, appearing to have reservations..."
Du En had a guess now, but he did not feel strange; he simply confirmed his thoughts further.
Regardless of what strange, evil, and gorgeous corpses they were, once buried in this wasteland, they could stir up no waves.
And then he had taken the initiative to mention that this matter had not yet been reported.
"This, how can this be? Weren't they, weren't they perfectly fine when I went out to fetch water? They were gathered in the main hall laughing and talking, mentioning the recent business of dead men's wealth, and, and, you were in the inner room at the time..."
An inexplicable evilness drifted and spread, causing one's perception of these bouquets to hover between gorgeous and bloody, jumping back and forth repeatedly, pushing the psyche to the edge of collapse, with various feelings of disgust and loathing erupting.
Du En's tone was calm; looking at these human bouquets, he had already determined their identities from the human faces at the handles.
Du En pondered, glancing at Li Jian, and began to fill in the soil.
Xu Ran, at the edge of the wasteland, seemed affected and ran directly into the bushes to vomit.
Then, noticing the two people standing beside him, he was suddenly startled and blurted out: "Du En, and Supervisor Li, how did you two end up together... uh, I mean, what on earth happened? To think it would require you to take action personally?"
However, what was certain was that the evil cultivator who had wreaked havoc before could no longer restrain themselves and had appeared again to take action.
With the pit dug, the two leaped up, returning from the pit to the ground above.
Those thick corpse-wrapping cloths were also a type of magic tool; Du En had known this the moment he saw them.
Trimming the limbs, sculpting the torsos, and setting the blood—it was in a flowing state yet fixed, as if still coursing through the blood vessels, to bloom into gorgeous and fresh pistil-like veins.
The deeper they dug, the less they saw of the sinister black soil, until finally, only ordinary, clean earth remained.
Xu Ran nodded, then suddenly froze; he finally recalled everything and could not help but let out a scream.
Clearly, among those who had been marked by evil arts during the previous havoc, they had all been wiped out this time, and only Xu Ran, who had stayed behind to help bury the corpses, was lucky enough to have the residual evil arts on him purged.
After finishing vomiting, Xu Ran wiped his mouth, lifted his head, and looked somewhat dazed.
Then the two of them—one a Qi Refining perfection corpse-transport supervisor, and the other a Qi Refining perfection Du En pretending to be at the middle stage—used their abundant magic power to isolate and ignore the sinister black Qi, rapidly digging a very deep and quite wide pit.
Clearly, the actual situation here was not as ordinary and clean as it appeared on the surface.
"Truly, the younger generation is to be feared!"
Bunches of flowers.
Looking at the whole picture, this matter could be called baffling.
One person made into one bouquet; there were fifty-eight bouquets on the multiple carts, meaning fifty-eight people had been murdered and turned into these human bouquets.
Hearing this, Li Jian closed his eyes, his tone sighing: "He was lucky not to die, but unlucky to open the hall door and see them all laid out neatly."
"Indeed, it is good luck."
Clatter!
The corpse-transporters led by Li Yue!
"I am going to withdraw the magic tool wrapping the corpses."
The spiritual light flickered slightly, clearly a sign that it had been refined only recently.
"S-Supervisor Li, the, the boss and the others, are they, dead?"
However, Du En stood there with a calm expression, silently standing at the edge of the large pit, without the slightest ripple of emotion.
Then, he also joined in the process of filling it in.
Li Jian raised his hand and grabbed through the air, and those flatbed carts began to roll, moving on their own, each one consciously entering the pit and being laid out and stacked neatly.
Li Jian squinted as he watched Du En's consistently calm demeanor, and he could not help but sigh with emotion once again in his heart.
"I hadn't forced him to come out yet, but he jumped out on his own; this is somewhat unexpected, but the problem isn't too big, it's just that the time for the operation must be changed to as soon as possible tonight."
Du En quickly adjusted his own course of action based on the actual situation.
