Chapter 184 - 168: Great Victory at Stone Ridge Mountain (2)
"We’re screwed!"
Nash irritably yanked off what was left of his pants, as if they were holding him back, not caring that he was now stark naked.
The drug-induced euphoria kept hammering his nerves, his whole being trapped in a confusing mix of excitement, frustration, and fear—
Almost like a lunatic, but among the Night Wandering Ghosts, he was just a bit off.
"Bowen—they’re coming! Their firepower is strong, they wiped out my men in an instant!"
"Not at all looking like they’re short on supplies—I thought the Military Technology unit had come to clean us up!"
"Bowen?!"
"Damn you!"
The vehicle sped along the abandoned highway toward Stone Ridge Mountain, heading for an abandoned tunnel, where Nash and his remaining crew had gathered.
The incomplete road was full of potholes and bumps, with plenty of concrete barriers scattered around.
Drugged-up, Nash just floored the gas pedal, frantically trying to contact his boss Bowen—
But there was no response!
Bam!
The vehicle slammed into a concrete barrier, skidding and spinning sideways, hitting another barrier, then flipping through the air!
At the end of the tunnel, in the abandoned construction site, a Night Wandering Ghost soldier lay slumped in his chair, one eye half-shut—
Boom—
The sentry woke up with a start at the noise, clutching his gun as he looked toward the tunnel entrance—
"What the hell... Acrobatics? Drugged out?"
"You’re the one that’s drugged out—get everyone up!!!"
Nash, naked from the waist down, got up from the ground and almost blew his sentry’s head off with a shot!
The sentry ducked and then shouted at the top of his lungs, "Enemies!!!"
Boom!
Just as he shouted, a rocket hit the house behind him!
The cave shook violently, huge boulders falling and scaring the Night Wandering Ghosts out of their minds!
Two machine gun pickups and two Ragnar armored vehicles quickly moved into position, showering the cave with bullets!
Nash, clutching his head, activated Si Anweisitan, but the hail of bullets was too intense for him to dodge completely!
Some bullets were deflected by his Subdermal Armor, but others hit unprotected spots—
Even with his high-end Si Anweisitan, he barely managed to get out of the bullet storm, while the minions who just pulled out their guns were instantly mowed down.
In an instant, blood and guts flew everywhere!
The Night Wandering Ghosts were maniacs, but not idiots. They took cover behind buildings, trembling in fear.
Lille gave the order, "Disembark—explosives aren’t suitable inside the cave."
"Understood."
Navi and his crew disembarked from the armored vehicle, the ground now littered with blood and chunks of flesh every few steps.
This massacre-style attack left everyone feeling a bit nauseous—
But Cedric showed no signs of discomfort, coldly saying, "These bastards deserve to die, keep your guns tight, and make sure every single one of them is dead."
The young soldiers gulped—they had never seen Cedric like this before.
As if he was well-acquainted with such scenes.
They advanced slowly, hearing no cries of pain, as everyone they shot had become corpses.
Instead, they could hear the heavy, trembling breaths of the Night Wandering Ghosts hiding behind cover and inside buildings—
Cedric signaled Navi with his eyes.
Navi gestured to his men, and a few Ajax-toting young soldiers quietly surrounded the buildings—
Then he raised his Sadara and pulled the trigger.
Bam!
The armor-piercing bullet easily pierced through the building’s metal wall, bursting into a bloom of blood!
The Night Wandering Ghosts inside were startled, instinctively rising to fight back—only to be disintegrated by the Ajax’s barrage.
Man’s team also disembarked—
Their moves were much quicker, taking out the sniper in the control room in an instant.
"Damn...this place reeks," Rebecca pinched her nose, cringing, "If it weren’t for the gunfire, I wouldn’t even know how bad it could smell."
Pila loaded his shotgun, "Maybe the bullets turned them into minced meat, making it smell this bad?
These freaks use some synthetic blood, smells awful, really makes me want to interrogate them and find out."
Qi Wei plugged into the control room’s connection—
"Got network info, this place is quite big."
West Tuan slowly drove into the tunnel, moving deeper in—
It was indeed a large place, the construction site embedded within the mountain, only a small part of the buildings visible.
The Night Wandering Ghosts hid in these buildings, too scared to show their faces.
Fear had broken their already fragile collective ties.
The compliant ones had already become minced meat in the first wave of gunfire.
The remaining ones were defiant, ignoring Nash’s orders on the channel, waiting for someone else to take the lead.
Occasionally, someone couldn’t bear the fear and tried to fight back, but all they got was a bullet.
Lille processed all the surveillance footage in an instant, uploading the positions of the Night Wandering Ghosts to the combat channel.
Then, the last one—Nash.
The guy was quick, constantly running further in, either he had lost his mind, or was looking for backup.
But the tunnel had an end.
Lille saw him get hit, but he was still quick, scrambling on all fours in a desperate, ugly crawl.
Lille disembarked, reloading Yinglong, V right behind him, and Jack appeared on the edge of the two-story building, giving a thumbs-up to indicate the area was cleared.
And Nash was hiding at the end of the tunnel, moving stealthily among the construction machinery.
"Nash—I see you, you’re worth a lot to the NCPD."
"NCPD? Screw you, I’m working for Military Technology now, the company won’t let you go!"
"Do you Night Wandering Ghosts always joke like this?"
Bam!
The raccoon dog fired a shot, blasting through the equipment, the bullet piercing through the bulldozer to hit Nash’s Subdermal Armor!
The bullet lodged in Nash’s body, its immense kinetic energy knocking him out of cover!
As he came out of hiding, Nash saw Lille lifting his gun—the smart bullets almost formed a line, targeting the places he’d already been hit!
Si Anweisitan activated, Nash raised his hands to shield himself from the bullets, struggling to move back—
Forgetting he was at a construction site.
Though it was an abandoned one.
Suddenly, the crane behind him moved, and the suspended cement block crashed down!
Boom—
Dust and debris flew up.
Nash’s head sparked with electricity, a mix of blood, electrolyte, and synthetic blood poured out, reeking horribly.
His head was partly blown off, his jaw dislocated, the whole body trembling as he used his last bit of strength:
"Please spare me... I know where Bowen is..."
Lille pinched his nose, "You think your boss isn’t answering you because of what? Pathetic."
Crack—
Electrolyte leaked out from his blown-out Prosthetic Eye, Nash twitched a few times, and fell silent completely.
Lille looked at the Achilles Rifle soaked in blood on the ground, frowning, then pulled out a Prosthetic Doctor’s glove from his pocket and picked it up, before gesturing to Jack standing in the distance.
"Jack—this one’s for you."
"I..."
"Good stuff, I’m not lying, just a bit dirty—would I lie to you?"
"Alright... Is this the ’good stuff’ you mentioned?"
"Hold on, just hold on, it’s not time for that yet."
Jack, grimacing, took the gun and ran to the car—it might actually be nice after a wash?
Just then, the sentry outside the cave reported:
Sol: "Military Technology, they’ve got armored vehicles, and drones, a whole tactical squad."
Lille: "Good news—don’t make me teach you what to do, right?"
Sol: "...Maybe we don’t need a direct clash... Pan’an, what are you doing!"
Pan’an: "Open fire!"
