Chapter 333 - 308 Frank’s Battle Record
Entering "idiot mode" because, as Lille exited Super Dream, his consciousness had already returned to the Marvel World.
Once the consciousness switched, even the smell of the air changed.
Although the air above the streets was somewhat sweetened by leaded gasoline, at home, it smelled much better than there.
The air was filled with the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies, mingling with the scents of tea and flowers.
Lille was now sitting in a chair by the window sill, his mom had just brought in the sun-dried quilt, bringing the scent of the sun along with it.
These warm things were unattainable in Night City, hiding mostly underneath the scent of rust, and by the time people started to miss them, they had long been corroded and assimilated by the foul odors, never to be found again.
"Lille! Come help me fold the duvet cover."
Maya had finished folding the clothes and called Lille over to help.
Olfaction and audition, two senses directly linked to emotion and memory.
The auditory sense is a simply modulated perception, while olfaction is the most complex.
"Coming." Lille stood up and walked towards his mom, silently commanding Little Octopus to record these signals as a Super Dream experience.
It may sound strange, but for V, a streetwise kid with "muscles" on his mind, you wouldn’t think they’d be interested in such mundane details.
But Lille thought sharing some of this life would be rather nice.
Thinking this, he handed over the corner of the quilt and unconsciously broke into a smile.
Maya noticed this detail, her hand reaching for the quilt corner paused, and she looked momentarily stunned.
Lille immediately retracted his thoughts, "What’s wrong, Mom?"
"Nothing, just... what are you smiling about?"
Lille found himself at a loss for words, not knowing how to explain.
However, Maya quickly changed to a cheerful expression, took the quilt from Lille’s hands, and swiftly folded the duvet cover, then picked up the clothes.
"If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine, as long as you’re happy. The cookies are ready, they’re on the table, go get some yourself."
Maya picked up the clothes, cast a meaningful glance at Lille, and smiled as she returned to her room.
Lille scratched his cheek, glanced back at his departing mom, sat down at the table, poured himself a cup of tea, and settled in for a leisurely afternoon.
Everything was recorded into Super Dream data, while he rested, edited, and reviewed the events that had unfolded in the Marvel World recently.
The biggest issue at the moment was the case involving Frank, this tenacious Punisher had not let Lille down and had managed to rescue all his comrades.
And the Prosthetics on Frank’s body were purely the works of the Advanced Prosthetics Lab; if we want to dominate the Prosthetics industry chain in the long run, this place was rather crucial.
[Message from another world:]
[V puts on the Super Dream headband and starts experiencing.]
[V: What kind of place is this... wait, something feels... off, it’s an indescribable...]
[Lille: Just watch.]
[V: Alright.]
And so, in two different worlds, V began experiencing Lille’s warm life, while Lille reviewed Frank’s combat records and pondered the direction of his next move.
...
"Combat mission record number 2009-10-05, operation code name: α-2, record start time, 9:30 AM."
Frank’s deep voice emerged in the footage.
The screen showed a forest floor covered in red leaves, in the wilderness.
"Combat objective: to protect... my comrade, Ghana Henderson, and retrieve Abba Hahn’s combat recorder from his hands."
"Experimental objective: to test the prototype Exoskeleton Tactical Strider version 2 for combat stability, the three-dimensional mobility module, an enhanced visual tracking system, and the tactical response speed optimization module."
"Expected outcomes: bring back Ghana and the combat records and collect equipment data."
Tactical Strider model 2, based on the design data of the Centaur Mecha and the combat data from Cyberpunk World, was an upgraded version of the initial exoskeleton Frank had used before.
It featured enhancements mainly to the exoskeleton structure and materials of the legs, while the arms were fitted with a Spider Silk Emitter and Electrostatic Adhesion Gloves as a three-dimensional mobility module.
The War Boots on the feet also had electrostatic adhesion devices, but this module provided a reverse electrostatic force, combined with pulleys, which allowed combat personnel to slide at high speeds on certain surfaces.
The mechanized leg structure provided the basic capability of super jumping.
The helmet technology was relatively conservative, using pure infrared detection and an auxiliary targeting AI.
In the view, a tactical squad was approaching through the trees, and in the sky... even two helicopters.
Frank turned back, and the screen then showed his comrades—
They were now in a little wooden cabin deep in the forest.
Regarding their grudges with the CIA, the court’s opinion was to adjourn.
Such an adjournment usually means time for the plaintiff and defendant to gather, supplement, and organize evidence.
But in some perilous struggles, it means a direct confrontation of force.
Ghana was a burly man with a somewhat round face, which made him look younger, and he had a more robust build than Frank.
However, "sturdy" usually just means a large target, easy to hit in front of firearms.
Frank held the rifle and quickly determined his course of action.
"I’ll deal with them, you hide."
"Hide? You wanna take them on?" Ghana was freaking out, "Frank, that’s an armed helicopter!"
"I know, and because it’s an armed helicopter, we can’t outrun them."
"Your solution is to kill them all? That’s suicide!"
"Trust me."
Frank shook his head, the exoskeleton on his thigh slightly bent, storing energy...
Bang!
The force was so immense that in Ghana’s eyes, Frank instantly disappeared in front of the doorway!
The sudden appearance of Frank threw off the operatives’ advance rhythm; the communications channel went into complete disarray!
"Target spotted... Too fast!"
Frank’s speed was incredibly fast!
His leap propelled him forward at a peak speed of 40 meters per second, maintaining a high-speed glide of 20 meters per second!
Using spider silk to redirect his path, and the momentum of his sprint as the driving force, he rapidly moved with the glide module. By the time the enemies saw him burst from cover, he had already reached the next one!
Whoosh!
Frank burst out of the trees, his nerves sending waves of piercing pain as if the whole world had slowed down...
Dodging trees, he saw the enemy hurriedly raising their weapons towards him, but they were always a beat too slow. At such speeds, they had no chance to find cover or move.
But his gun wasn’t slow.
Dodging trees, barrel pointed at the enemy, Frank pulled the trigger.
Bang Bang Bang Bang!
The sound of gunfire rang out, blood splattered everywhere!
"Find cover..."
"No use, he’s too fast!"
It was one against thirty-six, yet Frank was able to move through the woods at speeds of 50 to 130 kilometers per hour, and his aim was still impeccable!
Bullets flew, bursting into sprays of blood on the soldiers. In stark contrast to Frank, their bullets could not hit their target, only hitting trees and fallen leaves, scattering nothing but wood chips and foliage!
He moved at high speed along the predetermined route, suddenly reduced shooting, and picked up speed...
His target was the helicopter!
"Quick, cover!"
The people on the helicopter immediately became tense, the machine gunner feeling ridiculous—
On the helicopter, he became nervous facing just one infantryman!
The machine gun spun, pouring out firepower!
But it was even harder to aim at the target!
At this moment, Frank slung his gun back onto his chest. Two strands of spider silk grabbed a tree, and he took a fierce leap!
His body soared high, the spider silk tensing under the great force, swinging Frank upwards until, at an extreme position, he managed to land on the side of another tree!
The spider silk was taut, the exoskeleton on his arm creaking as the leg exoskeleton compressed to the extreme, emitting steam...
Bang!
The immense kicking force even snapped the tree in half, Frank shot towards the helicopter like an arrow released from its bow!
Watching Frank’s helmet, the dark panel, the machine gunner’s heartbeat spiked, yelling as he pulled the barrel up in an attempt to aim, but he was a beat too slow!
The helicopter pilot urgently pulled up on the control stick, but it was already too late!
Bang!
A muffled impact, the exoskeleton’s shoulder slamming hard into the chest of the operator, Frank could even hear the sound of bones breaking!
The pilot and co-pilot, in terror, reached for their sidearms and turned around, the enemy was on the helicopter!
But before they could fully turn, another crisp sound rang out. Through the glass, they saw...
They saw Frank had removed the rotating machine gun, the red-hot barrel now aimed squarely at them!
The soldiers on the ground watched in a daze as Frank flew towards the helicopter, then the machine gunner fell, and quickly after, a storm of orange-yellow metal bullets erupted from the cockpit!
The helicopter crashed!
Boom!
