Chapter 35: Prologue Remarks

~3 min read 563 words

It has been fourteen days since the book was released.

The word count is close to 120,000 characters, neither more nor less.

The prologue is finished; I ought to share some thoughts, otherwise I won't feel satisfied.

Mainly, we'll just see everyone's feedback and so on.

First, last year I wrote a book titled 《Daiwei Reader》, with 33,000 average subscriptions, won the Silver Keyboard Award and three-star glory, also counting as a personal milestone in my creation.

Of course, with the work's success came much criticism; last year I was a bit hot‑headed, eager to argue and fight.

Before the first over‑a‑million words, when there was no controversy yet, writing felt great; after a million words I became anxious, my mindset was messed up, hostility grew strong, causing the previous book to be nothing but endless arguing and face‑slapping, fun though it was, it was full of emptiness.

In other words, I gave myself nothing to accumulate; that's not a good thing for a creator.

So, after finishing the book last January, I didn't rush to start writing; instead I read books, calmed my mind, and thought about many things.

Before April, over three months I roughly finished reading 《Those Matters of the Ming Dynasty》, the Ming Dynasty, the Song Dynasty; at the same time, through various channels I acquired much knowledge about historical facts, interesting stories, and figures.

Under these circumstances, I can consider it a small accumulation; the new book will at least not be like the previous one, riddled with all kinds of mistakes.

I started writing in April, finalized the draft in early April, released the book on the ninth, and had stored several ten‑thousand words.

However, the consequence of not writing for three straight months is that my head is full of information; when I try to write, I don't know where to begin, causing slow updates—please bear with me.

Then, regarding the choice of subject...

Actually, what I most want to write is a 【pure xianxia】 type of novel, but I don't write it for two reasons: first, my writing skill isn't up to it, better not touch it; second, I want to prove myself.

I hope to make up for the shortcomings of the later part of 《Reader》; therefore, the first thirty‑four chapters are all used to build the world setting, characters, and lay the plot groundwork.

The Daiwei opening lacks excitement, yet the Daiwei opening has a sense of urgency; however, Daiwei's flaws are also obvious, being empty.

Fortunately, though.

Although the prologue isn't exciting, it's ultimately not a big problem; I wrote it smoothly, did what needed to be done, wrote what needed to be written.

Next volume: 【Da Xia Storm and Cloud】

This is my turning point; starting from this volume, I will raise the pace, focus on gratifying fiction, step by step arranging things, while also step by step building.

My sole requirement for this book is that, while being gratifying, I lay the groundwork and expand the world.

The gratification must be reasonable and justified.

Writing should be smooth, not half‑hearted.

Alright.

Thanks to all readers for their support so far.

If you have anything you want to tell me, you can leave a comment; I can basically see them all.

Automatically block remarks like '【The donkey of the production team is more diligent than you】' and similar.
