Chapter 37: Witch of the Forest

The thorns were fierce, but they couldn't break the big snake's scales.

The giant python was powerful, but it couldn't break free from the entanglement of the vines.

"Hey! These thorn vines mainly rely on quantity to win, and the texture isn't that tough, so why can't that beast break free?"

Meng Xi's wolf claws scratched his head, not afraid at all of scratching his head bald.

"Because, this is my trap."

After saying that, Xie Yaoyao no longer paid attention to the battle between the giant python and the thorns, and turned to run behind the Witch's hut.

He hadn't forgotten what his mission was; Little Red Riding Hood was still waiting for him to save her!

And Meng Xi fell into deep thought looking at the 【Net-Imprisonment】 clearly displayed on Xie Yaoyao's head.

Meng Xi: Is this kid really a newcomer? Could it be that he also used some item to come to this plot map to fish for tickets?

Looking at Xie Yaoyao's back, Meng Xi turned to look at the giant python and thorns that were still fighting, and he gritted his teeth and decided to stay and wait for the result of the battle.

The Witch was the final BOSS, so she must be hard to take down.

And this giant python was transformed by that toad. According to the information he got, the Transformation Technique had a time limit. As long as he waited for the transformation time to end, then this toad would be his trophy.

Ten birds in the forest are not as good as one in the hand, not to mention that this toad was very important to him.

When Xie Yaoyao arrived, the magic ritual had already begun, which meant he was still late.

In the center of the huge magic array, Little Red Riding Hood's hat had long since disappeared, and her golden hair was dancing wantonly in the light of the magic array.

A dark gold coin was floating above Little Red Riding Hood's head, and countless golden illusory particles were being extracted from Little Red Riding Hood's body like gold sand and slowly flowing toward this coin.

Xie Yaoyao saw very clearly that the golden entry 【Child of Destiny】 on Little Red Riding Hood's head was fading at an extremely slow speed.

So the Witch wasn't trying to occupy Little Red Riding Hood's body, nor was she trying to gain a younger life as Xie Yaoyao had guessed before, but was trying to deprive her of her golden entry.

Everything made sense. Unlike Travelers, natives of the Fairytale World couldn't gain entries by killing others. Clearly, this Witch had obtained a way to deprive others of their entries.

And the target she chose was the protagonist of this plot world—Little Red Riding Hood!

But maintaining such a ritual magic was clearly a very strenuous thing. Xie Yaoyao found that the Witch's body was even older than when he had just seen her, and her figure was even more hunched.

Even without a mission, Xie Yaoyao asked himself that he couldn't just stand by and watch a little girl suffer, so he immediately raised his gun and rushed over.

And the Witch also discovered this troublemaker at the first moment.

The crutch-like magic wand was slammed into the mud beside her, and with a mouthful of twisted incantations, the magic wand immediately began to take root and sprout on the ground, finally growing into a huge—mushroom!

Mushroom?!

Why would it be a mushroom?

But this wasn't the time for him to think too much. After rushing into shooting range, Xie Yaoyao fired a shot at that mushroom.

The lead bullet hit the huge mushroom heavily under the thrust of the gunfire, and then like a leaking balloon, the huge mushroom spewed countless crystalline spores from the wound.

Each of these spores emitted five-colored mist, which instantly filled the air.

Poisonous!

Highly toxic!

Xie Yaoyao didn't hesitate, turned around and ran, his speed three times faster than when he had just charged!

A Traveler's life is also a life, better to save his own life first.

Escaping the coverage of the toxic gas, Xie Yaoyao looked back and saw a large area completely covered by this faint five-colored toxic gas.

And the Witch standing beside the huge mushroom was contaminated by these drifting spores at the first moment.

Xie Yaoyao watched as these spores adsorbed onto the Witch's body and then rapidly multiplied. And the Witch didn't care at all, still fully focused on maintaining the operation of the ritual magic array.

Soon these spores covered 80% of the Witch's body, and mushrooms of various sizes grew out of the Witch's body.

【Witch of the Forest】, purple profession entry! Hermit of the forest, perhaps you have never seen such a recluse in your life, unless you angered the forest!

Xie Yaoyao looked at the shocking scene before him and couldn't help but swallow his saliva.

At this time, the Witch had completely turned from the hunched old lady just now into a colorful mushroom monster, and the mushrooms of various sizes on the mushroom monster kept growing and bursting, flowing out various highly corrosive juices.

Xie Yaoyao tried his best to control his stomach from rolling and surging, not letting himself vomit.

Xie Yaoyao: Okay! That guy Meng Xi was right, his mission could be considered failed.

If future enemies are all like this, I definitely, definitely, definitely won't choose a close-combat profession. Thinking of the scene once such a thing is blasted, Xie Yaoyao tried his best to control the discomfort in his stomach.

Now the situation was deadlocked, Xie Yaoyao didn't dare to enter the toxic gas coverage area to save anyone at all. And the Witch didn't have any other actions after forcing Xie Yaoyao back, just quietly maintaining the magic array.

The scene was quiet for a while, except for the "beep-bop" sound of the mushrooms bursting on the Witch's body from time to time.

As time passed slowly, Xie Yaoyao found that the golden entry 【Child of Destiny】 on Little Red Riding Hood's head was much dimmer than before, while the gold coin that had been floating above her head was even brighter.

"Gaa-gaa! Yao, what should we do? Little Red Riding Hood can't hold on for much longer! What should we do? What should we do?"

Helai'er couldn't see the entry on Little Red Riding Hood's head, but he could see Little Red Riding Hood's increasingly pale skin and painful face.

Lilisi on his head also seemed restless, her two claws scratching Xie Yaoyao's head until it hurt.

Xie Yaoyao hurriedly grabbed her and put her on his shoulder; if this continued, the person wouldn't be saved, and his hair would be bald first.

"Don't worry, I still have a way, but the time hasn't come yet. Wait a little longer! Wait a little longer!"

Just at this moment, the Werewolf Meng Xi walked over, dragging his bloody body.

Seeing Xie Yaoyao's gaze look over, Meng Xi grinned, revealing a mouth full of white teeth.

"I knew it, how could the final BOSS be so easy to..."

He froze halfway through his sentence, clearly shocked by the sky full of toxic mist spores and the Witch's current indescribable posture.

"Holy crap, what kind of ghost thing is this?"

Xie Yaoyao shook his head helplessly and sighed.

"As you can see, the Witch! The final BOSS!"

As they spoke, the largest mushroom on the Witch's body burst, and the splashing juice corroded the ground around the Witch with a "hissing" sound.

Countless spores were sprayed out, and the toxic mist in the air became even thicker!

Meng Xi swallowed his saliva, moved his gaze away with difficulty, and looked at Xie Yaoyao.

"Still not leaving? You don't really want to fight this ghost thing, do you?" ===== CHAPTER 38 =====
