Chapter 103: Jealousy

Yun Li saw Chang Yue faint, and she let out a sigh of relief.

She had just barely become a hostage in Chang Yue's hands, and indeed that small fondness wasn't enough for Chang Yue to betray the tribe's interests; compared with his own safety it mattered little.

If she ended up in Chang Yue's hands, she feared she would be taken to the Youbuluo and forced to form a mate bond with the Youbuluo's Snake Beastmen.

When A Li instinctively clutched his hand, Leng Xiao instantly comforted her: "It's fine, it's fine—were you scared? It's our fault; we shouldn't have left you to face him alone."

Leng Xiao's original point was that either he or his brother had a Beastman to stand here with her, but his brother told Yun Li that if any of the Beastmen got too close to A Li, Chang Yue would simply be unable to step into the trap they had set for him.

So the final scheme was for Mu Qing to become a snake and hide underground, then have Yun Li position a Beastman there; only this could avoid the Eagle Beastmen that Ji Xuan had arranged, and also deny Chang Yue any chance to flee, which would otherwise cause a mess with the Youbuluo and raise the difficulty of the rescue.

Yun Li thought it over for just a few seconds and then agreed.

She trusted that Mu Qing wouldn't let anything happen to her, and also believed that even if Chang Yue captured her, Mu Qing and his group would make concessions for her and would not let her be in mortal danger.

Of course the most important point is that she knows, as a female, she is not afraid to form a mate bond with a Snake Beastman, and that alone makes it unlikely that Chang Yue would kill her in a rage.

Thus volunteering herself may indeed seem a bit foolish, but given that all the risks are ones she can bear, it remains viable.

"I'm fine, I'm just nervous."

Yun Li laughed at Leng Xiao and said, "Luckily A Qing moved fast and didn't let him catch me."

Naturally, their ability to capture her so smoothly also stemmed from Chang Yue's confidence in himself; seeing that she, a Beastman, was standing there, even if he suspected deceit, he believed he could deal with it.

Even so, Leng Xiao let out a cold snort toward his brother.

After silently binding the person, Mu Qing looked at Leng Xiu and said, "Don't let A Li do such dangerous things again."

They cannot bear the cost of losing A Li.

Hearing this, Leng Xiu let out an inner sigh, wanting A Li to have self‑protection but unwilling to let A Li face any danger—how could A Li possibly grow under those conditions?

But realizing his own selfish wish was also for A Li to rely more on them, he nodded under their gaze and promised, "Alright! It won't happen again."

Yun Li said, "I agreed to this myself, I'm not blaming A Xiu."

Mu Qing reached out and stroked her face, "We aren't blaming him; we're just worried about you."

"I won't be in trouble; after all, you're all here, aren't you? Even if he catches me, to save his own life he certainly wouldn't kill me."

Yun Li tightened Mu Qing's hand and reassured him, "And the worst outcome is just that he takes me to the Youbuluo—did you intend to abandon me then…?" planning to toss me into the Youbuluo and never care about me?

Before she could finish, Leng Xiao hurriedly cut her off, "Pah pah pah! What nonsense are you talking about? How could we possibly not want you."

Leng Xiu frowned and said, "We won't let him take you away."

Mu Qing's voice lowered, "If he dares to hurt you, even if I have to chase him to the Youbuluo, I will kill him."

"A Li, if you go to the Youbuluo, then we have no reason to stay in the Silver Eagle Tribe."

Leng Xiao thought that if A Li were truly taken away by Chang Yue, what did the lives of those few females have to do with them.

With A Li gone, the home is gone too; they wouldn't have the heart to think about anyone else's feelings.

"The cubs can't be without A Mu."

Leng Xiu added, "A Li, wherever you are, that's where we go."

Moreover, it's vital that the message reach the Beastmen who care about Chang Yue, the male; otherwise their capture would be pointless, they might even be pursued by Youbuluo Beastmen, and ultimately they'd have to hand Chang Yue over to the Silver Eagle Tribe, where the decision of who gets to exchange Chang Yue would be up to the Silver Eagle Tribe's Beastmen.

"Leave this to Ji Xuan; he knows who to deliver the message to."

After finishing, Leng Xiu turned to Leng Xiao, "The person is captured; now go to the Xin household and bring the cubs back home."

The matter wasn't over yet, and Leng Xiao didn't want to return now.

But Yun Li also couldn't bear to keep the cubs at the Xin house indefinitely; the cubs are getting livelier, and she worries that staying at the Xin house too long will annoy the hosts.

"You go back; A Qing and A Xiu are here, and if nothing unexpected occurs, this afternoon Gong Mei and the males of A Yu will also come to help."

The few Eagle Beastmen hidden nearby were placed there by Ji Xuan; first, to keep watch and monitor whether other Beastmen approach, since their capture of Chang Yue must not cause a big commotion, lest it easily spark a conflict between the two tribes.

Secondly, it also makes it convenient for Yun Li and them; whether they catch the person or not, they can relay the news to him instantly, enabling him to plan the next actions.

Seeing the females say all that, what more could Leng Xiao say? He cooed at Yun Li, earning a kiss on his cheek, and only then did he willingly set out to bring the cubs home.

Leng Xiu rarely feels jealous of his younger brother, because he knows that everything he does for the family each day is seen by A Li, so he wouldn't simply favor his own brother.

But A Xiao has lately become more and more forward, even in front of him and Mu Qing, clinging to A Li and getting close to her.

Leng Xiu thinks that if he and Mu Qing don't make any move, A Li's heart will truly drift toward Leng Xiao.

Mu Qing also feels that with Leng Xiu and Leng Xiao present, A Li's thoughts toward him are dwindling; after all, he is still the family's First Beast Husband.

If A Li's favor disappears, Leng Xiu, who is deeply scheming, might, after breaking through Blue Rank, snatch his position as First Beast Husband.

"A Li, you haven't been as close to me as when you were with Leng Xiao for a long time. Do you now only like Leng Xiao?"

How could she only like Leng Xiao and not like him?
