Chapter 117: The Road Encounter
"What did she tell you?"
After Yun Li left, his own female just kept sitting there, lost in thought; the Priest coiled his snake tail around her calf and sat on his own female.
"I'm wondering whether the prophet Ya mentioned will also show up in Heiyan Shanmai?"
You Ruo laughed, hugging her Beast Husband, and that one sentence was asking where her other Beast Husband was.
The Priest selectively pretended not to hear the latter sentence, and instead gently stroked the female's long hair, saying, "Why did this suddenly come to mind? That Prophet's ending wasn't very good."
They were clearly the first organized Beastmen to build cities and create writing, but were plotted against by his own female, imprisoned for a lifetime in the uninhabitable Ghost Cry Mountain; whether alive or dead, no one knows.
You Ruo sighed lightly, "It's just that we also encountered a Beastman like that prophet, whose intelligence seemed as if he were from a different world than ours."
"Are you that little female called Yun Li?"
The Priest, though he guessed who it was, thought his own female was overthinking, "Even if she's even smarter, how could she compare to that Prophet?"
That Prophet only made a minor blunder concerning his own female, but considering all the deeds he accomplished for Beastmen—building cities, erecting Beast God altars, creating writing, helping the Merpeople reach the shore, and even the existence of the nomadic tribes being made public because of him—
And the deeds the Prophet performed could hardly be matched by a female who has only just come of age.
You Ruo snorted coldly, "What, are you looking down on our females?"
The Priest's heart tightened at that, he lowered his head, his tone carrying a subtle flattery, "Of course not; I just don't believe there's any female smarter than you."
You Ruo's lips curled slightly at his words, then she pressed the male's head down, her lips whispering a few words into his ear.
The Priest's eyes narrowed slightly.
……
Elsewhere, a group of Yun Li's Beastmen had already rendezvoused with Leng Xiu and his party not far from Red Grass Valley.
Ji Xuan also brought two people and waited here; seeing the two old females behind Yun Li, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, "Gong Yi, Yu Po Po."
Gong Yi and Yu Po Po, seeing that Ji Xuan hadn't gone with the main force but stayed here waiting, were also quite surprised, wondering what precious skill Yun Li had obtained that made the You Tribe chief let them return together.
They instantly had a calculation in mind.
And A Yu's males had learned the news early and were waiting here with Leng Xiu; when they saw A Yu actually return to them, a group of males, excited and relieved, embraced their own female.
Fortunately my female didn't go to the You Tribe and get confused by the Snake Beastmen there; otherwise I'd be like Lu and Ya, worrying at home.
In the end she turned around and got together with other males, even threatening the home they had hard‑won in the Silver Eagle Tribe, leaving them no time to even cry.
"Let's go!"
Once A Yu and the others calmed down, Yun Li had already been holding Lao San, riding atop a gray wolf, ready to set out; they had been delayed in Red Grass Valley for almost half a month and should now return.
Next is the matter of seizing the salt mine; unsurprisingly, Mu Qing will also be going with the Silver Eagle Tribe's Beastmen this time.
……
"Are you sure they'll come through here today? If you're wrong, we'll still be wasting time here."
A female and a male stood on a steep high ground, looking down at the inevitable path leading from Red Grass Valley back to the Silver Eagle Tribe.
The female, with a charmingly beautiful face, was Miduo, whom Yun Li had once met.
And the male standing beside her was Ji Chen, who eyed Ji Xuan's Young Master position and Yun Li with predatory intent; hearing Miduo's words, he chuckled lightly and said:
"Why the hurry? There's only this one road back; they'll eventually pass here."
"As long as they come, our plan will naturally succeed."
Miduo sneered, "Better that way. Otherwise don't even think you can return to the tribe safely."
A hint of dark hawk flashed in Ji Chen's eyes, yet his face wore a gentle smile, "How could I? After all, I can't beat you."
Miduo's voice was cold, "It's fine that you know you're not as good as Axuan. Don't think I don't know you've been constantly aiming for the Young Master spot; but look at you, do you think you're worthy?"
Ji Chen's expression finally darkened, and at that moment, a tall male walked over and said to Miduo:
"The Young Master and his party have arrived; everything is already prepared."
Hearing this, Miduo immediately curled her lips into a smile, "Finally."
Thinking that after tonight she might become Ji Xuan's female, she didn't even glance at Ji Chen, and hurried down the mountain in big strides.
Seeing this, the male also rushed to keep up, but was quickly halted by Ji Chen's words, "Her heart belongs only to Ji Xuan; do you really think that if she forms a Mate Bond with Ji Xuan, she'd still want you?"
The male's hand clenched into a fist at those words, but he also knew Ji Chen wasn't a good Beastman; hearing his words was enough, and if he truly believed them, he'd just be used as a fool and kept risking his life.
"As long as she's happy, I'll do whatever."
Ji Chen sneered, "Even if you give away the female you've liked for so many years to someone else, that's truly impressive."
The male turned back, gave Ji Chen a cold glance, said nothing, and went after Miduo.
At the foot of the mountain, Ji Xuan was helping Yun Li gather the runaway cubs, when he looked up and saw the female who should have returned to the tribe suddenly appear nearby.
"Axuan!"
Miduo smiled and walked over to Ji Xuan, "I heard Uncle Ji say you didn't go with everyone, so I wondered if something held you up in Red Grass Valley."
"I've been waiting here for you for two days; why are you only arriving now?"
Miduo said, and when she saw that Ji Xuan's hand held an unfamiliar Beastman, she let out an "awoo" and aimed the creature's rear toward her own wolf cub; her expression turned somewhat unpleasant.
"Whose wolf cub is this? Why let it out without watching it, letting it run around?"
"It's none of your business."
Ji Xuan gently reached out to soothe the frightened wolf cub, then glanced at Miduo's back and casually asked, "Are you a Beastman here?"
Miduo hummed, "I'll go with you in a moment."
"A Chang didn't come with you?"
It wasn't that Ji Xuan was being nosy; it's just that A Chang grew up with Miduo and has always been inseparable from her.
Now Miduo appears here, yet A Chang is nowhere to be seen; clearly it's not something A Chang could have done.
"Are you concerned about me?"
Miduo's lips curled slightly, then she said cheerfully to Ji Xuan, "I sent A Chang to hunt; I didn't expect him to leave just as soon as I saw you."
