Chapter 277: Chun and Cang Lang
After the cub leaves, the Priest's house becomes quiet again.
The old male looks helplessly at the now empty house after the cub departs, shakes his head helplessly, "Fine, I'll go wander around the Tribe as well."
With nothing to do and no cub to watch, the Priest now is also willing to stroll around the Tribe more.
……
The months of the rainy season slip through the palm like water, impossible to hold.
A rumor, origin unknown, quietly spreads through Heiyan Shanmai, claiming there is a goddess in the mountains, stunningly beautiful and skilled in arts, sent by the Beast God to the continent as a boon for Beastmen; obtaining her grants everything.
At first, the Beastmen of the Silver Eagle Tribe took the rumor as a joke.
After all, if she were a goddess sent by the Beast God, her mere appearance would command all Beastmen's belief, and no Beastman would link Yun Li with the goddess.
Until… a Beastman calling himself "Cang Lang" appears in the Silver Eagle Tribe.
"So this is the Eagle Mountain Market everyone talked about? I never imagined the South had something like this."
The handsome, refined male's complexion bore an odd pallor, yet his distinguished aura was undeniable; the female standing before him heard his words and instantly gave a faint smile.
"Our Tribe heard that the great tribes out there have such convenient trading spots, so a few years ago we built one within the Tribe."
If you haven't seen it before, feel free to wander around Eagle Mountain.
Cang Lang smiled, nodded at the female, "Chun, I won't be rude then."
After speaking, he couldn't help but cough heavily.
Seeing this, Chun hurriedly said, "Are you alright? Want to find a place to sit for a while? The Tribe has a guest house—though modest, it can at least let you sit and rest."
As for taking this male home, Chun, though intrigued by the powerful male before her, still hesitated because of her Beast Husband.
Moreover, regardless of his strength, seeing him cough intermittently made Chun worry whether he truly possessed that capability.
Hearing that, Cang Lang looked at Chun and smiled again, "Does my condition look too worrisome? Over the years I've gotten used to it."
After all, the failed invasion of the South during the dry season taught their Beast Slaves a lesson that they must serve the Tribe faithfully.
Thinking of Meng Liang's persistence, Cang Lang coughed twice.
Chun could no longer stand it, grabbed his hand and said, "Let me take you to see the Tribe's Witch Doctor."
As she spoke, she began pulling him away from the Market.
Cang Lang didn't object; her action also gave him a chance to observe the Tribe's situation.
On the way, however, the two ran into Yun Li and her Beast Husband; Cang Lang's gaze flicked quickly over the female's face, but his attention was drawn more to the several males beside her.
Were two of those Beastmen Blue Rank Beastmen? And there was another whose strength was indiscernible.
Cang Lang memorized the female's face and those Beast Husbands beside her, and shortly after, Chun led him to a stall.
"Jiao Jiao! Are you setting up a stall to treat patients?"
Chun didn't expect the proud disciple of Silver Grandma to also mimic Yun Li by opening a medical stall at the Market; whatever's good about that female, Beastmen always seem to copy her.
Thinking of the grievances she endured because of that female and her Beast Husbands, Chun felt an uncontrollable surge of resentment.
Had it not been for them, she and her Beast Husbands wouldn't have been ostracized by other Patrol Team Beastmen; during the dry season, some of their family even died innocently due to delayed rescue.
So now, whenever Chun sees anything linked to Yun Li's family, she instinctively feels disgust.
Jiao Jiao, unaware of the female's deep hatred toward Yun Li's family, looked up, first giving Chun a look of disbelief, then shifting her gaze to the male behind her.
"A fresh face? Where is he from?"
Jiao Jiao could tell Cang Lang was unwell, but though this Beastman can be soft‑hearted at times, when it concerns matters she cares about, her heart becomes hard.
Unlike Chun, who at this moment was almost enamored by desire, upon hearing Jiao Jiao's question she answered without hesitation:
"He's someone I captured from outside; he'll probably become my Beast Husband. As for where he's from, don't you trust my judgment?"
Cang Lang felt displeased, his brows barely furrowed, wondering who would be her Beast Husband.
But considering Chun brought him into the Silver Eagle Tribe, he held his tongue; such a rare chance—if it were another female, she'd have set him aside long ago, and wouldn't accompany him around discussing the Tribe's situation.
Jiao Jiao looked at Cang Lang, "What does believing have to do with it? Where exactly is he from? Is it really that hard to say?"
At least Chun, being a Patrol Team Beastman, should know that after the dry‑season events, the Tribe strictly screens Beastmen who come to the Market for trade in the rainy season.
Their origins and purposes must all be asked; if it's a familiar face it's easy, but a fresh face warrants caution.
Seeing she wouldn't let it go, Chun twitched her brows, about to fabricate a suitable background for Cang Lang, but Cang Lang spoke first.
"I'm from the North; my Tribe heard the Southern Tribe was also invaded by outside Beastmen, so they sent me to see if an alliance is possible."
Hearing that, both Chun and Jiao Jiao's faces flashed a "did we hear that right?" expression.
Chun had never heard Cang Lang mention this before, so she was shocked.
Jiao Jiao glanced at Chun, seeing she also didn't know.
"Your Tribe?"
"Hmm, perhaps your Priest has heard our Tribe's name; I'm from the Black Moon Tribe."
Jiao Jiao listened, finally dispelling some doubt about Cang Lang, though he claimed the Priest knows their Tribe and he's here seeking an alliance.
She thought for a moment, then kindly reminded him, "I don't know what a North‑South alliance could achieve, but the Priest isn't someone you can just meet at will."
The Priest is indeed crucial to the Tribe; without confirming that Cang Lang truly comes from the northern Black Moon Tribe, she doubts the Priest would meet such a stranger.
Hearing this, Cang Lang smiled at the female, "Alright, I understand, thank you for the reminder."
Chun watched the scene, a strange feeling flickered inside her; how could this male smile like that?
Yet she isn't that sensitive and suspicious; the thought vanished, and she turned to Cang Lang's health, "Aren't you unwell? Jiao Jiao is the top Witch Doctor disciple our Tribe has trained; let her examine you, maybe she can get you up right away."
Jiao Jiao also reached out to Cang Lang, "I'll take a look."
