Chapter 282: She Is the Goddess
"It's nothing."
I guess that male wouldn't say those two sentences to the female in front of him; if he were the kind of beast who would bow to his own female, he wouldn't argue with his own female like that.
Cang Lang said with a hint of regret, "When I heard about the things Yun Li Adult did, I thought a female like Yun Li Adult would be different from ordinary females, but I didn't expect Yun Li Adult would also argue with her own male."
"The things I did? Which things?"
Yun Li felt a strange flicker in her mind; she wondered if she was any different from ordinary females.
Even though she had received some higher education, honestly she had never thought herself particularly special.
She remembered that when she was very young, the first time she went back to her hometown with her parents, they were considered relatively wealthy there, and her family was seen as people who had seen the world.
But even so, in front of the villagers her parents still treated her as an ordinary person with no great prospects, saying that because they had seen much of the world they realized they were just ordinary people; otherwise why work themselves to death to earn money? It was because they were ordinary that they only thought of earning money to improve their lives.
Those who selflessly give, who clearly have money yet keep only enough to meet basic needs, are not ordinary people.
Ordinary people live a life; remarkable people live a destiny.
If her parents were considered impressive by the hometown folk, they were no different in front of even more impressive people; the larger the world they had seen, the more they realized the world never lacks geniuses or great figures, and thus recognized their own insignificance.
So what does having higher education matter, or being a modern person from a more advanced civilization? How can she be sure she is a cut above others?
The world you have seen may be unseen by others, but you can be certain that the world others have seen is not more splendid than the world you have experienced.
Admittedly, she, bearing a bug, possessed things that many beasts in this world lack; but does possessing those things make her more noble than other beasts?
She is still a beast, a female, a mother of cubs, a partner of her Beast Husband, a member of the Silver Eagle Tribe; she is just herself and will not become another beast because she has those things.
Perhaps one day she will become a very important beast in others' eyes, and her fate will seem more significant than other beasts' fates, but at that point Yun Li will still fundamentally be a beast who lives, ages, falls ill, and dies; it's just that this beast has entered many beasts' lives, and the emotional bonds and interests she shares with them are so deep that her existence becomes a crucial part of others' worlds.
However, for now Yun Li hasn't reached that level; compared with ordinary females, she's only a bit more attractive and a bit sharper, still within the "ordinary" range.
Cang Lang watched Yun Li's puzzled expression and couldn't help feeling a little confused; does she not know how the beasts of her tribe view her, or is she pretending not to know in front of him?
"Yun Li Adult, don't you know? Many beasts of the Silver Eagle Tribe praise you, saying it's because of you that the tribe enjoys its good days now, so I think a female praised by so many beasts must be an extraordinary beast."
When Cang Lang looks at someone, he always creates the illusion that only you exist in his eyes; combined with his exceedingly gentle tone, it's almost effortless to be persuaded by what he says.
But Yun Li, hearing that, only showed a smile‑like expression, "That might be your illusion; the tribe's current state may owe something to me, but that doesn't mean I'm extraordinary.
Moreover, if I recall correctly, you just arrived at the tribe; we have only just met for the first time. Where did you hear about the things I did?
The first time you heard about me, didn't you at least doubt that those things I did might be false?"
Yun Li was genuinely curious; a normal beast who hears about her deeds would usually have at least some doubt, but Cang Lang believed them outright and, taking it for granted, thought she was a distinctive female.
She told herself that her reputation hadn't yet reached the point where people would believe her wherever the story spread, so why did Cang Lang think so?
Apparently not expecting Yun Li to question him, Cang Lang's smile narrowed slightly, then he looked admiring and said:
"Perhaps being shocked many times upon arriving at the Silver Eagle Tribe made me hear about Yun Li Adult, and I longed for it. I didn't expect Yun Li Adult to be so far below my expectations."
Yun Li raised an eyebrow slightly, "Is that so? Then you should stay a few more days in our tribe; we have many people and events you couldn't even imagine."
At some point, their conversation shifted to being led by Yun Li.
Cang Lang was still meeting a beast for the first time who wouldn't buy into his routine, especially since this one was a female; perhaps his appearance just didn't appeal to her, because whether he praised or criticized her, she seemed completely unfazed.
"Of course, I'm here this time because I represent our tribe in seeking assistance from your tribe."
Cang Lang said, a faint trace of sorrow and regret passing through his eyes, "I suppose Yun Li Adult has also heard about what happened in the Northern Tribe, right?"
Yun Li thought for a moment, then shook her head, "We've heard a little, but the specifics we actually know little about."
That statement was outright false; in fact, many beasts had fled from the North, and the tribe's beasts, to satisfy their curiosity, would specifically ask those northern refugees for basic information.
But why did Yun Li say that in front of Cang Lang? Simply because she didn't trust him and wanted to see how many truths the male would utter.
It was only that Cang Lang dared to appear openly in the Silver Eagle Tribe, so the preparatory work was naturally not lacking.
So when he spoke of the North and the Black Moon Tribe he mentioned, Yun Li didn't notice anything amiss, and consequently believed Cang Lang was from the North.
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, how could she know the situation in the North so clearly, even knowing details that Yun Li and her tribe were unaware of?
……
Watching Yun Li's departing silhouette, Cang Lang sat where he was, and after a while suddenly burst into laughter, "It seems the goddess I chose wasn't the wrong person after all."
This female truly is a beast that feels special the closer one gets to her.
The things she ponders, and the deeds she has done for this tribe, will serve as the strongest proof that she is a "goddess".
But merely having these is not enough; she should also appear more distinctive in front of other beasts.
How should we help her?
Cang Lang tapped his finger on the wooden table intermittently, until Chun again appeared before his eyes.
A female who harbors jealousy and resentment toward the "goddess", if given the chance to harm the "goddess", could force the "goddess" to reveal her uniqueness before all beasts.
