Chapter 148: Luo Feng and His Master
Emperor Chu Palace.
The burly figure seated on the floor inside the hall smiled as Luo Feng entered: "My disciple, you've come to see me about Xiangjie City?"
"That Yan Su and I became enemies, so I acted," Luo Feng said respectfully. "I was reckless."
"Who among cultivators doesn't have a temper?"
Emperor Chu shook his head and chuckled, "But you, as my disciple, come to me over personal grudges—never over cultivation. Do you think… I'm bad at teaching disciples?"
Luo Feng quickly shook his head: "No, I think Master is very skilled at teaching disciples."
"Very skilled?" Emperor Chu was surprised.
How did I not know I was skilled?
"How am I skilled?" Emperor Chu pressed, eager to hear how his disciple would explain.
"Last time you summoned me, you asked about my cultivation confusion," Luo Feng said. "I had been struggling to comprehend the 'Triune Form' and could not achieve it. Then you gave me the corpse of a golden-scaled beetle and told me to study the more advanced 'Ten Directions World Form' first—accumulate enough insight, then return to the relatively simpler Triune Form."
"I also consumed the Primordial Crystal Spirit Fruit you previously granted me, studied it carefully, and indeed broke through," Luo Feng said. "My strength increased dramatically."
The Primordial Crystal Spirit Fruit and the golden-scaled beetle corpse were both gifts from Master.
Since I achieved the Triune Form myself, I must thank Master.
Moreover, the golden-scaled beetle corpse helped Mo Luo Sa become a Divine King—Mo Luo Sa now controls six branches of the Destruction Primordial Dao, and I can directly observe and study them, greatly aiding my cultivation of the Destruction Primordial Dao.
Master's gifts have greatly enriched both my Life and Destruction paths. Luo Feng felt that with a Master, his cultivation path had become far smoother.
"So it sounds like your rise to the top of the Chaos Realm transcendence was truly due to my guidance," Emperor Chu found it amusing.
He had not given detailed instruction—only bestowed treasures and offered a hint—and his disciple had broken through.
Emperor Chu understood.
This disciple possessed extraordinary talent; even without his help, the disciple would likely have eventually awakened it—though perhaps after more time.
"Don't worry too much about Xiangjie City," Emperor Chu ended his small talk. "Just ensure no Primordial Bloodline beings escape. The punishment for this matter will ultimately be limited."
Luo Feng nodded: "I'm currently suppressing the world's entrance—those Primordial Bloodline beings cannot escape."
"Still, you must be more cautious in the future," Emperor Chu said. "If Primordial Bloodline beings do escape, the punishment will be severe—severe enough to disrupt your cultivation path."
"Never assume I can protect you from Yanfeng Ancient Nation's punishments! I am not the reigning Emperor."
"I understand," Luo Feng said.
His confidence in his strength was one reason he acted.
Another reason: as a palace-class Divine King-level secret treasure, the Star Tower was inherently adept at suppression and sealing! Moreover, Luo Feng sensed… the Star Tower's true power far exceeded that of a normal Divine King Stage One palace secret treasure—he could unleash his full strength and still not budge it an inch.
Emperor Chu looked at Luo Feng. His third disciple had extraordinary talent—he had created his own secret art and become the top transcendence in the Chaos Realm. Perhaps one day, his strength might even rival mine.
"Your talent and potential are both high. You will encounter many things in the future," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng. "I won't hide it from you: among the thirteen Imperial Clan Emperors, aside from Emperor Qing, the other twelve will fight without restraint."
Luo Feng's heart jolted.
"Without restraint?" Luo Feng looked at his Master.
"Of the thirteen Imperial Clan Emperors, five cultivate using Primordial Power and Primordial materials—I myself am among them," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng. "Six others cultivate using Primordial Bloodline."
Luo Feng listened intently.
Information regarding Emperor cultivation was something he knew little about. He had only known that some Emperors cultivated Primordial Bloodline—but who, and how many—he had no clear idea.
"Primordial Bloodline affects the body and corrupts the soul," Emperor Chu said. "They generally have vile temperaments."
"Though the twelve Emperors fight among themselves, they still form factions."
"The five of us who cultivate using Primordial Power and Primordial materials form one faction. The six who cultivate using Primordial Bloodline form another."
Emperor Chu said, "The current Emperor, Emperor Fu, is… unusual."
"Emperor Fu once cultivated Primordial Bloodline and reached Emperor status through it," Emperor Chu explained. "Later, he abandoned that path and chose reincarnation."
"Reincarnation can free one from bodily influence and soul corruption—but the contamination of memory cannot be erased."
"After abandoning the Primordial Bloodline path, Emperor Fu studied the Array Dao, refined his body through arrays, and re-attained Emperor status," Emperor Chu said. "He may very well be the next Emperor Qing."
Luo Feng listened to these secrets.
The current Emperor had once reincarnated?
According to what he knew, cultivating Primordial Bloodline offered the greatest power boost—but also the greatest drawbacks. Cultivating with Primordial Power and Primordial materials was also powerful, with no drawbacks.
Cultivating without any external aid was the hardest. Emperor Fu walked this path—and it was the Array Dao.
"Emperor Fu maintains ties with the Primordial Bloodline faction, since he was once one of them. Now that he has abandoned that path and remains utterly clear-minded, all sides support him as Emperor."
On the surface, the Emperor's Consort governs, while the other eleven Emperor Lords are divided into two major factions, with Emperor Qing standing above them all.
"On the surface, Emperor Fu governs, the other eleven Emperors split into two factions, and Emperor Qing stands above them."
"But in truth, aside from Emperor Qing, all twelve are competing," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng. "Not just us—rulers of Thunder Ancient Nation, and some truly ancient, powerful beings on the Origin Continent. All are competing. The Dao path demands competition."
"Even the Ancestors of Yanfeng and Thunder—those two Ancestors—are groping in darkness, fighting for survival," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng.
Luo Feng sensed much information.
The Ancestors of Yanfeng and Thunder were likely beyond Divine King Ultimate Realm. Their legacies and resources within the two ancient nations were immense.
They too were fighting for survival?
"Everyone will die."
Emperor Chu looked at Luo Feng. "Even the two Ancestors may die at any moment."
Luo Feng's heart trembled.
"Want to live?" Emperor Chu looked at Luo Feng. "Then you must compete. You must grow stronger!"
"You should know the Original Universe has reincarnation," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng. "But the same applies to the Source World governed by the Supreme Rule—it too has reincarnation. One day, the entire Source World will perish."
"Fail to reach Emperor status, and you all die. No one can save you," Emperor Chu said to Luo Feng. "And this is only the first tribulation."
Luo Feng was startled, yet felt it was inevitable.
He cultivated the Life and Destruction Primordial Daos—he could faintly sense how, within the Supreme Rule's operation, countless lives inevitably headed toward destruction, and only through destruction could rebirth emerge.
"The Source World's cycle is immensely long. For many cultivators, living so long is already enough," Emperor Chu said. "But for powerful, ancient beings on the Origin Continent, they are unwilling to accept it. They are one step away from transcendence—perhaps even from leaving the Source World to see more of the universe. Of course, they must compete."
"The Source World's Great Destruction Day is the first tribulation—the one you will face," Emperor Chu said. "Luo Feng, I tell you this because your talent and insight are high. Ordinary Chaos Realm cultivators need not trouble themselves with this—they have zero hope of surviving the tribulation."
"Thank you, Master," Luo Feng said.
He had heard that beyond the obvious factions on the Origin Continent, many hidden groups stirred up trouble—like the Two Worlds Palace's official members, all of whom must be at least Divine King Stage Two.
Previously, Luo Feng had wondered: why must those at Divine King Stage Two hide in the shadows? Why must they stir up conflict? Clearly, even those ancient beings were competing.
Competing for opportunities. Competing for survival.
The struggle for the Dao is naturally cruel.
"Cultivate well," Emperor Chu said. "Only by growing stronger can you secure more opportunities. You must become powerful enough before the Source World's Great Destruction—or everything will be lost."
Luo Feng nodded. Fate was cruel. If a being were born just before the Great Destruction, their cultivation time would be extremely short.
"I will remember, Master. I take my leave," Luo Feng said immediately.
Luo Feng understood: many secrets were beyond even ordinary Divine Kings' reach! As the Emperor's direct disciple, the Emperor spoke to him this much because he saw his talent.
"I hope he reaches Emperor status before this Source World perishes," Emperor Chu silently wished.
He could create his own secret art and become the top transcendence in the Chaos Realm—Emperor Chu was delighted.
Such talent and insight gave him a strong chance to reach Divine King Stage Two—and even a slim hope to strike for Emperor status.
…
Yanfeng Ancient Nation, Yan Capital.
Emperor Yan was the first Emperor of Yanfeng Ancient Nation. Once, his name had shaken the entire Origin Continent. But as more Emperors emerged—especially Emperor Qing—his influence naturally declined.
"Your Majesty," Yan Su said with utmost reverence. "Luo He stormed the border stronghold Xiangjie City, killed several of my avatars, and seized my treasures."
Before him stood a towering flame figure: humanoid in form, yet with massive flame wings whose blaze made Yan Su dare not look directly, and a long, scaled tail.
His very presence warped Yan Su's mind and will.
Emperor Yan was an Emperor who cultivated Primordial Bloodline—and his Primordial Bloodline was naturally immensely potent, its corruption terrifying.
"Did any Primordial Bloodline beings escape?" Emperor Yan's voice rang out.
"No," Yan Su said. He had deliberately created disturbances when withdrawing control of the world entrance, hoping to lure the Primordial Bloodline beings.
"Worthless!"
Emperor Yan's voice was icy. "You need not concern yourself with this. After the Celestial Mission ends, I will handle it myself."
Currently, all thirteen Imperial Clan lines were engaged in Celestial Missions—this was a matter of great importance.
"Yes," Yan Su bowed and withdrew respectfully.
"Emperor Chu's disciple has become the top transcendence in the Chaos Realm? Such talent must be suppressed!" Emperor Yan felt no joy. Luo He's strength brought no benefit to Emperor Yan's line.
He had once looked down on Luo He. Now, Luo He was gradually revealing a threat—and so Emperor Yan would pay attention.
Luo He's strength meant Emperor Chu's line grew stronger, gained more resources, and thus deprived the other lines.
