Chapter 283: Volume Seven: Return to Origin Continent
After reading the intelligence, Luo Feng gained a clearer understanding of all the overt and covert forces in Yulan City.
“Even the Elders must rely on the Three Hall Masters,” Luo Feng mused silently. This piece of land, home to hundreds of millions of cultivators and millions of Divine Emperors, was too vast—without real power, one had no right to even taste it.
“As for someone like me, an insignificant newcomer, hunting is all I’ve got,” Luo Feng chuckled, utterly unconcerned.
The fact that he received such a high reward in the Infinite Space clearly meant the Infinite Space itself recognized his talent.
For the future, Luo Feng naturally had confidence.
…
Luo Feng began shopping. With the Illusionary Labyrinth storage treasure in his possession, he wasn’t worried about theft. After all, millions of Huan Yuan Crystals were a fortune to newcomers—but among Divine Emperors, they were truly negligible.
“Impressive,” Luo Feng muttered as his simulated Eye of Annihilation opened, observing a single leaf before him—a remnant of a low-level Huan Yuan lifeform called the “Chaos Devourer.” The Chaos Devourers were a relatively large group of low-level Huan Yuan lifeforms; this remnant belonged to one with Mid-Stage Divine Emperor power.
“What’s the lowest price for this remnant?” Luo Feng asked the attendant beside him.
The attendant still wore a smile: “Each remnant has a detailed description and price listed. It’s clearly written: 5,000 Huan Yuan Crystals.”
Luo Feng stared at the attendant: “I’m asking for the lowest price. I’m buying in bulk.”
These corpse remnants came from various sources, and prices varied between merchants. Luo Feng naturally wanted the lowest possible price to acquire as much as he could.
“If your total purchase reaches fifty thousand Huan Yuan Crystals, you get a ten percent discount. If it reaches five million, you get a fifteen percent discount,” the attendant said. “I can’t go lower.”
Luo Feng nodded.
According to the intelligence he’d gathered, if the transaction volume were exceptionally large, a special discount could be negotiated. But his modest pile of “fortune” wasn’t enough to warrant an exception.
“Still poor,” Luo Feng looked at the remnants. “Even low-level Huan Yuan lifeform remains—I can only afford the cheapest ones.”
Corpse remnants, like a single scale, contained far fewer mysterious patterns than vital parts like the Life Core. The most important parts had uses in artifact forging or elixir refining—and were far too expensive.
“Their prices are acceptable.”
“I need a batch of goods,” Luo Feng said to the attendant, waving his hand. A detailed list appeared before him. “This list totals 520,000 Huan Yuan Crystals.”
The attendant’s smile instantly brightened—customers who spent heavily meant personal benefits for the staff.
“Ten percent off, totaling 468,000 Huan Yuan Crystals,” the attendant said enthusiastically. “I’ll prepare your goods right away.”
Soon.
Luo Feng paid a pile of Huan Yuan Crystals and received a storage pouch filled with vast quantities of cultivation materials.
…
In just one day, Luo Feng visited every merchant in Yulan City. After confirming the items he wanted, his realm allowed him to calculate the optimal purchasing strategy.
In the end, he spent 3.22 million Huan Yuan Crystals before returning to his residence, satisfied.
“Luo Feng,” Luo Feng spotted Di Ming and Di Fu drinking and laughing in the communal garden of his cave dwelling. Di Fu grinned warmly. “First time hunting outside the city—how was your haul?”
“Di Qing has plenty of experience—his haul was decent,” Luo Feng smiled.
“Congratulations,” Di Ming added beside him, envious. He’d joined a team composed entirely of early-stage Divine Emperor bloodline cultivators, shunned by Yulan City’s true hunting squads, forced to band together.
The team was still recruiting; if they ever set out, it would likely take several centuries.
“I wonder how I’ll fare when I go hunting,” Di Ming thought. He had ample intelligence on the outside—partly from Di Qing, partly from exchanges among the early-stage Divine Emperor bloodline cultivators.
They were all generally weak—and generally poor. Their goal: to jointly kill one early-stage Divine Emperor low-level Huan Yuan lifeform.
Killing one would count as success.
Because they were so poor, they rarely gained much. Loot gangs didn’t even bother targeting them—these early-stage Divine Emperor bloodline cultivators might have powerful friends.
Killing a bunch of paupers yielded little, yet risked attracting trouble. Loot gangs refused to do such things.
“Luo Feng, I got a job at the Nine-Ring World Tower,” Di Fu grinned. “If you ever need arrays, come to me.”
“Nine-Ring World Tower?” Luo Feng understood. “That’s a good place. Congratulations.”
“Haha, thanks to Di Qing’s detailed intel, I bought some transmissions from the True Shaman lineage, studied them, and passed the employment test,” Di Fu laughed.
The tower’s master was also one of Yulan City’s Elders, ranked among the top few in array craftsmanship. But he belonged to a cultivation sect calling itself “True Shaman.” According to Yulan City’s classification, those who didn’t absorb Huan Yuan bloodlines but instead comprehended the essence of Dao were classified as a branch of the “Dao-Comprehenders.”
“Luo Feng’s back?” Di Qing appeared in the distance.
Luo Feng nodded.
“After this hunt, I plan to enter seclusion for a while. Next hunt, probably two or three hundred centuries later?” Di Qing looked at Luo Feng.
“I’m planning to seclude myself too,” Luo Feng nodded. “I’ll go out again in two or three hundred centuries.”
Every hunt was walking on the edge of life and death.
Thus, after each hunt, fully digesting the gains before venturing out again was the norm among powerful cultivators of the Source World.
For champions from the myriad worlds without avatars, hunting required even greater caution.
“Alright, I’ll notify you when I emerge from seclusion,” Di Qing smiled and nodded. He was accustomed to seclusion—each time, he hoped to take another step forward.
Though he’d long had one foot in Mid-Stage Divine Emperor, the other foot still needed more accumulation.
Di Qing entered seclusion. Di Fu went to work at Yulan City’s Nine-Ring World Tower. Di Ming frequently met with his teammates, still planning their first hunt, still in preparation.
“I’m going to Shengshan!” Luo Feng quietly boarded an official airship bound for Shengshan from Yulan City.
“Official airship fare is 1,000 Huan Yuan Crystals—much higher than what Di Qing charged last time,” Luo Feng mused. Only one official airship travels between the Nine River Sacred Realm each century.
The official airship would first pass through thirty-five cities, carrying many passengers, before arriving at Shengshan. Then, from Shengshan, it would pick up new cultivators and return, stopping at all thirty-five cities again.
The thirty-five cities enforced strict rules: Divine Emperors could fly their own airships to Shengshan, but were forbidden from carrying passengers.
But at Shengshan, those rules didn’t apply. When Divine Emperors flew back to their cities, they could bring back new cultivators—charging only one-tenth of the official fare.
After all, their speed and safety were inferior to the official airship.
“Di Qing excels in spatial paths and arrays—that’s why he dares to fly solo,” Luo Feng thought. He cultivated the Path of Birth and Annihilation, and was far slower in travel than Di Qing.
Whoosh.
No mistake. One word. One line. One content. One look!
Inside the official airship, the cabin was vast, holding over five thousand passengers. Luo Feng glanced around—by aura, most were Divine Emperor level.
After all, those below Divine Emperor were too poor—the fare was still expensive.
The pilot was a Late-Stage Divine Emperor bloodline cultivator, slightly stronger than Di Qing in piloting. But this airship was a unique artifact—its flight speed was vastly superior.
Along the way, they passed city after city.
Some cultivators disembarked; others boarded. Fare was always 1,000 Huan Yuan Crystals.
“Using the official airship, you can reach any of the thirty-five cities,” Luo Feng observed silently.
Even after detouring, the airship reached Shengshan in just two days.
At Shengshan,
Over half the passengers flew out.
Luo Feng gazed at the towering Shengshan, then at the deep pool at its base, where over a hundred figures gathered.
“This is the official airship of the Nine River Sacred Realm,” boomed the pilot, Divine Emperor Lan Ke, his massive figure emerging, aura terrifying and vast.
“Fare is 1,000 Huan Yuan Crystals per person—or equivalent value,” Lan Ke declared. “From the thirty-five cities of the Nine River Sacred Realm, the airship can reach any one.”
The hundred-plus figures began boarding the airship one by one.
Luo Feng walked to the edge of the deep pool at the mountain’s base.
“Splash.”
He leapt down.
As he plunged into the pool, Luo Feng instantly sensed countless spatial coordinates. He locked onto the most familiar one—Origin Continent—then a droplet of water enveloped him. In an instant, he left the Nine River Sacred Realm.
…
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!!!
The droplet, enveloping Luo Feng, hurtled at super-speed through the Huan Yuan Space. Vast Source Worlds flashed past—suddenly before him, then instantly behind, vanished from sight.
“Though this is my second time experiencing this, it’s still awe-inspiring,” Luo Feng admired the scenery outside.
Following the same route he’d taken to arrive, he returned.
Finally, a familiar Source World appeared in his vision.
“Origin Continent,” Luo Feng smiled.
Whoosh.
In an instant, the droplet entered the interior of Origin Continent.
In a remote valley of the Tianji Ice Plain, within a dark pool, a droplet fell in—and Luo Feng emerged from the pool.
“Back,” Luo Feng looked around. This time, only his avatar had returned. His other avatars remained in Yulan City.
“I brought back all the treasures I purchased,” Luo Feng felt invigorated.
The low-level Huan Yuan lifeform remnants were too inefficient to cultivate with in the Nine River Sacred Realm.
On Origin Continent, with the Eye of Birth and Annihilation to observe, and the Infinite Space Treasury to exchange for treasures, this was the most efficient method.
“Whoosh.”
Luo Feng mentally locked onto Huyang City, took a step—and was already there.
