Chapter 297: The Seventh Volume: The Largest Race
“Was the Blood Demon E Li Si killed?”
Di Qing’s heart surged with a tidal wave.
These innate Hunyuan lifeforms, though crude in technique, each possessed extraordinary vitality!
Defeating them is easy; killing them is hard!
According to the experience of the Nine Rivers Sacred Realm, a Dao-seeker at the same level could barely gain the upper hand against a single low-level Hunyuan lifeform in one-on-one combat. But killing one was immensely difficult—hence the need for teams of several members.
“Luo Feng killed a low-level Hunyuan lifeform at the Divine Emperor’s late stage by himself. Such strength is among the strongest even among the Elders.” Di Qing thought, “Even Elder Tianhe is no threat!”
Even if Elder Tianhe had accumulated deeper power, as long as he hadn’t reached the Semi-Hunyuan level, he could never kill Luo Feng of such strength.
Even if Elder Tianhe held a slight edge… Luo Feng’s fame would still spread throughout Yulan City!
“Good, let’s continue hunting.”
Di Qing calmed his emotions and steered the black flying vessel forward.
“Luo Feng, this should be our final hunting expedition together,” Di Qing sighed. “I thought I might still lend some help, but I ended up unable to even participate—I’ve become a burden to you.”
A low-level Hunyuan lifeform at the Divine Emperor’s late stage posed too great a threat; even a speck of the former “Poison of E Li Si” touching Di Qing would have annihilated his avatar.
“You became a Divine Emperor at the mid-stage within just one cycle of the Origin Continent,” Luo Feng smiled. “Your talent surpasses even the founding ancestors of both nations. In the future, not only will you reach the Elder level—you may even have a chance at Semi-Hunyuan!”
Di Qing chuckled.
He truly had that confidence.
But Di Qing also understood—he would need to spend countless years, endure unbearable hardship, risk life and death, and struggle immensely just to touch the Semi-Hunyuan level. That would likely be the absolute limit of his life.
Yet Luo Feng’s growth rate made the Semi-Hunyuan level seem within reach, utterly unobstructed!
“Perhaps only by breaking free of the cage will Luo Feng need to spend such long years,” Di Qing thought. “He might yet break free.”
He knew breaking free of the cage was difficult.
In the Dark Sacred Realm, late-stage Divine Emperor Dao-seekers were the bare minimum; Semi-Hunyuan levels were everywhere. Countless powerful beings from countless worlds gathered here, yet “breaking free of the cage” remained legend!
Hard, hard, hard!
“I wonder if Luo Feng’s potential can break free of the cage and become a Hunyuan lifeform,” Di Qing thought.
…
As they conversed, they remained highly alert; Luo Feng’s simulated Eye of Creation and Destruction constantly scanned his surroundings, while the Xuanqing Tian Jiemie Array Diagram within him continuously rotated, forming a vast domain to protect them.
Previously, when ambushed by the Blood Demon E Li Si, it was precisely this array domain that allowed Luo Feng to save Di Qing in time.
“Hmm?”
Luo Feng’s simulated Eye of Creation and Destruction gazed far toward the left front.
There, a cloud of mist obscured the view—but Luo Feng could still barely discern figures within: fifteen eight-legged creatures clad in blue-and-white scaled armor, each bearing a single horn, radiating chilling frost that naturally formed mist.
“Frostwatchers—fifteen of them,” Luo Feng’s eyes burned with heat.
In the Nine Rivers Sacred Realm, low-level Hunyuan lifeforms were divided into many races.
By numbers, the Frostwatchers ranked first. Their population was terrifying; Yulan City hunters had once witnessed thousands of Frostwatchers moving collectively, including three at the Divine Emperor’s peak level. Such a massive force… no cultivator in Yulan City dared oppose them.
They almost always moved in groups.
A lone Frostwatcher was an extremely rare occurrence.
Lone Frostwatchers were usually those who had lost a leadership struggle and been banished. To challenge for leadership, one must be at the Divine Emperor’s peak level.
Thus, encountering a solitary Frostwatcher was even more dangerous.
“Fifteen Frostwatchers?” Di Qing exclaimed beside him. “Looks like a small squad.”
“From their size, aura, and scale patterns, they’re all at the Divine Emperor’s mid-stage,” Luo Feng judged. “Though Frostwatchers are numerous among low-level Hunyuan lifeforms, everything else about them is ordinary.”
Stealth, evasion, attack, defense—they all knew a little of each, but none were exceptional.
“Let’s take out all fifteen Frostwatchers at once,” Luo Feng said. “Di Qing, help me.”
“Understood,” Di Qing nodded. “I’ll do my best to hold them off.”
…
The cloud group moved slowly; the fifteen Frostwatchers stood within, observing all directions. Though their perception paled beside Luo Feng’s secret technique, the “Simulated Eye of Creation and Destruction,” they each possessed some observational skills.
They were patient, guarding all sides.
Once they spotted “prey,” they would strike as one.
Low-level Hunyuan lifeforms preferred hunting cultivators—but Frostwatchers were an exceptionally vicious race, and their vast numbers sometimes led them to devour other low-level Hunyuan lifeforms.
“Whaa—”
Endless waves of blood suddenly erupted, flooding the heavens and earth with crimson.
The blood-colored realm engulfed the cloud group—and the fifteen Frostwatchers.
“Cultivators!” The fifteen Frostwatchers all turned toward the two figures at the heart of the blood waves: Luo Feng and Di Qing.
“Kill.”
The blood waves devoured and shredded the cloud, yet the cloud completely resisted the blood’s erosion. Meanwhile, Di Qing was setting up a sword array from afar.
“The cultivator controlling the blood waves is likely a late-stage Divine Emperor Dao-seeker. The one beside him is much weaker.”
“If we combine forces, we can break the blood waves and tear them apart.”
The fifteen Frostwatchers showed no fear; if three or five Elders had appeared, they would have fled without hesitation.
But only one Elder-level opponent?
They excelled at collective combat; fifteen in a squad dared fight late-stage Divine Emperor Dao-seekers.
“Boom~~~”
The fifteen Frostwatchers moved as one; frost and cold air spread, merging their mist clouds into a single shield that completely blocked Luo Feng’s blood waves.
“Cultivator, die!”
Their massive cloud transformed into a colossal claw, lashing toward Luo Feng with terrifying force. He struggled to resist, but the giant claw tore him apart—his body dissolving into blood waves that merged into the endless sea.
“He excels at turning into a sea of blood, but his physical combat is mediocre,” the fifteen Frostwatchers instantly communicated. “Consume his blood sea.”
Instantly, their combined massive cloud began frantically absorbing the blood waves. “Tear.”
The endless blood sea suddenly erupted in fury.
“Xuanqing Tian, Heaven’s Single Line!”
A beam of fused Creation and Destruction energy pierced through their massive cloud—and through the body of one Frostwatcher. In that instant, its life core was destroyed. The beam, carrying blood waves, swept past the corpse, which vanished into thin air.
“Huh?” The remaining fourteen Frostwatchers were startled. “His blood sea is array-based—and its power is strong.”
“Keep absorbing the blood sea; the smaller it becomes, the weaker his array’s power.”
The massive cloud frantically devoured the blood sea; the absorbed energy was temporarily suppressed.
“These innate Hunyuan lifeforms have bizarre talents,” Luo Feng thought, deliberately weakening himself to prevent them from fleeing. If they committed fully to escape, his ability to intercept them would be limited.
He needed them to believe victory was possible.
The endless blood sea he released contained only one percent of his true blood sea’s energy reserve—but to cultivators, it still appeared normal. The Frostwatchers had no suspicion.
!
“Shhh!”
The Creation and Destruction light pierced the massive cloud again, taking another Frostwatcher.
“We’ve absorbed thirty percent of his blood sea—he won’t last long,” the Frostwatchers refused to relent, frantically devouring the blood sea, its range visibly shrinking.
“Shhh!” “Shhh!” “Shhh!”
Three more bursts of Creation and Destruction light followed, claiming three more Frostwatchers.
The endless blood sea had shrunk drastically.
“Shhh.”
The sixth burst of Creation and Destruction light could no longer pierce the cloud.
“His blood sea is down to thirty percent—his array’s power has plummeted. He no longer threatens us.” The remaining ten Frostwatchers grew even more frenzied; five of their comrades dead, their killing intent only intensified.
“You low-level Hunyuan lifeforms have some tricks. But you can’t touch me.” Suddenly, a blood shadow attempted to flee.
“Flee?”
The ten Frostwatchers all turned toward the blood shadow.
An invisible ripple enveloped the shadow.
Talent—Soul Freezing!
The Soul Freezing from just ten Frostwatchers was not particularly strong; even without the Lie Yuan Shu, Luo Feng could withstand it, at most suffering slight disruption to his movement. And he possessed both the Lie Yuan Shu and the Indestructible Heart to protect himself.
The Indestructible Heart shielded the soul. This Soul Freezing had no effect on Luo Feng whatsoever.
“Ah.” The fleeing blood shadow seemed momentarily disrupted, its escape technique broken, revealing its physical form.
“Cultivator, you cannot escape.” The ten Frostwatchers were ecstatic; their massive cloud suddenly expanded enormously, ready to fully devour all the blood waves—including Luo Feng’s figure.
“Is that so?” Luo Feng appeared frenzied.
“Boom.” He surged forward as a blur, piercing through the blood waves. A hazy claw swept past one Frostwatcher, shattering its life core and taking its corpse.
“What?” The nine remaining Frostwatchers were unsettled; the cultivator, whose power had greatly diminished, had just claimed another.
“Enough!”
Luo Feng refused to delay further. First, reducing the Frostwatchers from fifteen to nine cut their threat level to less than half. Second, in the Elder hunting zone, battles must be swift—prolonging them invited accidents.
“Boom boom boom~~~~”
The endless blood sea erupted, revealing a towering figure. Within this figure pulsed the Indestructible Heart, whose energy extended through countless veins across his body—and into the entire endless blood sea.
The Indestructible Blood Sea Body, empowered by the Indestructible Heart, instantly multiplied its power several times over.
“Whaa.”
As the Indestructible Blood Sea Body fully unleashed its power, Luo Feng’s right hand transformed into a massive, fur-covered claw. Guided by his Indestructible Body, this claw instantly tore through the massive cloud, shattered the Frostwatcher formation, and killed two Frostwatchers in an instant.
He’s hiding his strength.
He’s not an ordinary Elder!
Flee.
The remaining seven Frost Soul Watchers realized they’d been tricked; in an instant, they transformed into seven beams of light—beams like spiritual radiance, encountering little resistance from the blood waves—and swiftly fled.
But when it came to escape techniques, though they could flee, they were vastly inferior to beings like Blood Demon E Li Si. Luo Feng saw the seven beams of light clearly.
“Splash!” The blood waves churned, heaven and earth reversed.
“Imprison!”
The entire blood sea space was suppressed.
In an instant, five of the seven beams were trapped, confined within the Eye of the Blood Sea.
The other two fleeing beams.
One encountered Luo Feng’s furry claw as he unleashed “Palm Realm,” descending like a cage; the other was blocked by Di Qing’s sword array.
Soon, all the Frost Soul Watchers were captured and killed one by one.
“They were all actually caught.” Luo Feng was highly excited; one Frost Soul Watcher was easy to handle, but fifteen forming a squad became drastically more troublesome. This time, by feigning weakness, he had trapped them all.
“Fifteen Frost Soul Watchers are worth nearly two hundred million Hunyuan Crystals.” Di Qing was also thrilled—he had finally contributed something.
“Let’s leave here first.” Luo Feng remained clear-headed and dared not linger long at the battlefield.
The two of them immediately rode their black flying vessel and swiftly departed.
Only dozens of breaths later.
Nine Frost Soul Watchers with far more terrifying auras arrived here; their gazes pierced through space, their icy aura affecting a vast surrounding area as they meticulously searched for traces of the battle.
