Chapter 242: Advancing Seido
"Yeah~ that's 10 runs already. If we can end the game early in two innings, can't we just leave?" Kuramochi Yoichi leaned smugly against the fence, looking toward Mishimen on the opposite side.
"Hey, hey, tone it down. What if someone hears you?"
"If word of what you said gets out, we'll truly end up as the villains."
"Haha, it damages our Seido reputation."
As they spoke, the group walked toward the center of the field.
Guarding the Center Fielder position, Huangqian Yangyi watched Furuya Satoru strike out three more batters in a row and helplessly spread his hands. Facing a team of this caliber, while easy, was truly boring; not a single ball had even flown his way.
After easily ending the second inning, Furuya Satoru returned to the Dugout surrounded by his teammates.
In the top of the third, Isashiki Jun hit a base hit and successfully reached base, but Yuki Tetsuya had a bit of bad luck; the ball he hit flew right toward the Shortstop. It was perfectly aimed, and the opponent extended his glove and caught it, resulting in a Flyout.
Next, Huangqian Yangyi stepped onto the Pitcher's Mound again. Mishimen's left-handed ace was calm and composed; with only Isashiki Jun on base, he decisively chose to give Huangqian Yangyi a Base on Balls.
"It's up to you." Huangqian Yangyi shot a look at Miyuki, then helplessly strolled toward First Base.
Miyuki lived up to expectations. After one Strike and one ball, Miyuki seized on a Slider that the opponent had mistakenly thrown too high and hit it toward the Left Fielder.
One out, bases loaded, Masuko Toru stepped into the Batter's Box.
"Wuga!!"
Facing a scoring opportunity right before his eyes, Masuko Toru swung the bat more aggressively and with more power than ever before.
On just the first pitch, Masuko Toru connected with the baseball and swept it toward First Base.
Isashiki Jun took the opportunity to return to Home Plate and score a run. The defense on Mishimen's side reacted quickly; after catching the ball, they threw it to Second Base, forcing out Miyuki.
Two outs, runners on First and Third.
Seido still held a scoring opportunity. The 8th Batter, Shirasu, looked at Huangqian Yangyi on Third Base. If the runner was him, a bunt was absolutely out of the question; a squeeze play carried a certain level of danger, and he didn't want to put his ace at risk of injury.
Swinging the bat honestly, Shirasu had solid fundamentals. After observing two pitches, Shirasu swung his bat, hitting a base hit that pierced through Second and Third Base, successfully sending Huangqian Yangyi back to Home Plate.
Seido's rhythm became smoother and smoother. After Furuya Satoru stepped into the Batter's Box again, he chose to swing at the first pitch.
Bang!
To everyone's surprise, this ball flew high and far.
"You're kidding, right?"
"Another Home Run!"
"Did Seido's batting lineup eat spinach today? They're all Popeye!"
"Furuya!!"
"Three runs!!"
Blasting the baseball into the stands with one hit, Furuya Satoru, that cold-faced, cocky guy, finally couldn't help but reveal a smile of excitement.
"Huh?!"
"Luck! It must have been a fluke!"
In the Dugout, seeing Furuya Satoru blast a three-run Home Run, someone was so jealous and envious that their mouth was twisted.
"This kid, his first Home Run is a three-run one; there's no one like him when it comes to luck," Miyuki said, shaking his head. It indeed took a bit of luck to hit a Home Run, but a three-run Home Run was absolutely luck, after all, without the teammates on base beforehand, a Home Run would only score one run.
"Haha. I think even Furuya himself didn't expect it," Huangqian Yangyi laughed.
Just as he said, after running a lap and returning, Furuya couldn't help but sigh to himself that his luck was really good. He wasn't good at selecting or guessing pitches; that last ball was truly just a lucky guess.
Of course, his swing speed was indeed very fast, and his power was sufficient.
"Hehe, Sawamura, when you go up later, show the audience your god-tier bunting skills too!" Huangqian Yangyi teased with a laugh.
"No way! I want to hit!" Sawamura shouted angrily.
"Haha. Kazuya, look, doesn't Sawamura look like a little golden retriever?"
Hearing Huangqian Yangyi's words, Miyuki turned his head to look at Sawamura and nodded in agreement, "So, what kind of dog is Sawamura?"
"A Husky!"
Bang!
Just as they were chatting in the Dugout, Kuramochi on the field chose to bunt, lightly tapping the ball. Kuramochi's lightning-fast legs were displayed once again, but the ball's landing spot wasn't good; it rolled near the Pitcher.
Clap!
The Pitcher's throw was fast. The moment before Kuramochi was about to reach base, the baseball entered the First Baseman's glove.
With Kuramochi's out, the top of the third ended, score 15:0.
In the bottom of the third, Furuya Satoru's pitching was still full of power. Although Coach Chiba saw that Furuya's control was a bit poor, he had just urged his players not to be anxious to swing and to wait for a Strike to hit.
As a result, Miyuki called for a forkball in this inning.
The result was another three-up, three-down. Although the ball was hit, Seido's defense finally had something to do, easily resolving Mishimen's offensive.
"Sawamura! Get ready to go on!"
After the third inning ended, Coach Kataoka said to Sawamura, who had already finished warming up.
"Kid, you have to perform well; you can't lose to Furuya."
"Haha, if you mess up, you'll lose to Furuya, you know."
The teammates knew that Furuya and Sawamura were in a competitive relationship, and at this moment, they didn't hesitate to add fuel to the fire for the two of them.
Hearing the upperclassmen's teasing, before Sawamura could speak, Furuya Satoru, who had just come off the field, spoke up: "I won't lose."
"Huh?! Furuya, you guy, I'm the one who's going to win!" Sawamura shouted.
"It's me."
"Me!"
In the top of the fourth, Kominato Ryosuke once again showed everyone his ability to spin the ball and his superb hitting technique, grinding down Mishimen's ace for 11 pitches! Finally, he hit the ball through the infield defense and, amidst the Pitcher's resentful gaze, smiled as he reached First Base. Afterward, Isashiki Jun hit an infield pop-fly and was put out.
The 4th Batter, Yuki Tetsuya, hit an Infield Hit, and the 5th Batter, Huangqian Yangyi, blasted an Extra-base Hit against the wall in Right Field. By the time the ball was thrown back, Kominato Ryosuke had already returned to Home Plate, while Yuki Tetsuya and Huangqian Yangyi had each reached Second and Third Base.
"Score another run!"
"Miyuki!!"
Seeing Miyuki stand in the Batter's Box, cheers rang out from the sidelines again; Seido's fans all knew that although Miyuki could now display his power at the plate when the bases were empty, if one really had to say when his hitting was at its strongest, it had to be when there were runners on base.
"Well~ these annoying guys, their expectations for me are really high." Miyuki muttered softly, his words heard entirely by the Mishimen Catcher nearby.
Sigh~
The Catcher sighed; it was already 16:0, couldn't you guys stop being so serious?
Just hold on a little longer, it will be over in 5 innings, the Catcher secretly cheered himself on.
Very quickly, the pitcher threw the ball, and Miyuki's bat swept past the Catcher, Bang!
A base hit through first and Second Base, Yuki Tetsuya returned to home plate, 17:0.
