Chapter 273: Concert?

~7 min read 1,282 words

"What defeats tricks is always true ability."

"The Yakushi team has a lot of potential and might become a powerhouse that shakes up West Tokyo in the future, but right now, they aren't enough."

After listening to Fujio's analysis, Akiko nodded as if she understood, "In short, they are still a distance away from being a truly top-tier team, right?"

"That's right. If it weren't for their arrogance and that accident, it should have been Ichidai Sanko on the field right now."

On the field, Sanada Shunpei, who had given his all but still lost the game, looked up at the sky and slowly closed his eyes. Although he had anticipated this result, when the moment truly arrived, a strong sense of unwillingness still surged in his heart.

Behind him, the other Yakushi players were either hanging their heads in frustration or weeping softly. Todoroki Raichi listened to the sobbing of the third-year seniors beside him, standing there dazed and lost.

Having just entered his First Year, he was a person who was simple to the extreme, and before this, he had never thought about what would happen if they lost a game.

Until this very moment, the seniors' unwillingness and regret made him fully understand that high school baseball is a game where there is no do-over once you lose.

Gradually, Todoroki Raichi came back to his senses, his body trembling, and tears slid from the corners of his eyes.

On the sidelines, Todoroki Raizo sighed powerlessly. Being able to make it this far was already quite good, but to say he had no regrets at all in his heart was naturally impossible.

"Line up!!"

Todoroki Raizo shouted.

In the Seido dugout, after the game ended, Kawakami looked unwilling; he had only pitched one inning!

Although ending the game early was a good thing, he really wanted to pitch a few more balls, especially to try out his Slow Sinker more during the game.

"Don't have regrets, there are plenty of games left. Besides, your Slow Sinker only threw one pitch; in the next game, or the one after, it can play an even greater role," Huangqian Yangyi said.

Kawakami nodded, "I understand."

"Let's go, line up!" Captain Yuki Tetsuya called out to everyone.

The two teams came to the center of the field. Huangqian Yangyi and Sanada Shunpei shook hands, the latter wearing a smile on his face.

"Keep winning all the way. It would be best if the champion this summer is still you guys."

"Oh? Sincere?" Huangqian Yangyi chuckled.

"Sincere. Once you win the championship and come back, we'll defeat you then; that will be even more valuable," Sanada Shunpei said.

Huangqian Yangyi laughed: "Looking at you, your body is already very tired. Go back and sleep quickly; you can have anything in your dreams."

"Heh." Sanada Shunpei also sneered. He really doesn't take any losses at all. Even after winning the game, he won't let me have the last word. A heartless guy.

After Sanada Shunpei, Todoroki Raichi walked in front of Huangqian Yangyi, "Next time, I will hit your ball!"

"Is that so? Good luck."

Although his tone was flat, Huangqian Yangyi was indeed looking forward to how strong Todoroki Raichi would be once he truly matured.

Watching the Yakushi team leave, Huangqian Yangyi had no particular feelings and felt no sympathy. Too many people and teams had been defeated by his hands, and among them, the one devastated the most miserably was naturally Inashiro Industrial, where Narumiya Mei was.

It's been a few days since I've seen him; I actually kind of miss the little blondie.

This guy was watching the game from the stands just now, right? He didn't even say hello; how rude.

Returning to the locker room, the Seido group changed their clothes and, led by Coach Kataoka and Coach Ochiai, went to the stands. The next game was Inashiro's.

The game went very smoothly with almost no major ups and downs. Inashiro's overall strength had risen another level compared to before, and Narumiya Mei's pitching was still as sharp as ever, even clocking in a top speed of 151 km/h.

"This little blondie, he really doesn't admit defeat at all."

After Inashiro's game ended, Huangqian Yangyi looked at Narumiya Mei's back with deep emotion.

"He's always been like this," Miyuki said.

"It's a pity, the champion for these three years will only be our Seido." After saying this, Huangqian Yangyi picked up his bag and stood up.

Miyuki smiled and followed behind.

Returning to Seido High School, Huangqian Yangyi took a shower, changed into light sportswear, and went to the cafeteria. After a full meal, he walked around the campus to digest.

Every few steps, classmates from the same school would greet him. As the ace of the baseball team, Huangqian Yangyi was someone no one in Seido didn't know.

After walking for less than half an hour, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. A message.

Narumiya Mei: "Wait for it, see you in the finals!"

Huangqian Yangyi: "?"

Narumiya Mei: "!"

Huangqian Yangyi didn't reply, so Narumiya Mei was left alone, furious.

Just as he put his phone back into his pocket, the ringtone sounded again.

This little blondie, his temper is still so impatient.

Huangqian Yangyi thought it was a call from Narumiya Mei, but after taking it out to look, he found it wasn't.

"Sis?"

"Yangyi, I'm at your school gate," Huangqian Mamiko's voice came through.

"What are you doing here?" Huangqian Yangyi asked.

"You're itching for a beating, aren't you?! I know you're resting, get out here immediately!"

"Yes, yes, yes."

Huangqian Yangyi felt helpless. Being in Tokyo, his sister Mamiko had learned enough about some of the small rules at Seido, and she had long known that they would rest on game days.

Arriving at the school gate, Huangqian Yangyi saw Mamiko wearing a light yellow long dress, a sun hat, and holding a small bag, standing at the entrance.

Hmm? Why didn't I notice before? My sister is actually quite pretty.

"Sis!"

"Come over, come over quickly." Mamiko waved happily.

Arriving in front of his sister, Huangqian Yangyi asked curiously: "Why did you come over today? Is something the matter?"

Mamiko giggled and fished a few tickets out of her bag—not money.

"These are?"

"Concert tickets."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Mamiko shook the tickets in her hand, "A while ago, I met some new friends at a music event off-campus; they play in a band at the women's university next door. They are holding a concert at the Budokan next week and specifically gave me a few tickets to invite me to go."

"Is that so? That's great." Huangqian Yangyi nodded, then realized: "You want me to go with you?"

"Congratulations, you guessed right." Mamiko handed three of the tickets to Huangqian Yangyi.

"You found a teacher for Kumiko, right? Her first lesson is next week, so you can just take her along. Oh, and I heard Reina will be coming too."

Hearing these two names, Huangqian Yangyi, who had originally wanted to refuse, immediately nodded in agreement. A week later, the Summer Tournament would already be over, and the team would have two or three days of vacation, so watching a concert wouldn't get in the way of anything.

"What's the band's name?" Huangqian Yangyi asked.

"After School Tea Time."

"That name is pretty cute."

"Right? Right? Let me tell you, those friends of mine are super adorable!"

The siblings chatted while strolling along the nearby streets, and it wasn't until after they had dinner together in the evening that Huangqian Yangyi was finally able to get away and return to school.
