Chapter 24: Cultivation Results: Major Improvement

~6 min read 1,057 words

Ten days passed in the blink of an eye, and Chu Danqing and Da Bao reaped tremendous gains.

Especially Da Bao, who fully digested and absorbed the power gained from devouring the Cave Beast Priest.

Now, if he encountered the Cave Beast Priest again, killing him would be effortless.

【Beast Instinct (Passive) LV.MAX】

【Combat Intuition (Passive) LV.MAX: Greatly enhances combat thinking and reaction speed; enters Fearless State when HP drops to 50%】

Beyond attribute and skill upgrades, the true gain of these ten days was the MAX-level skill Combat Intuition, derived from Beast Instinct.

The Fearless State does not boost attributes at the cost of sanity like the Rage State; instead, it increases resistance to negative statuses and allows Da Bao to distinguish friend from foe and obey Chu Danqing’s commands.

He no longer needed to worry that Da Bao would attack him during Rage State.

As for why his attributes didn’t reach 10 or his skills LV10, that was Chu Danqing’s fault.

Because his Summoning Theory and Summoning Technique base levels were insufficient.

During his ten days studying under the Holy Son, he only raised both base skills to LV5.

【Summoning Theory Base: LV5】

【Skill Effect: Increases summoned creature’s full attributes by 5%; summoned creature gains 10% of the Apostle’s average attributes】

【Summoning Technique Base: LV5】

【Skill Effect: Increases summoned creature’s talent and skill effects by 5%; enhances summoned creature’s potential and growth】

To raise Da Bao’s five attributes to 10 and his skills to LV10, the Holy Son said he must first raise both base skills to their maximum level—LV10.

Base skills cap at LV10; further upgrades require advancing them into Proficient skills.

“Spending these ten days with you, I have been greatly pleased.”

“The root of Da Bao’s enhanced Bleeding skill still exists, but there is insufficient power to sustain it.”

“If one day you raise your base skills to maximum level, seek out celestial treasures and rare herbs to nurture him further—there is a good chance he will regain his former glory.”

“You already know the cultivation method; feel free to try it yourself.”

“Moreover, I urge you to maintain him diligently, never slackening.”

“Cultivation is like rowing upstream; if you do not advance, you retreat,” the Holy Son earnestly warned Chu Danqing.

He still held high regard for Chu Danqing, who had fully satisfied his emotional needs these past days.

Chu Danqing’s previous job involved traveling for business, meeting clients, and maintaining clients—so while he wasn’t exceptional at reading people, he was certainly competent.

“I should be the one thanking you, Young Master, for your teachings these past days,” Chu Danqing replied, naturally following the advice—it benefited him.

“Should we meet again in the future, I likely will not remember you, for I am but a projection.” With those words, the Holy Son’s figure slowly vanished.

Chu Danqing, carrying his recording device and a thick stack of notes, left the training chamber with Da Bao.

“Let’s go, first to the Attribute Chamber to allocate our points,” Chu Danqing planned to follow the Holy Son’s recommended distribution.

Though called a “chamber,” the Enhancement Chamber was a massive building; guided by Life Apostles, Chu Danqing was quickly assigned an empty slot.

【Current Attribute Points: 2】

【Tip: Avoid excessive disparity among the five attributes】

“In any system, the five attributes are essential and inseparable; Paradise encourages balanced development.”

“But gathering enough points is not easy—just advancing from Reserve to Rank One with full attribute development requires 25 points.”

He allocated his two points to Agility and Perception.

【Enable Anesthesia Function? This is a permanent feature; activation costs 100 Paradise Points】

“No,” Chu Danqing scoffed. “I don’t believe it could hurt that much.” He distrusted the anesthesia—it would also diminish the enhancement effect.

【Attribute allocation complete. Enhancement begins.】

The next instant, searing pain erupted from within, twisting Chu Danqing’s face.

But due to the Enhancement Chamber’s mechanism, he could not scream—he turned red from holding it in.

【Attributes】

【Strength: 5】

【Agility: 6】

【Constitution: 6】

【Spirit: 5】

【Perception: 6】

Ten minutes later, Chu Danqing staggered out of the Enhancement Chamber, utterly drained; Da Bao caught him before he collapsed.

Otherwise, he would have slumped like a noodle onto the floor.

“You… you okay?” Da Bao asked, worried.

“Fine. Rest a few minutes, I’ll recover,” Chu Danqing said, jaw aching from gritting his teeth—but now was not the time to rest: “To the True Spirit Hall.”

The True Spirit Hall was a unique structure in the Dimension Paradise, one of the few exclusive buildings among the five factions.

Its effect: awaken the True Spirit power embedded in equipment.

Four known outcomes exist: attribute enhancement, skill upgrade, skill activation, and quality advancement.

And awakening is not limited to once—number of possible awakenings depends on the equipment’s quality and condition.

Drawback: Not all equipment contains a True Spirit; only the True Spirit Hall can identify them.

Of the equipment Chu Danqing carried, he suspected only the Hungering Grudge might harbor a True Spirit.

The rest were doubtful.

He went to the True Spirit Hall first because even unawakened equipment with a True Spirit fetches a higher price.

But awakening a True Spirit requires substantial Paradise Points, varying by equipment quality, awakening potential, and maximum awakenings.

Generally, if one obtains equipment with high awakening potential, it can last through Rank One and even Rank Two without replacement.

But such equipment is exceedingly rare.

“I don’t know the way,” Da Bao said.

“I’ll guide you,” Chu Danqing replied, considering buying Da Bao a Type-I Data Crystal—spending a little to prevent him from getting lost in the Apostle Plaza.

He then directed Da Bao toward the default first area for Reserve Apostles, based on memory.

As for teaching him—Chu Danqing never entertained the idea.

The Holy Son had judged Da Bao: outside combat, he was utterly unteachable.

His only combat strength came from the Beast Instinct skill.
