Chapter 249: Entering the Martial Venerable Ruins

~7 min read 1,276 words

The Grand Master of the North Sea Mo Family stood up, his face full of incomprehension.

According to the earlier news spread by the Qin Family, it was clearly set to open tomorrow.

Not only the Mo Family, many of those present also showed doubtful expressions, whispering to each other.

"Yeah, why was it suddenly moved forward? We have no preparation at all!"

"What is the Qin Family doing? Even if they move it forward, they should at least give a heads‑up,"

The murmurs were not loud, yet they reached Qin Feihong's ears clearly.

His gaze swept over the Mo Family Grandmaster, his tone devoid of any feeling.

"The timing for opening the Martial Venerable Ruins has always been decided jointly by the Qin Family and Yitian Pavilion. If any of you are unwilling to open it today, you may leave on your own; no one will stop you. But this once‑in‑a‑hundred‑years opportunity, not to mention that our Qin Family has never denied you any chance,"

As soon as those words were spoken, the whole venue fell silent, and everyone's expression changed.

Leave on one's own?

How could that be possible!

For the opportunity within the Martial Venerable Ruins, they traveled thousands of miles to Xiangcheng, expending countless manpower and resources; how could they abandon it simply because it opened early?

If they left, wouldn't they miss a tremendous chance for nothing?

The two Mo Family Grandmasters' faces turned pale and then white, and they exchanged a glance.

The Mo Family Grandmaster who stood up inhaled deeply, suppressed his displeasure, and bowed his hands to Qin Feihong.

"Qin Tianren is joking, we are not unwilling, just a bit surprised. Since Qin Tianren has already decided, we have no objections,"

Having said that, he sat down sheepishly.

Qin Feihong looked at the crowd's compliant demeanor and nodded.

"Since no one objects, there is no time to waste; let's set out immediately,"

As the words fell, he was the first to stand and walked toward the courtyard exit.

Members of the various major factions, seeing this, also rose and followed.

The procession moved grandly toward the back mountain of the Qin Family Manor.

The Qin Family's back mountain was extremely remote; after walking about half an hour, they finally arrived beneath a towering cliff that pierced the clouds.

The cliff was entirely jet‑black, soaring straight into the sky, its summit invisible at a glance.

Below the cliff lay a bottomless abyss.

At this moment, the clearing beneath the cliff had been cleaned spotless, leaving only a few bare giant stones.

Qin Feihong walked to the foot of the cliff, stood firm, turned, and swept his gaze over everyone present.

"Let me remind you all once more, the Martial Venerable Ruins contain endless opportunities, but dangers lurk everywhere; a slight slip could cost a life,"

"Although opportunities depend on one's ability, the major factions you represent have centuries of ties in the jianghu, bowing and looking up. Therefore I ask you, after entering the ruins, not to kill each other over petty gains and ruin the jianghu rules,"

He paused, his gaze turning fierce, and the pressure of the Heavenly Human Realm was released without reservation.

"If anyone inside harbors malicious intent, daring to kill and seize treasures, our Qin Family will never let them go! They shall pay a painful price!"

Ye Jinghong also stepped forward, stood beside Qin Feihong, and spoke lightly.

"The Lingnan Sword Sect, likewise,"

As he spoke, his gaze deliberately lingered on the Heavenly Ruined Daoist for a moment, carrying a clear warning.

Everyone understood that Ye Jinghong's words were mainly addressed to the Heavenly Ruined Daoist.

The Heavenly Ruined Daoist stood among the crowd, felt Ye Jinghong's gaze, his complexion changed slightly, yet he said nothing, merely lowering his eyelids with an indifferent air.

He knew clearly that Ye Jinghong was giving him a warning.

Before breaking through the Heavenly Human Realm, he indeed could not clash with Jiang Feng.

But after entering the ruins, the situation inside is complex; as long as he acts covertly and strikes when Jiang Feng is unprepared, who would know it was him?

Qin Feihong, seeing no objections, nodded and turned his gaze toward Miao Linfeng.

Miao Linfeng immediately stepped out of the crowd.

When passing Jiang Feng, Miao Linfeng's steps faltered, she turned her head and looked at Jiang Feng.

"Master Jiang, after the Martial Venerable Ruins open, the interior is uncertain and fraught with danger. If you do not mind, you may act together with my Yitian Pavilion; our pavilion is united, providing support,"

She knew that her previous hesitation had already created a rift between Jiang Feng and Yitian Pavilion.

Thus she extended the invitation, desperately hoping to atone for her earlier mistake.

Jiang Feng looked at her, a detached smile appearing on his face, yet he said nothing.

Miao Linfeng, seeing this, sighed silently.

She knew Jiang Feng no longer wished to be linked with Yitian Pavilion.

She simply gave no further words, gave Jiang Feng a slight nod, turned, and hurried to Qin Feihong's side.

Qin Feihong looked at Miao Linfeng, nodded, and the two exchanged a glance, simultaneously reaching into their bosoms to pull out a Jade Pendant.

Both tossed the Jade Pendant toward the abyss beneath the cliff.

The two Jade Pendants traced graceful arcs in the air, like meteors falling into the abyss, vanishing instantly.

At the moment the pendants vanished, the sky suddenly darkened, and fierce winds roared.

Jiang Feng's gaze tightened as he looked up at the sky.

Above the cliff, a massive black vortex suddenly emerged in the sky.

The vortex spanned dozens of zhang in diameter, spinning rapidly, generating a powerful suction that scrambled the surrounding airflow, even devouring much of the light.

Within the vortex, faint golden glimmers flickered, exuding an ancient, mysterious aura that inspired awe.

Miao Linfeng, watching the vortex, said nothing more, leapt, her form turning into a purple streak of light that plunged straight into the vortex, vanishing instantly.

Qin Feihong stared at the vortex and spoke coldly.

"The Martial Venerable Ruins are open, everyone, be at your own liberty!"

As the words fell, the three Grand Masters of the Qin Family behind him exchanged glances and simultaneously leapt, diving into the vortex.

The Heavenly Remnant Daoist lifted his head and coldly glanced at Jiang Feng.

Then he no longer hesitated; his figure flashed, turning into a streak of black light, and without hesitation leapt into the vortex.

The two Grandmasters of the North Sea Mo Family exchanged glances, nodded, and likewise leapt into the vortex.

Long Jia Da Chang Lao said to Long Bad Dao: "Long Bad Dao, follow Mr. Jiang, be careful in all matters! If Danger, don't act tough; preserving your life is paramount!"

The people from the other Factions also no longer hesitated; one by one they leapt, jumping toward the vortex like dumplings being dropped.

Soon, on the Ground only Jiang Feng and Long Bad Dao remained.

"Jiang Feng, let's go too! Let's snatch the treasure!"

Long Bad Dao rubbed his hands, his face eager.

Jiang Feng nodded, his gaze sweeping over the rotating black vortex.

"Go."

The two, one ahead of the other, plunged into the massive vortex.

As soon as he entered the vortex, Jiang Feng felt a powerful suction, as if it would tear his body apart.

The surrounding space twisted violently, and the scene before his eyes became obscure.

He could feel his body falling rapidly, yet it seemed to be pulled through by some force; everything around became extremely twisted, and even the concepts of time and space grew obscure.
