Chapter 490: Wedding Ceremony Ends!

~7 min read 1,287 words

Jiang Feng helped Old Master Su walk out of the ward, the two of them slowly heading downstairs.

When they reached the hospital lobby, Jiang Feng looked around but did not see Su Xueyan's figure.

Ma Jian stood by the car waiting; seeing them come out, he hurried forward and reached out to support Su Lao.

"Grandpa Su, please go slowly."

Su Lao nodded and, with Ma Jian's help, got into the car.

Jiang Feng did not get into the car; he stood beside it, his brows slightly furrowed.

He looked around, then glanced toward the hospital entrance, and turned to ask Ma Jian.

"Did you see Xue Yan?"

Ma Jian shook his head with a puzzled expression.

"No, I've been waiting here the whole time and didn't see her come out."

Jiang Feng's brows furrowed even deeper.

Su Xueyan had come down first; logically she should have arrived by now.

Could she have taken the wrong way? Or gone somewhere else?

Jiang Feng was about to turn back to look for her when he suddenly saw two people walking out from inside the hospital doors.

One was Su Xueyan, the other was Grandma Su.

Su Xueyan walked very slowly, her steps unsteady, her whole appearance listless, as if she had lost her soul.

Her complexion was very pale, her eye sockets red, obviously she had been crying.

Grandma Su walked beside her, leaning on a crutch.

Seeing this, Jiang Feng's brows locked tight, and a bad premonition welled up in his heart.

He quickly walked up to her and stood before Su Xueyan.

"Xue Yan, what's wrong?"

Jiang Feng's voice carried a hint of concern; his gaze swept over Su Xueyan's face, then glanced at Grandma Su.

Grandma Su's face was expressionless; she said nothing.

Su Xueyan raised her head, looking at Jiang Feng, her lips trembling, tears welling up in her eye sockets.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but her throat felt blocked, and no sound came out.

Jiang Feng reached out to take her hand, asking concernedly.

"Did she say something to you again?"

Su Xueyan's body trembled slightly; she instinctively stepped back half a step, avoiding Jiang Feng's hand.

Jiang Feng's hand froze in midair.

Su Xueyan took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice steady, but it still trembled.

"Jiang Feng, I'm preparing to go to Rui Country with Grandma."

As soon as she said that, Jiang Feng's face changed dramatically.

He stared at Su Xueyan, his eyes full of disbelief.

"Xue Yan, what did you say?"

Su Xueyan bit her lip, tears swirling in her eye sockets, but she forced herself not to let them fall.

Her voice was soft, but each word seemed to be spoken with all her strength.

"I said, I want to go to Rui Country with Grandma."

Jiang Feng's head buzzed, going blank.

He remained silent for a moment, then spoke, his voice somewhat low.

"Then what about our wedding? How do we handle it?"

Hearing this, Su Xueyan felt her heart as if clenched tightly, painful to the point of being unable to breathe.

Her tears finally could not be held back, falling down her cheeks.

But she did not wipe them; she simply stood there, letting the tears slide down.

After a while, she finally spoke, her voice hoarse, filled with endless pain.

"The wedding……let it end like this."

These words were like a dagger, stabbing hard into Jiang Feng's heart.

His complexion turned ashen, his eyes full of incomprehension.

He couldn't understand; just a moment ago everything was fine, how did it suddenly become like this?

Jiang Feng turned his head, his gaze dark as he looked at Grandma Su.

He was quite sure that Grandma Su must have said something that caused Su Xueyan to change her mind.

Grandma Su stood at the side, her expression calm, her eyes showing a hint of smugness.

She looked at Jiang Feng, gave a cold smile, her tone tinged with mockery.

"Jiang Feng, did you hear? This is Xue Yan's own choice."

She paused, then continued.

"I hope you respect her decision!"

Jiang Feng stared at Grandma Su, the chill in his eyes almost condensing into substance.

His hands clenched tightly, knuckles whitening, veins bulging.

But he did not lash out, because Su Xueyan stood beside him, and he did not want to act in front of her.

Grandma Su ignored Jiang Feng's gaze, pulled out a check from her pocket, and handed it to him.

"As for your ten billion betrothal gift, I can return it to you."

I only hope you won't harass Xue Yan again.

Jiang Feng looked at the check but didn't take it.

His gaze shifted from the check to Su Xueyan.

Su Xueyan lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes.

Her shoulders trembled slightly, tears falling one by one onto the ground.

Su Lao took back the check, turned and walked toward a nanny car not far away.

After a few steps, she stopped, turned back and shouted at Su Xueyan.

"Xue Yan, come get in the car with grandma."

"The plane to Rui Country, grandma has already arranged it."

Su Xueyan's body trembled, she lifted her head and glanced at Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

But before he could speak, Su Xueyan spoke.

Her voice was soft, with a hint of pleading, her eye sockets red, her eyes full of reluctance and suffering.

"Jiang Feng, I know you're very capable."

She paused, took a deep breath, and continued.

"But this time, will you listen to me?"

Jiang Feng looked at her, his heart felt as if blocked, making him unable to speak from discomfort.

Su Xueyan looked at him, forcing a smile, but it was uglier than crying.

"Rest assured, when I return from Rui Country one day, if you're still willing..."

Her voice grew softer and lower, as if she were speaking to herself.

"I, Su Xueyan, am still your wife."

After saying that, Su Xueyan seemed to have exhausted all her strength.

She turned around, didn't look back, and walked step by step toward the nanny car.

Her back was frail, her steps heavy, each step felt like stepping on Jiang Feng's heart.

Jiang Feng stood in place, watching her back, his nails digging into his palms.

He wanted to catch up.

But he didn't move.

Because of Su Xueyan's pleading gaze just now, he couldn't bring himself to take that step.

Su Xueyan walked to the nanny car, Su Lao had already gotten in and was sitting inside waiting for her.

She stood at the car door, hesitated, then turned back and glanced at Jiang Feng.

Their gazes met in the air, separated by several meters, neither spoke.

Su Xueyan's tears fell again, she bit her lip, turned and got into the car.

The car door closed.

The nanny car started up and slowly drove away from the hospital entrance.

Jiang Feng stood in place, watching the car go away, motionless.

Ma Jian stood beside, watching this scene, anxious enough to stomp his feet.

"Jiang Ge! Sister-in-law left! Why didn't you stop her!"

Jiang Feng didn't speak, just watched the direction the car disappeared, his eyes full of complex emotions.

Su Lao sat in the car, also having seen what just happened.

His complexion was awful, his lips trembling, wanting to say something but ultimately saying nothing.

He just let out a long sigh and closed his eyes.

In his mind, Su Xueyan's words from just now played over and over.

Eventually, his gaze turned cold.

"Ma Jian, contact Jiangnan Wang, I need to find out what's going on with the Linghu Family!"
