Chapter 494: Rui State again?

~8 min read 1,494 words

Jiang Feng didn't know that someone had set their sights on the Su Family, and moreover, it was someone from the Linghu Family.

He sat in the living room of the Su Family Villa, thinking about how to go and retrieve Su Xueyan.

His phone suddenly rang.

The screen displayed a name: Jiang Yan.

Jiang Feng's heart stirred instantly.

Jiang Yan called him; it should be about those photos he had sent her last time, which she has now translated.

Back when they were in the Underground Palace, Jiang Feng had photographed those ancient writings and murals on the walls, especially the contents of that black-covered book.

Although he could understand part of it himself, some of the Ancient Wu Empire's script was too obscure, so he needed a professional's translation.

Jiang Yan had an archaeology background, with deep research into ancient scripts; last time he had sent her the photos and asked her to help translate.

So many days have passed; there should be results by now.

Jiang Feng pressed the answer button.

"Hello?"

From the other end of the phone came Jiang Yan's voice, tinged with excitement.

"Jiang Feng, those photos you sent me—I've translated them!"

Jiang Feng felt a surge of joy and asked.

"How is it? What does it say?"

Jiang Yan said.

"I can't make it clear over the phone; there's too much content. Also, I'm not entirely sure about some parts, so I need to tell you in person. Are you available now? I'll come find you."

Jiang Feng thought for a moment and said.

"I'll come find you; where are you?"

Jiang Yan said.

"I'm at the research institute; just come straight over."

Jiang Feng gave an affirmative hum and hung up the phone.

He stood up, went out the door, and Ma Jian's car was still parked at the entrance.

"Jiang Ge, where are we headed?"

Ma Jian asked.

Jiang Feng said.

"To the research institute, to find Jiang Yan."

Ma Jian nodded, started the car, and drove toward the research institute.

The research institute isn't far from the Su Family Villa; it takes over twenty minutes by car to get there.

It is a gray old building that looks aged, with much of the paint on its walls peeled off.

Jiang Feng got out of the car, entered the building, went up to the third floor, and arrived at Jiang Yan's office door.

The door was open; Jiang Yan sat behind her desk, with a thick stack of papers spread out before her, covered in writing.

Seeing Jiang Feng enter, Jiang Yan lifted her head and smiled.

"You're here? Please have a seat."

Jiang Feng sat opposite her, glanced at the stack of papers on the desk, and asked.

"Are these all the translations?"

Jiang Yan nodded, her eyes full of excitement.

"Yes, those photos you gave me—I spent a long time translating them completely. Some of the characters are extremely ancient; I consulted many sources and even asked a few foreign experts before I could barely make sense of them."

She said this while picking up the top sheet and handing it to Jiang Feng.

"Take a look at this first."

Jiang Feng took it and lowered his head to read.

The paper contained the content of the first page of that black-covered book.

"The Way of Space-Time is not in the book, but in the heart."

Jiang Feng already knew this sentence, but he didn't interrupt Jiang Yan and continued reading downward.

Jiang Yan pointed at the characters on the paper and explained.

"This passage means that the laws of space-time cannot be learned merely from books; one must comprehend them personally. The book is only a guide; true cultivation lies within the individual."

Jiang Feng nodded; he already knew these things.

Jiang Yan then picked up the second sheet and said.

"The diagram on the second page, I consulted foreign experts who said it is a very ancient formation diagram. The circle represents space, and the dots inside represent time. Space and time are mutually dependent; neither can be lacking."

Her tone carried a hint of astonishment.

"This theory predates modern physics by who knows how many years. The people of the Ancient Wu Empire had already attained a very high level of understanding of space-time."

Jiang Feng listened, saying nothing.

Jiang Yan continued speaking, turning to the third sheet.

"The third page contains only one sentence: 'Whoever obtains this book becomes my disciple. But remember, the Way of Space-Time defies heaven; proceed with caution, caution.'"

"The owner of this book seems worried that whoever gets it might encounter trouble; he keeps stressing 'caution, caution,' indicating that the Way of Space-Time is extremely dangerous."

Jiang Feng nodded; he also knew this.

The warning left by the Great Law Martial Ancestor is no joke.

Jiang Yan then picked up another stack of papers and said.

"Besides the book's contents, I have also translated part of the murals you photographed."

Her expression became solemn.

"Those murals tell the history of the Dragon Clan."

Jiang Feng's eyes narrowed, and he sat up straight.

"Dragon Clan?"

Jiang Yan nodded.

"Yes, Dragon Clan. According to the records on the murals, the Dragon Clan is an extremely ancient race that existed several Ten Thousand years ago. They possess great power, even able to control time and space."

She paused, then continued speaking.

"But later, the Dragon Clan suffered an internal war, fought until the sky darkened and the earth dimmed, with countless casualties. The battle scenes depicted on the murals are the Dragon Clan's civil war."

Jiang Feng did not speak, waiting for her to continue.

Jiang Yan flipped over a sheet of paper, on which a black dragon was drawn.

"That black dragon is likely a key figure in the Dragon Clan's civil war. According to the murals, it was once the Dragon Clan's strongest warrior, but in the civil war it lost its reason and became a madman who knows only killing."

She looked at Jiang Feng and asked.

"Do you know this dragon?"

Jiang Feng remained silent for a moment, then nodded.

"I suppose I know him."

Jiang Yan was taken aback, but did not ask further, and continued speaking.

"The murals also say that this black dragon was finally subdued by a person using a Bead. That person wore a white robe and held a golden Bead."

She paused, her eyes full of doubt.

"But the murals do not say who that person was, nor what that Bead was. The Back content is broken off, as if it had been deliberately erased."

Jiang Feng knew that the person was the Kunlun Patriarch and the Bead was the Chaos Pearl.

But he did not say it out, only asking.

"Anything else?"

Jiang Yan shook her head.

"That's all. I translated what I could from the photos you gave me. Some parts are too Obscurity to see clearly."

She looked at Jiang Feng, her eyes showing a hint of curiosity.

"Jiang Feng, where did you find these things? This is a major discovery; if made public, the entire archaeological world would be shaken."

Jiang Feng glanced at her and said lightly.

"These things cannot be made public."

Jiang Yan was taken aback.

"Why?"

Jiang Feng said.

"It's too Danger. The fewer people who know, the better."

Jiang Yan looked at his expression, knowing he was not joking, and nodded.

"Alright, I'll listen to you."

She paused, then spoke again.

"By the way, there's one more thing."

Jiang Feng looked at her.

"What is it?"

Jiang Yan said.

"Among the photos you gave me, one shows a map. I had someone look at it, and the location marked on the map seems to be in Rui Country."

As soon as she said that, Jiang Feng's face changed.

"Rui Country?"

"Rui Country again."

"Su Xueyan went to Rui Country, and the location now marked on the map is also in Rui Country."

"Is this a coincidence?"

Jiang Feng felt a bad premonition welling up in his heart.

He asked.

"Specifically where in Rui Country?"

Jiang Yan picked up a sheet of paper on which a rough map was drawn.

"Roughly at this location, a Mountain area in northern Rui Country. I'm not sure exactly what Place it is."

Jiang Feng looked at that map and committed the location to memory.

He stood up and said to Jiang Yan.

"Thank you for today."

Jiang Yan waved her hand.

"Don't be polite; this is also of great significance to my research..."

Ma Jian was still waiting downstairs, and seeing Jiang Feng come out, he asked.

"Jiang Ge, how is it?"

Jiang Feng got into the car and said.

"Go back first."

Ma Jian started the car and drove toward the Su Family Villa.

In the car, Jiang Feng closed his eyes, his brain thinking of the words Jiang Yan had said.

At that moment, he suddenly opened his eyes!

Danger!
