Chapter 62: Suspect

"The Su Family was robbed? What's going on? I'm on my way!"

Officer Shen, as soon as she heard the Su Family incident, immediately called her subordinates.

"The Su Family Villa has a major case; bring the investigation gear and come with me!"

She arrived at the Su Family Villa gate in less than ten minutes, just in time to meet the Serious Crime Unit members there.

Officer Shen stepped into the living room and saw Su Ruiqing, Jiang Feng, and Su Xueyan already there.

"Officer Shen, you finally made it!"

Su Ruiqing, upon seeing her, hurried forward, still clutching the Underground Chamber key.

"The Underground Chamber was forced open! The Xuan Nuan Jade Essence is gone, and also our three‑generation jadeite ornament and Qing‑dynasty calligraphy and paintings have vanished!"

Officer Shen frowned, "Su Lao, don't be hasty; first take us to the scene."

The group arrived at the Underground Chamber.

"Technical Team, collect evidence immediately!"

Officer Shen shouted toward the police behind her, and several technicians in white coats stepped forward at once.

They took photos with a camera, used a brush to collect traces on the ground, and someone crouched by the safety deposit box, carefully inspecting the lock.

Su Ruiqing stood nearby, his eyes sharp, "No need to investigate further; it must be Su Shian and his group. No outsider could get in here besides family members!"

Jiang Feng, however, pointed at the wall and said, "Officer Shen, look at these footprints."

Officer Shen walked over and looked in the direction Jiang Feng indicated.

The footprints on the floor were faint, evenly spaced, each imprint's depth nearly identical—clearly not those of an ordinary person.

Ordinary people's steps vary in pressure, but these prints were so even they looked measured with a ruler.

"This person doesn't look like a typical thief?"

Officer Shen immediately understood Jiang Feng's point.

"Right, he's proficient in Lightness Skill."

"His steps are light, his landing steady, and from the door to the safety deposit box he touched nothing; his movements are practiced, clearly premeditated."

Officer Shen nodded.

She turned to Su Ruiqing, "Su Lao, who has recently visited the villa from the Su Family, especially anyone who knows the Underground Chamber exists?"

Su Ruiqing answered without hesitation.

"Who else? Just Su Shian, Su Jianlong and the like! Ever since I drove them out of the company, they've been causing trouble daily; yesterday Su Shian was shouting at the gate, claiming I'm biased and that they deserve a share of the Su Family's assets!"

At that, Su Xueyan also nodded.

"Grandfather is right; a few days ago Su Jianlong even sent a servant to deliver a message, asking if I could plead on his behalf before Grandfather to let him return to the company. I ignored him."

Officer Shen formed a preliminary judgment and instructed her subordinates.

"Xiao Li, go now and bring Su Shian, Su Jianlong and the others here; I will interrogate them myself!"

"Got it!"

The officer named Xiao Li quickly took out his phone and contacted colleagues to bring a team.

Su Ruiqing, still angry, slammed his crutch onto the floor.

"These treacherous wolves! I once lifted them from penniless boys to multimillion‑dollar magnates, and now they steal from our home! Once the trial is over, I'll see to it they are fully punished, so they learn the Su Family's rules!"

Jiang Feng patted Su Ruiqing's shoulder.

"Su Lao, don't get worked up yet; there might be other possibilities. We'll discuss after the interrogation."

"What other possibilities?"

Su Ruiqing hummed.

"Besides them, who else covets the Su Family's assets? The Xuan Nuan Jade Essence is that important; outsiders don't even know it's in the Underground Chamber, only our collateral branches, who keep a constant eye on the Su Family's fortune!"

The others returned to the living room to wait for news; in less than half an hour, Xiao Li came back with his team.

Su Shian and Su Jianlong were escorted by police, and a few of Su Lao's nieces arrived as well.

Su Shian shouted as soon as he entered.

"Grandfather! Officer Shen! What are you doing? On what grounds are you arresting us? We haven't broken any law!"

Su Jianlong also cried out in protest.

"Exactly! We didn't even approach the Su Family Villa today, yet we're suspects? Did someone deliberately frame us?"

Su Xiaonuan, aware that her father and brother were implicated, hurried over as well.

"Sister Xue Yan, what exactly happened?"

She, as always, held Su Xueyan's hand, and Su Xueyan, who indeed liked this cousin, gently soothed her.

"It's nothing serious; just a family matter, and we asked Brother Su Shian and the others to come and inquire about the situation."

In the whole Su Family, aside from Grandfather, she only felt a slight fondness for this cousin.

Facing their flailing, Officer Shen merely sat on the sofa, her tone solemn.

"No one is accusing you of a crime; we're just asking you to cooperate with the investigation. Between nine and eleven this morning, where were you? What were you doing? Is there anyone who can verify?"

Su Shian stuck out his neck, a look of disdain on his face.

"I was having lunch with Zhao Qianrui of the Zhao Family this morning, discussing a partnership; Zhao Qianrui can confirm!"

Su Jianlong quickly added.

"I was playing cards in the game room; everyone there can testify! I was there from eight in the morning until noon, never left!"

Su Ruiqing didn't believe it, giving a cold smile.

"How do we know your witnesses aren't colluding with you? Zhao Qianrui has always been at odds with the Su Family; can we trust his word? And you, Su Jianlong, you gamble daily; the game‑room folks know you well and might lie for you!"

"Grandfather! How can you say that about us?"

Su Shian grew urgent and stepped forward two paces.

"Even if we are still immature, we wouldn't steal anything from home! The mysterious warm jade essence is for Sister Xue Yan to treat Cold Poison, how could we dare touch it?"

"What is it that you don't dare?"

Su Ruiqing's face turned pale with anger.

"Before, you fought for the company's rights, even dared to scheme against Xue Yan; now stealing a few things, what's the big deal? I think you only shed tears when you see a coffin!"

Shen Junyao watched the reactions of the few.

Su Shian, though excited, didn't avoid eye contact; Su Jianlong was a bit panicked, but spoke very specifically, not like a liar.

She turned her head to Jiang Feng, wanting to hear his opinion.

Jiang Feng leaned against the back of the chair, said nothing, just stared at Su Jianlong's hand.

A fresh scratch was on Su Jianlong's finger joints, as if cut by something sharp.

"Su Jianlong, how did the wound on your hand happen?"

Jiang Feng suddenly spoke.

Su Jianlong subconsciously hid his hand behind his body, his eyes a bit panicked.

"N... nothing, I accidentally got scratched by a playing card yesterday."

"Can a card cause such a deep wound?"

Jiang Feng raised an eyebrow.

"It looks like it was scratched by metal, like... a tool used to pry a safe?"

Su Jianlong's face turned white instantly, stammering.

"N... no! I really was scratched by a card! Don't slander me!"

Su Ruiqing, seeing Su Jianlong's reaction, became even more certain it was his doing, pointed at him and cursed, "damned iron that won't become steel!"

"Fine! As expected, it's you! The wound on your hand is from prying the safe! Officer Shen, quickly arrest him for interrogation! Surely you'll get something out!"

"I didn't! I really didn't!"

Su Jianlong was so anxious he was about to cry.

"I drank too much yesterday, fell, and got scratched by a soda can on the ground!"

Jiang Feng heard that and gave a faint smile: "If you detail how it was scratched, the technician can compare and know."

When that was said, Su Jianlong's complexion changed drastically.
