Chapter 634: Am I dreaming!?

~6 min read 1,169 words

Jiang Feng glanced lightly at Lin Yanqian, saying nothing.

His gaze lingered on her face for less than a breath, then returned to Ma Jian.

He could sense the woman's shock and fear, but he didn't care.

The only thing he cared about now was the skinny, deformed fool lying on the hospital bed.

His hand finally fell down.

His palm pressed against Ma Jian's chest, and those golden lights surged from his palm like a warm river, seeping into Ma Jian's body along his skin.

The golden light flowed over Ma Jian's body surface, spreading from his chest outward like ripples on a calm lake, gradually covering his entire frame.

The white sheets on the bed were dyed pale gold by the light, the IV tubes and ECG leads also glowed faintly, and the waveforms on the monitor screens began to jump violently, emitting urgent beeps.

Lin Yanqian stood aside, her whole body frozen as if immobilized, unable to move.

Her eyes widened, pupils contracting sharply as she watched everything unfolding before her.

Who exactly is this man?

She watched Ma Jian's body slowly levitate in the golden light, rising about a foot above the bed, his whole form wrapped in golden radiance like a sculpture enshrined in a halo of light.

The tubes and wires inserted into his body all detached at that moment, and Lin Yanqian's eyes stared fixedly at Ma Jian...

Jiang Feng closed his eyes, his divine sense like a vast net enveloping Ma Jian entirely.

He could clearly sense every minute change within Ma Jian's body.

The force belonging to Dongfang Jue was retreating step by step before his Law Power; the corrosive power lodged in his liver began to dissipate first, like ice meeting fire, melting away silently.

The golden light wandered inside Ma Jian's body like a warm river of light; the meridians corroded for ages by the remnants of the Soul Melting Technique gradually became clear, inch by inch, like a long-blocked riverbed dredged, allowing water to flow freely again.

The bones that had stiffened from prolonged bed rest also regained elasticity under the golden light's embrace; osteoporosis at the joints was slowly being repaired, and the suppressed hematopoietic function deep in the marrow revived.

Ma Jian's body was undergoing earth-shaking changes.

His skin began to regain color, the unhealthy pallor fading bit by bit, replaced by a healthy, ruddy complexion.

His cheeks were no longer sunken; the lost muscle and fat were regrowing at a visible pace, making his gaunt face fill out again.

Lin Yanqian stood aside, watching all this, feeling her worldview crumble inch by inch.

She is a doctor.

She was the top graduate of Imperial Medical University, apprenticed to a National Hand–level elder professor, and in her career she had seen countless difficult cases. She had seen patients on the operating table have their chests opened, witnessed the full process of heart transplants, and seen complex cases that only appear in medical textbooks.

She thought she had seen enough miracles and tragedies, and had sufficient understanding of life's fragility and resilience.

But what she saw before her completely exceeded her comprehension.

No scalpel, no instruments, no medicine.

Only a man stood there, placing his palm on the patient's chest, then emitting light.

That person used light to heal the patient, using light to revive someone whose organ had failed to the brink of death. She watched with her own eyes as Ma Jian's liver turned from grayish black to dark brown, his heart from weak to strong, and his deathly pale face regain the color of life.

She could not understand.

She could not explain it. Her professional training told her it was impossible, but her eyes clearly told her!

This is real!

The intensity of the golden light began to wane slowly, the Law Power flowing through Ma Jian's body finishing the final repairs.

Every inch of meridian, every bone, every strand of flesh corroded by the Cold Dark Force had been thoroughly cleansed; all toxins and residues were removed, leaving only newly born, vibrant tissue.

Jiang Feng withdrew his hand.

The golden light faded from Ma Jian's body bit by bit, like a veil being lifted, revealing the face beneath that had regained its color.

Ma Jian's body slowly settled back onto the bed, the sheets wrinkling slightly under his weight, the detached tubes and instruments scattering beside him in a heap, making a soft clattering sound.

The ward fell silent for a moment.

Then Ma Jian let out a muffled grunt.

His brow twitched slightly, his eyelids fluttering, as if something had pulled him from a deep sleep.

His lips moved, letting out a moan, then his eyes slowly opened.

Those eyes were still dazed, pupils not yet focused, his gaze wandering over the ceiling as if he didn't know where he was or what had happened.

He blinked, blinked again, then slowly and with difficulty turned his neck to look aside.

He saw Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng stood beside the bed, looking down at him, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned, showing a faint smile.

Ma Jian opened his mouth, and a hoarse, dry sound like sandpaper scraping came from his throat.

"Old... boss...?"

When those two words entered Jiang Feng's ears, his eye sockets warmed slightly. He quickly suppressed it, merely nodded, and said:

"Glad you're awake."

Ma Jian's eyes rolled around, taking in the surroundings, then glanced at Lin Yanqian standing motionless on the other side of the bed.

He was somewhat confused about the situation, merely instinctively feeling as if he had slept a very long time.

Jiang Feng offered no further explanation, simply turning his head and waving his hand toward Lin Yanqian.

The gesture was light, as if shooing away a mosquito.

Then Lin Yanqian discovered she could move.

Her body lurched forward a step, almost losing balance, she steadied herself by gripping the bedrail. Her chest heaved violently, her breathing rapid and chaotic, a layer of cold sweat on her forehead chilled by the ward's air conditioning.

She raised her head, looked at Jiang Feng, her lips trembling several times before she could speak.

Her voice was dry and hoarse, trembling on the verge of breaking.

"Who... who exactly are you? How did you manage this?"

Jiang Feng looked at her, gave no answer, and simply said lightly to Ma Jian:

"First rest well; after this, I will teach you cultivation..."

Lin Yanqian was standing there; throughout her body, she felt as if all strength had been drained, and she softly leaned against the edge of the hospital bed.

Her Brain was still frantically turning those scenes just now, those light, those floating, those visible-to-the-naked-eye organ repairs…

She felt like she was going crazy. Or maybe the world had gone crazy. Or maybe both had gone crazy.

On the hospital bed, Ma Jian still had his eyes wide open, staring blankly at the ceiling, he muttered indistinctly from his Mouth.

"Boss……Did I just Dream?"
