Chapter 705: You
The entire Zheng Family mansion seemed as if someone had poured a ladle of cold water into boiling oil.
It exploded.
The guests who had been seated at the banquet each sprang up from their chairs; the wine glasses toppled over unattended, and the chopsticks that fell to the ground were not picked up.
Buzzing murmurs surged in from all directions, blending into a muffled thunderous clamor that completely swallowed the unfinished silk-and-bamboo music in the main hall.
Zheng Yuanshen stood at the front of the high platform, and the smile on his aged face finally could not be held.
He slowly turned around, facing Lin Qinghan.
His lips moved slightly, his Adam's apple rolled up and down, and his voice was pressed down low—so low that only a few people near the high platform could hear.
"Qinghan, what did you just say?"
Lin Qinghan did not answer his question.
She raised her hand, her fingers pinching a corner of the cap, and then slowly, bit by bit, lifted the large red cap off her head.
The cap fell to the ground silently, like a maple leaf blown down by the wind.
Her face was revealed.
All the guests in the hall simultaneously inhaled a breath of cool air at that moment.
Under the lights, Lin Qinghan's expression remained cold, the frost-like chill between her brows and eyes unchanged, yet her eyes burned with two extremely bright, almost scorching lights.
That light had nothing to do with the red lanterns filling the hall, nor with this lavish wedding banquet, nor with any person.
From beginning to end, it concerned only one person.
Her gaze passed over Zheng Yuanshen's shoulders, over Zheng Tong's flushed face, over the hundreds of dark heads filling the hall, and landed directly on the last table on the east side.
It landed on a person.
All the clamor in the hall was at that moment suppressed by something.
Then Lin Qinghan spoke.
Her voice remained soft, but each word was ten times clearer than before.
"In this lifetime, I will only marry one person."
Her gaze, unblinking, fixed on that direction.
"His name is Jiang Feng."
Those four characters fell like a sword, cleaving straight down from the high platform, splitting the hall's red lanterns and silk-and-bamboo orchestra in two.
The guests who had been whispering each opened their mouths wide; some wine glasses slipped from their fingers, rolled twice on the tabletop, and amber liquid spilled across the table.
But no one went to steady the chair.
No one wiped up the wine.
Everyone froze in place, as if nailed by those four characters, unable to move.
Long Bad Dao was the first to come to his senses.
He slammed the table hard and stood up; the bowls and plates on the table clanged chaotically, yet at this moment no one noticed.
He stretched out his hand, pointing at Jiang Feng, his voice so loud it could lift the roof.
"Did you hear! Did you hear!"
He turned, facing the entire hall of guests, as if he had received a heavenly reward, eager to let the whole world know.
"The person she likes is my brother Jiang!"
He finished speaking and burst into a hearty laugh, laughing head over heels, slapping Jiang Feng's shoulder with a palm.
Jiang Feng did not look at him. His gaze pierced the crowd and met Lin Qinghan's gaze in midair.
It was silent for about three breaths.
Then he stood up.
His movements were unhurried; he rose from his chair, straightened his robe, and then walked step by step toward the high platform.
He walked past the stunned guests, past the overturned chairs, and across the scarlet long carpet.
His stride was steady, his back straight, like a sword being slowly drawn from its sheath; with each step forward, an inch of blade was revealed.
Long Bad Dao took two steps behind him, then stopped, crossed his arms and stood in the center of the hall, his face bearing an excited grin that delighted in the spectacle without fearing trouble.
Zheng Yuanshen watched Jiang Feng's direction of approach, his pupils snapping shut sharply.
He stepped forward, blocking Zheng Tong and Lin Qinghan, his voice deepened, carrying an unquestionable authority.
"Jiang Feng, this is the Zheng Family. If you take another step forward, you will be opposing my Zheng Family."
Jiang Feng's steps did not halt.
When he passed Zheng Yuanshen's side, he tilted his head slightly, his gaze meeting his for a moment.
There was no provocation or anger in that gaze, only a calm so faint it was almost imperceptible, as if watching an ant blocking the road.
Zheng Yuanshen's heart jumped sharply; the Half-step Martial Ancestor aura within him instinctively surged at that moment, but before he could react, Jiang Feng had already walked past him.
That step was brushed off lightly, as if passing a roadside utility pole.
Zheng Yuanshen stood in place, a layer of cold sweat seeping from his back. He did not know why he had not acted to block, he only knew one thing.
He dared not.
Jiang Feng walked up to Lin Qinghan.
She looked at him, the two scorching lights in her eye sockets trembling slightly.
Her lips moved, as if to speak, but Jiang Feng spoke first.
"Your cultivation has been sealed?"
His voice was not loud, as if speaking only to her.
Lin Qinghan nodded.
Jiang Feng raised his right hand, his index and middle fingers together, the tips forming an extremely fine white light. He flicked his finger, lightly tapping Lin Qinghan's forehead, both shoulders, and dantian four times.
With each finger point, Lin Qinghan's body trembled slightly, as if an invisible chain were being pried open link by link.
At the instant the fourth finger point ended, the true Qi that had been sealed inside Lin Qinghan for a long time surged like a flood finally breaking a dam, booming as it surged again through her Meridians.
She inhaled deeply, her complexion shifting from pallid to rosy, and the light in her eyes brightened a few points compared to before.
Zheng Tong stood beside her, and from the moment he lifted Lin Qinghan's head covering, his simple smile slowly faded, replaced by an ever‑growing fury that seemed about to seep out from under his skin.
He is a coarse man, his mind doesn't turn quickly, but he's not stupid.
His bride publicly declared at the wedding that she would marry another man, and that man, in his presence, walked onto the High Platform and, in his presence, broke the bride's seal.
If he could still endure this, he wouldn't be Zheng Tong.
"You!"
Zheng Tong stepped forward, and the Green Stone floor tiles beneath his foot cracked open, sending shards of stone scattering in all directions.
His Red Wedding Gown swelled as a surge of violent true Qi pushed it outward, his square face flushed bright red, and his large copper‑bell eyes were filled with blood vessels.
"You're looking for death!"
When he roared those three words, the lights of the entire main hall trembled and flickered.
A mighty Half-step Martial Ancestor aura erupted from him, like a volcano that had stored pressure for too long finally erupting.
