Chapter 9: Jiang Feng Is Doomed
After Zhao Xiong slammed the door and left, the atmosphere in the Banquet Hall relaxed considerably.
Li Kun rubbed his hands, smiling broadly as he approached Mr. Jiang: "Mr. Jiang, you just said… three silver needles can cure my back? Is it convenient now? My back really can't take it any longer."
Jiang Feng gave him a glance, then pulled a palm-sized wooden box from the old cloth sack on his back.
Opening it, he saw several bright, sparkling silver needles neatly arranged inside.
"Find a chair and sit down, then lift up the clothing on your left side."
Jiang Feng handed out the silver needles while giving the instructions.
Li Kun quickly pulled a chair, sat down, and swiftly rolled up his shirt, revealing a bluish‑purple mark on his left waist.
Li Ao, standing nearby, also leaned over, wanting to see exactly how Jiang Feng used the three needles to treat the ailment.
Jiang Feng pinched a silver needle, gave it a gentle twist with his finger, and the needle steadied on his fingertip before being thrust into Li Kun's waist.
Li Kun let out a hiss, then his eyes brightened: "Huh? It doesn't hurt? It actually feels a bit warm?"
Jiang Feng said nothing, then produced two more silver needles, inserting them into two other acupoints, his fingers gently turning the needle tails.
In less than half a minute, Li Kun suddenly stood, paced two steps in place, then twisted his waist: "It really doesn't hurt! Earlier it felt like I was carrying a stone on my back, now I'm light enough to jump! Mr. Jiang, your medical skill is truly divine!"
The people around stared dumbfounded, each unable to suppress their amazed clicks of admiration.
"Now that's what true skill is! Far better than the experts at those big hospitals!"
"If my family's elders had this ailment, it would be great if they could have Mr. Jiang take a look!"
Li Kun grinned ear to ear, gripping Jiang Feng's hand and thanking profusely: "Mr. Jiang, your great kindness needs no thanks! If you ever need anything, our Li Family will spare no words!"
Wang Haitao stepped forward at that moment: "How about this, Ah Kun, shall we all invite Mr. Jiang to have a proper drink together?"
"That sounds good, but…"
Li Kun glanced at his watch: "Oops, I still have an important meeting to attend, I must leave now! Mr. Jiang, I'll visit you another day!"
Saying that, he grabbed the still‑dazed Li Ao and hurried outward.
The two got into the car, and Li Ao only then recovered his senses, unable to help but ask.
"Brother, Jiang Feng's medical skill is so impressive; why didn't we chat with him longer earlier? Doesn't our Li Family have over a dozen Traditional Chinese Medicine halls? If we could invite Jiang Feng to be a consultant, our Li Family would surely reach a higher level!"
Li Kun leaned against the chair back, his smile gradually fading, and let out a cold laugh.
"Heh, how long do you think Jiang Feng can still live?"
Li Ao was stunned: "Brother, what do you mean? Jiang Feng just saved Old Wang, and has connections with the Su Family and Wang Family; who could harm him?"
Li Kun gave him a glance, his eyes dark and gloomy.
"Did you think today's alliance of the Three Great Families targeting the Su Family was just our three families' doing? There's someone else watching from behind! Jiang Feng ruined their plan; do you think he'll be fine? The old fool in the Wang Family is senile, which is why he dared to get so close to Jiang Feng. We can't wade into this murky water."
Li Ao's heart lurched: "Behind… who is behind?"
"Don't ask what shouldn't be asked."
Li Kun waved his hand: "In short, Jiang Feng won't live long; we don't need to offend the people behind for a man who's about to die."
Li Ao listened and dared not ask further.
The two brothers quickly got into the luxury car and sped away.
On the other side, Wang Haitao led Jiang Feng, Su Ruiqing, and Su Xueyan.
They went to a luxurious private room on the hotel's upper floor and specially ordered a table of exotic delicacies.
After three rounds of wine, Wang Haitao set his glass down, his expression suddenly turning serious; without avoiding anyone, he spoke directly to Jiang Feng.
"Mr. Jiang, there's something I need to tell you straight from the heart. Today, you helped me; my Wang Family remembers your favor, but getting too close to the Su Family isn't a good thing."
Jiang Feng lifted his head: "Old Wang, what do you mean by that?"
Su Lao and Su Xueyan also lifted their heads to look at Wang Haitao.
"The water here is too deep; I can only say…"
Wang Haitao sighed, his voice lowering a bit.
"There's someone behind Zhao Xiong; today they targeted the Su Family not just for the Chamber of Commerce President's position. You thwarted their plans, and they certainly won't let you off. I advise you, if possible, to sever ties with the Su Family to avoid setting yourself on fire."
Su Ruiqing and Su Xueyan listened, their faces turning a bit pale.
Su Ruiqing was about to say something when Wang Haitao continued: "Old Su, don't be too pleased; this is for Mr. Jiang's benefit…"
He paused, then smiled again, speaking in an extremely lewd tone.
"If Mr. Jiang is willing, our Wang Family also welcomes you. My granddaughter Wang Yunan is beautiful and of good character, not inferior to Xue Yan. If you're willing, I'll have Yunan accompany you everywhere?"
Su Xueyan's chopsticks paused at the words, and she quietly glanced at Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng, however, smiled and shook his head, lifted his teacup and took a sip.
"Thank you, Old Wang, for the kindness, but I still have an appointment with Miss Su to treat her illness, and I'm not interested in these matters. As for cutting ties with the Su Family, since I promised to help Miss Su cure the Cold Poison, I won't abandon it halfway."
Wang Haitao, seeing his resolute attitude, stopped urging further and simply sighed.
"Fine, Mr. Jiang is a man of deep loyalty, I won't stand in your way. If you encounter trouble later, feel free to call on my Wang Family; I'll definitely help wherever I can."
After the banquet ended, Su Ruiqing drove personally, taking Jiang Feng and Su Xueyan back to the Su Family.
The car left the hotel, heading toward the Su Family Villa in the suburbs, and the traffic on the road gradually thinned.
But at that moment, Jiang Feng suddenly frowned, and the body that had been leaning against the rear seat back sat up straight.
"Su Lao, stop the car! Something's wrong!"
Su Ruiqing was startled for a moment, just about to ask what was happening, when a huge bang rang out and the car lurched violently to the left.
The sound of the tires grinding the ground emitted an unbearably screeching noise.
Su Ruiqing quickly pressed the brakes, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, and the car barely came to a stop.
Su Xueyan turned pale with fear, clinging to the front seat, her voice trembling slightly.
"Wh—what's happening? A burst tire?"
Su Ruiqing also panicked, hurried out of the car to inspect.
The left rear wheel indeed blew out, and a long iron nail was still lodged in the tire, clearly someone deliberately put it on the road!
"Someone did it on purpose!"
Su Ruiqing's complexion turned ashen.
"There's usually not even a stone on this Path, how could there be an iron nail? It must have been done by Zhao Xiong's men!"
Jiang Feng also got out of the car, his eyes sweeping over the surrounding environment.
Here, both sides are dense forests, pitch black, with no streetlamp at all, only the car's high beams lighting the road ahead.
"It's more than just a flat tire."
Jiang Feng's voice was a bit cold: "Listen carefully…"
Su Ruiqing and Su Xueyan listened carefully and heard rustling Footstep sounds coming from the forest, as if someone were approaching slowly.
Jiang Feng's eyes sharply fixed on the dark part of the forest, and he spoke coldly.
"Stop hiding, come out. Since you dared to set a trap, why not dare to show yourselves?"
As soon as the words ended, a dozen dark silhouettes emerged from the forest.
