Chapter 99: Spring Light Spills Forth

~7 min read 1,355 words

Shen Junyao, hearing Jiang Feng's question, instinctively lowered her voice.

"To be honest, all I know is that he's from Jingcheng, and the higher-ups specifically instructed our Jiangcheng City Defense Office to fully cooperate with his work."

She then sized up Jiang Feng and spoke with a hint of wariness.

"You haven't offended him, have you? I'd advise you to avoid getting into conflict with him. If something really happens, I'm afraid I won't be able to help you."

She was well aware that Jiang Feng's talent for stirring up trouble was no less than his medical skill.

But Lei Zhen was from Jingcheng after all, and she didn't want to see Jiang Feng suffer a loss.

Hearing this, Jiang Feng was caught between laughter and tears.

"Don't worry, I'm not the type to cause trouble. Thanks for the reminder."

"You're not the type to cause trouble..."

Shen Junyao couldn't help but purse her lips at Jiang Feng's words, then waved her hand.

"Alright, alright, I need to get back to work. I won't chat with you all anymore."

With that, Shen Junyao waved her hand and turned to leave.

After Shen Junyao left, Hua Yingying tugged on Jiang Feng's arm and said in a low voice.

"Brother Jiang Feng, let's really not provoke that Lei Zhen anymore. He's so scary."

Jiang Feng patted her hand and smiled reassuringly.

"Don't worry, I won't go looking for trouble, but I won't let anyone bully us either. Come on, let's head back to Ji Shi Tang."

Half an hour later, the two returned to Ji Shi Tang.

As soon as they pushed open the glass door, Hua Jing, who was organizing medicinal herbs behind the counter, looked up.

Seeing the five large cloth bundles in Jiang Feng's hands, his eyes went wide instantly.

"Jiang Feng, what kind of herbs did you buy? Why so much?"

Jiang Feng placed the cloth bundles on the counter, untied one opening, and revealed the century-old wild mountain ginseng and other herbs inside.

Hua Jing leaned in, picked up the ginseng to examine it closely, then pinched the blood sap beside it, and his expression changed instantly.

"This... this is century-old wild mountain ginseng, right? And this blood sap, from the look of it, it's top-grade! You bought so much—that must have cost a pretty penny, right?"

Jiang Feng gave a light, casual smile.

"Not much, just a million."

"O-one million?"

Hua Jing's eyes bulged as he pointed at the herbs covering the table.

"Are you crazy? A million for these herbs? What kind of medicine are you refining that needs such expensive ingredients?"

Hua Yingying, however, laughed and said.

"Grandpa, these herbs are no ordinary thing. Just now, someone offered a hundred million to buy these herbs and the prescription, and Brother Jiang Feng didn't sell!"

"A hundred million?"

Hua Jing felt like he didn't understand this world anymore.

"Someone offered a hundred million? Jiang Feng, what kind of treasure is this prescription of yours?"

Jiang Feng smiled and didn't explain much.

"By the way, Hua Lao, is there any empty room nearby? I need a quiet environment for refining medicine."

Hua Jing thought for a moment, then frowned and shook his head.

"This place is only so big—the front is the clinic, the back is where we live. There's no empty space."

He paced a couple of steps, then his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Oh! You can go ask Qian Xue! She has a villa in Chengxi—it'd be perfect for refining medicine!"

Jiang Feng was taken aback, a hint of hesitation in his mind.

"Wouldn't that be too much trouble for her?"

"What trouble!"

Hua Jing waved his hand.

"She's always wanted to repay you for saving her life. If you ask her for help, she'll be more than happy!"

"Give her a call and ask right away. I want to see what good stuff you can refine with a million worth of herbs."

Jiang Feng thought it over and then called Nie Qianxue.

The phone rang twice before it was picked up, and Nie Qianxue's voice carried a hint of surprised delight.

"Mr. Jiang? Why the sudden call?"

"Miss Nie, there's something I'd like to ask of you."

Jiang Feng got straight to the point.

"I need to refine some medicine recently and require an empty, well-ventilated space. I was wondering if you could lend me a place?"

"Of course!"

Nie Qianxue agreed almost without hesitation, her tone filled with obvious joy.

"Just use my villa. I'll have Nie Ying come pick you up now."

"Thank you so much."

Jiang Feng thanked her and hung up.

Hua Jing beside him smiled knowingly.

"I told you, that girl Qian Xue would definitely be willing! Hurry up and pack up. When Nie Ying arrives, you can head over."

Within fifteen minutes, a car horn sounded from the Ji Shi Tang Gate, and a black Mercedes-Benz SUV pulled up at the entrance.

Nie Ying poked her head out and waved at Jiang Feng.

"Divine Doctor Jiang, get in the car! The miss is waiting for you in the villa!"

Jiang Feng lifted the Medicine, said farewell to Hua Jing and Hua Yingying, then sat into the co‑pilot seat.

After more than twenty minutes, the car entered Chengxi's upscale villa district and stopped in front of a three‑story European‑style villa.

Nie Ying parked the car and squeezed her eyes at Jiang Feng.

"Brother Jiang Feng, the miss is waiting for you in the second‑floor study; you can go up directly, I'll help you move the Medicine Inside."

Jiang Feng nodded and walked into the villa.

Inside the villa, the decor was simple and grand; beside the floor‑to‑ceiling Window in the living room stood a white piano, and the air was filled with a faint scent of aromatherapy.

It seemed that Nie Qianxue probably lives Here permanently.

Jiang Feng roughly surveyed, and according to Nie Ying's words, he went up the spiral staircase to the second floor; at the end of the Corridor was the study.

He just reached the study doorway, when he heard water sounds Inside.

He froze for a moment, thinking he had taken the wrong way, and was about to turn back, when the study door was suddenly pulled open from Inside.

Nie Qianxue wore a white bathrobe, her hair still dripping with water; droplets at the ends fell onto the robe's collar, spreading a small wet stain and revealing her delicate clavicle.

She clearly hadn't expected anyone at the doorway; the smile on her face froze instantly, her eyes widened round, the Wool towel in her hand fell to the Ground, and her cheek flushed red like a ripe apple.

Jiang Feng also froze, his gaze unconsciously sweeping over her wet hair and the curves beneath the bathrobe.

In that instant, he only felt a vast expanse of snow‑white flickering before his eyes.

He quickly averted his gaze and turned away awkwardly.

Such a fragrant and dazzling scene could make the hot‑blooded him unable to bear it.

"I'm sorry! I went to the wrong Place! I thought you were in the study…"

"No, it's fine!"

Nie Qianxue was also very nervous; Panic‑ly she picked up the Wool towel from the Ground, held it against her chest, and her voice was as thin as a mosquito's hum.

"I just finished bathing, I'm heading to the study to get something… you, you go down and wait for me, I'll be ready right away!"

"Alright, alright!"

Jiang Feng quickly replied, almost as if fleeing, and went down the stairs, his heart still pounding.

That scene just now was truly too awkward.

On the second‑floor Corridor, Nie Qianxue leaned against the wall, hand covering her burning cheek, her heart racing.

She had just heard Footsteps and thought it was Nie Ying, but it turned out to be Jiang Feng!

He actually saw her just‑finished‑bathing look…

She took several deep breaths, quickly grabbed a hair dryer to blow her hair, feeling both ashamed and annoyed, yet there was a faint, barely noticeable hint of anticipation.

Divine Doctor Jiang just now, seemed to have blushed?
