Chapter 195: Demonic Siblings
"How dare you! Who gave you permission to be rude to my guest!" Kelinda shouted sternly, her tone full of authority.
Mo Yi's originally contemptuous gaze flashed with a hint of surprise, but it was quickly covered by a flippant smile. "Sister, why bother with these inferior beings, they…"
Kelinda ignored Mo Yi, stepped forward, and a complex emotion flickered in her crimson eyes, as if weighing something. Finally, she inhaled deeply, bowed slightly toward the void behind Zhang Cheng, and said, "Honored strong one, please forgive my brother's rudeness; we have offended."
The ever‑silent Mo Yi, seeing his sister's action, froze for a moment, then reluctantly followed with a bow.
In the void, Xiao Dian's figure gradually solidified; he wore a blue robe, his face thin and pale, yet exuded an unruffled authority. "I can see you did not intend to offend," he said calmly, his voice flowing like a clear spring. "In that case, I will decide: you may stay here for now."
"Thank you, senior!" Kelinda's face showed gratitude, and she bowed deeply once more.
Yet before Kelinda could ask further, Xiao Dian's figure vanished like foam, leaving only a sentence echoing in the air, "Remember, do not stir up trouble."
Kelinda stared toward the direction of Xiao Dian's disappearance, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes before she quickly suppressed it. She turned, her gaze landing on Mo Yi; in his crimson pupils the former gentleness had vanished, replaced by endless cold. "You'd better give me a reasonable explanation—where have you been all these years!"
Mo Yi awkwardly averted Kelinda's gaze, opened his mouth, but was cut off by her, "Stop using those lies to placate me! Black Meteor Star has already been destroyed; didn't you know?!"
"What?! Black Meteor Star was destroyed?!" Mo Yi stared in disbelief, his eyes wide as if hearing something unimaginable, "Who did it?"
Mo Yi's voice turned sharp from shock, and Kelinda stared coldly at him, "What exactly happened during the years you were away? How could you be completely unaware of something as huge as Black Meteor Star's destruction?!"
Mo Yi fell silent for a moment, his gaze drifting as if lost in memory, "I… I originally set out with the clan's interstellar squad to explore new mineral veins…"
"And then?" Kelinda pressed on step by step.
"We were attacked by a cosmic pirate gang…" Mo Yi's voice lowered, tinged with pain and anger, "They possessed weapons and warships far more advanced than ours; we were helpless. The interstellar squad's warship was destroyed, and most of our clan were… were brutally slaughtered…"
Kelinda's breathing grew rapid, a blaze of fury in her crimson eyes; she clenched her fists, her knuckles whitening from the strain.
"We fought back with all our might, but it was futile…" Mo Yi continued, "Just when I thought I would also die at the hands of those star pirates, a mysterious arbiter appeared. He saved me and took me to a place called the Epoch Treasury."
"Epoch Treasury?" Kelinda frowned; she had never heard of that place.
"It is a space independent of any star system, housing countless precious treasures and knowledge," Mo Yi explained. "I was chosen by that arbiter to become the guardian of Gate No. 0, responsible for guarding the Treasury's entrance."
"So you just abandoned your clan and hid in that so‑called Treasury?!" Kelinda's tone was filled with disappointment and anger.
"I didn't!" Mo Yi retorted passionately, "I've always wanted to return, to avenge the clan, but the arbiter told me my power is still insufficient; only by constantly growing stronger can I protect those I wish to protect!"
He paused, then said, "Later, I sensed your aura on Lan Xing, so I left the Epoch Treasury to seek you. As for that human named Zhang Cheng…"
Mo Yi looked at Zhang Cheng, a complex expression flashing in his eyes, "I sensed a familiar aura from him—the aura of Gate No. 0! That's why I…"
Kelinda ignored Mo Yi's explanation about Zhang Cheng; she was already inflamed by the cosmic pirate gang's atrocities, "Those damned star pirates! I will make them pay!"
"Sister…" Mo Yi began, then stopped; he knew that, given Kelinda's temperament, she would never stand idly by, but he was more concerned for Kelinda's safety, "You've been away from Black Meteor Star too long, the clan…"
"Black Meteor Star is already gone." Kelinda cut off Mo Yi, her tone terrifyingly calm.
"What?!" Mo Yi was shocked again, "How could this be? Who did it?!"
Kelinda inhaled deeply, a deep hatred flashing in her crimson eyes, "It was the Blood Night Demon Family; they betrayed the demon star system, colluded with external enemies, and destroyed Black Meteor Star…"
"Black Meteor Star is already gone." Kelinda cut off Mo Yi again, her tone terrifyingly calm, yet her crimson eyes seemed to blaze with raging fire.
"What?!" Mo Yi, as if struck by lightning, stepped back in disbelief, his towering frame wobbling, "How could this happen? Who did it?!" Black Meteor Star was the demon clan's home, their cradle, how could it just vanish?!
Kelinda inhaled deeply, struggling to suppress the surge of emotion within, a deep hatred flashing in her crimson eyes, "It was the Blood Night Demon Family; they betrayed the demon star system, colluded with external foes, and destroyed Black Meteor Star…"
At this point, Kelinda suddenly halted, unable to continue. The truth was too cruel; she could not bear to speak it aloud, nor did she wish to burden Mo Yi with such heavy hatred.
"What did they do?!" Mo Yi asked urgently, a foreboding feeling rising in his heart.
Kelinda was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "You've been away from Black Meteor Star too long; there are many things you don't understand. Over the years, the Blood Night Demon Family's strength has continuously expanded, and their ambition has grown…"
"You mean…" Mo Yi seemed to understand something, his complexion turning even sicker.
Kelinda nodded, "They colluded with pirates from another star system, launched a sudden attack on Black Meteor Star. Most of the clan were caught off guard, brutally massacred…" Her voice trembled slightly, as if returning to that bloody night, witnessing the clan's cruel slaughter.
"Impossible!" Mo Yi roared, unable to accept this brutal reality, "Why would the Blood Night family do this?! They are also members of the demon clan; why betray their own home and slaughter their own kin?!"
"For profit, for power, they'll do anything!" Kelinda's eyes brimmed with resentment, "They blocked all information about Black Meteor Star, publicly claiming it was destroyed by an interstellar storm…"
"Did they think this would cover up their crimes?!" Mo Yi gritted his teeth, fists clenched, knuckles whitening, his heart engulfed by raging fury and hatred.
Kelinda patted Mo Yi's shoulder, her tone tinged with bitterness, "I know you're angry now, but you must stay calm. The Blood Night Demon Family is powerful; we are still no match for them…"
"Are we just going to let them roam free, without avenging our clan?!" Mo Yi asked, eyes reddened, unwillingly.
Kelinda shook her head, her gaze steadfast, "Of course not! Blood debt must be repaid in blood! I came to Lan Xing this time to…"
Her words were cut off before she could finish, interrupted by a sudden surge of energy.
