Chapter 303

~6 min read 1,177 words

The "click" sound of the spaceship engine was particularly harsh in the silent starry sky, like a time bomb hanging over everyone's heads.

"Uh... Boss, is this thing going to explode?" The Interstellar Knight swallowed, pointing at the red light flickering on the energy indicator; the frequency was extremely like the lights at a disco, only this time, they weren't dancing, it was their lives.

"Energy reserves are below 20% and still falling..." The Nebula Sage pushed up his glasses, his tone grave, "Surrounded by a barren star region, there's no energy replenishment point at all; are we... starting in hell mode?"

Zhang Cheng's brows locked in a frown, and he slapped the console hard.

"Try restarting the energy system first!" The spaceship vibrated violently, but the indicator light still flickered, and energy reserves were still slowly falling.

"Restart failed! This broken thing is harder to serve than my grandma's sewing machine!" The Interstellar Knight couldn't help but complain.

The Light Messenger comforted from the side: "Don't panic, the boat will naturally straighten when it reaches the bridge; there will always be a way."

Just then, a small bright spot appeared on the interstellar radar.

"Movement! It's a merchant ship!" The Interstellar Knight's eyes lit up, as if he had seen a savior.

"Boss, how about..." He made a throat-slitting gesture, the meaning self-evident.

"Rob?" The Nebula Sage jumped up immediately, "How can that be! We are Guardians; how can we commit such robbery!" "It's life or death now, what morality are you talking about!" The Interstellar Knight retorted, "Besides, which of those profiteers isn't fat with oil? What's wrong with robbing them a little!"

The two argued endlessly, and Zhang Cheng rubbed his temples, feeling his head was about to explode.

Just escaped the labyrinth, encountered an energy crisis, and now the teammates were infighting; this start was even worse than a ten-pull of all R cards.

"Shut up!" Zhang Cheng roared in a low voice, interrupting their argument.

He walked to the porthole, his gaze falling on the merchant ship gradually approaching in the distance, a complex light flashing in his eyes.

"I'll go talk to them." Zhang Cheng straightened his slightly wrinkled uniform, took a deep breath, and stepped out of the cabin door.

The other party's merchant ship was more than a circle larger than their spaceship, like a space giant whale, with the words "Blue Star Trade" printed on the pitch-black hull, radiating the aura of a nouveau riche.

The merchant who received them was a short, fat middle-aged man, his oily face piled with a hypocritical smile, looking just like a fox that had stolen a chicken.

Zhang Cheng explained their predicament straight to the point, and before he could finish, the merchant smiled "hehe," his eyes full of shrewd, calculating light.

"Short on energy? Easy, easy, I don't have much else here, but I have plenty of energy. However..." He rubbed his hands, his greedy gaze sweeping back and forth over Zhang Cheng's group, "As for the price..."

The exchange conditions proposed by the Blue Star merchant could simply be described as "insane."

He not only wanted all their gains from this labyrinth adventure but also wanted them to sign a "servitude contract," promising that all future adventure gains would be sold to him at a low price first.

"You're taking advantage of our fire!" The Interstellar Knight was furious, his fists clenching and cracking.

"You can't say it like that, little brother," the Blue Star merchant smiled without warmth, "I'm helping you, understand? In this wilderness, besides me, who else would save you?"

Just then, an alarm sounded abruptly, the harsh whistle piercing the tranquility of the starry sky.

On the radar screen, dense light spots emerged like locusts.

"Interstellar Pirate Black Shark!" The Nebula Sage exclaimed, "How could he be here!" Before everyone could react, artillery fire poured down, the explosion's fire illuminating the starry sky a bright red.

The Blue Star merchant's ship bore the brunt, shaken to the point of collapse by several energy cannon shots.

"Damn! Is this Black Shark crazy? Even hitting me!" The Blue Star merchant roared in frustration.

"It seems we have to join forces temporarily." Zhang Cheng's expression was grave, but a cold light flashed in his eyes that was hard to detect.

"Boss, I'll go take out that mad dog first!" The Interstellar Knight grinned...

The Interstellar Knight darted to the weapon console and operated it skillfully.

"Brothers, let these space rats taste Grandpa's power!" He grinned, his fingers dancing on the control panel, the spaceship's energy cannons emitting a deafening roar, dazzling beams of light tearing through the starry sky, heading straight for Black Shark's fleet.

"Damn, this kid's marksmanship is good!" Even the Blue Star merchant, hiding in the corner and shivering, couldn't help but praise.

However, good times didn't last long; the number of pirates was simply too large, buzzing over like flies smelling blood.

Even if the Interstellar Knight had three heads and six arms, it would be hard to handle.

"Boss, can't hold on, these dog things are playing human-sea tactics!" He wiped the sweat from his forehead and shouted through gritted teeth.

Seeing this, Black Shark laughed triumphantly.

"Just relying on you stinky fish and rotten shrimp, you want to fight me? Dream on!" He gave an order, and a small pirate ship detached from the fleet, rushing toward Zhang Cheng's spaceship like an arrow from a bow, clearly intending to board and fight hand-to-hand.

"Don't panic!" The Nebula Sage remained calm in the face of danger, activating a special interference device on the spaceship.

A strange fluctuation spread out, and the attack rhythm of the pirate fleet was instantly disrupted, like a group of drunkards, swaying and colliding with each other.

"Haha, calling you arrogant!" The Nebula Sage pushed up his glasses triumphantly.

Unfortunately, the pirates weren't vegetarians either, and they adjusted quickly; the attacks became more fierce, and the spaceship's energy shield began to flicker, emitting a creaking sound of being unable to bear the burden.

Inside the spaceship, the Light Messenger was busy performing emergency treatment for the injured crew.

She skillfully operated the medical equipment while softly comforting the wounded.

"It's okay, everything will get better..." Her eyes were full of worry, but she still tried hard to remain calm, bringing a glimmer of hope to everyone.

Just when everyone was about to despair, Zhang Cheng's eyes suddenly lit up.

"Knight, do you see that red pirate ship? Their defense system has a loophole; focus fire on that spot!"

Hearing this, the Interstellar Knight immediately turned the cannon, focusing all energy on that red pirate ship.

A blinding beam of light tore through the starry sky, hitting the target precisely.

Boom!

With a loud noise, the red pirate ship exploded instantly, turning into a dazzling fireball.

The shockwave of the explosion caused a brief pause in the pirates' attacks; Zhang Cheng seized this opportunity and said to the Blue Star merchant: "Mr. Merchant, it seems we need a closer 'cooperation'..."
