Chapter 102

~7 min read 1,399 words

"You still have feelings for me, right?" Gu Yunci directly grabbed her hand, "Don't push me away anymore, okay?"

His eyes surged with dark waves she couldn't understand—longing, regret, and possessive desire repressed to the extreme.

"Today, I saw you sitting beside Lu Shenyang, handing him food and smiling at him," the man's voice hoarse, low and heavy, striking her heart.

He slightly leaned forward, forehead against hers, "Shutang, let's get back together, okay? I was wrong before, I want to atone to you."

These four years, I have never forgotten you; actually, you know, long ago……

Before he finished speaking, Meng Shutang impatiently interrupted, "President Gu, we've already broken up."

I can understand how you feel right now, but we should both look forward, shouldn't we?

Saying that, she broke free from his hand.

The next second, a large hand gripped the back of her neck and, without giving her a chance, leaned down to kiss her.

This time, it wasn't the uncontrolled collision of before; instead, it was hot, heavy, slow, carrying an almost reverent plunder.

The kiss was both light and heavy, grinding over her breath inch by inch.

Meng Shutang's body stiffened; she wanted to dodge, but her whole body was held tightly by him.

He kissed her slowly, utterly earnest, carrying the possessive desire of having regained what was lost; his breath filled the space between their lips and teeth.

"Yilin is here."

The hand propped against his warm chest pushed away; in panic, she blurted out.

The man got up from her, glanced at the little nephew on the bed, seized her wrist and pulled her outside.

Reaching the hallway, he slammed the door shut and pressed her against the wall.

"Gu Yunci, I'm telling you to stop……"

The rest of her words were drowned in the kiss; Meng Shutang wanted to bite him, to make his handsome thin lips bleed.

Though they had been intimate for four years, the man knew her body well; every dodge of hers had long been seen through by him.

He anticipated all her anticipations.

He forcefully gripped the back of her neck, lifting her chin to accept his scorching desire.

Meng Shutang punched him, but he paid no heed.

Restraint collapsed at this moment, leaving only one thought: today, this moment, he would kiss back all the kisses he had lost over the past four years.

The scorching frenzy he had repressed for four years surged forth; Meng Shutang soon trembled all over, barely able to breathe.

She clenched her fists in Gu Yunci's collar, pounding him.

The man barely loosened his grip, forehead against hers.

"Let's get back together, okay?"

Meng Shutang looked at him, her eyes devoid of much lust, raised her hand and slapped him.

"Back then you didn't even consult me before cutting off my mother's medical fees—do you know she almost died in the hospital?"

Upon hearing the words "cut off medical fees," Gu Yunci's face instantly turned ashen, his Adam's apple rolled violently, and his eyes flooded with anguish so extreme it ached.

"I didn't, I never gave such an order; I swear on my life.

I never issued any command to stop your mother's treatment."

His voice hoarse to the point of breaking, he clung tightly to her, yet his eyes were full of the panic of wanting to hold her but fearing to frighten her.

After a pause, he said, "But I will definitely give you an explanation for this."

Meng Shutang pushed him, but he still held her tight.

Meng Shutang stopped pushing, but she gazed coldly at the ground, her clear eyes unmoved by the recent fierce kiss.

Gu Yunci tilted his head slightly, his thin lips lightly touching her earlobe, "I'm going to take a shower; can you make me a bowl of noodles?"

Meng Shutang coldly, "No."

"I haven't eaten all day; this morning, to see you sooner, I was so happy I couldn't bear to eat.

At noon I wanted to eat more, but your childhood friend came again, annoying me so much I couldn't even sip water."

Meng Shutang turned her head slightly, looking at him; the Gu Yunci who could speak sweetly and act coquettish was still a first-time sight for her.

"You don't even know I didn't eat at noon, do you? Your eyes only have Lu Shenyang; you won't spare a glimmer for me."

Saying that, he lightly pecked her lips.

Meng Shutang pushed him away; he didn't fuss further, "Yilin fell ill at noon, and I didn't eat either."

Yet just now he seemed ready to tear her apart and devour her—hardly the look of someone who hasn't eaten all day.

"I'm going to cool down, really; help me make a bowl of noodles."

Saying that, he turned and entered the adjacent bathroom.

Meng Shutang stood there a while longer, then turned into the room to glance at Song Yilin; the child slept well, temperature normal.

After picking up the small clothes on the bed to wash, she then went to the kitchen to cook.

Anyway, Gu Yunci usually takes at least twenty minutes for a cold shower.

But just as she reached the kitchen, the man stood behind her; she felt a chill, "You finished washing so quickly?"

Saying that, she turned to greet him.

A white bathrobe hung loosely on him, the collar slightly open, revealing his hard, cold collarbones.

Water droplets slid down his chest muscles, every inch exuding a pressure of total control.

Yet his gaze was gentle enough to drown someone, and the smile at the corner of his mouth was faint yet sweet, noble and tender.

After just one glance, Meng Shutang turned her gaze away.

Remembering Gu Yunci's taste, she made him his favorite clear soup noodles.

Gu Yunci watched her busy figure in the kitchen, very much wanting to, as before, hug her from behind.

But recalling that slap, the hand he had extended slowly retracted.

Soon, the meal was ready.

Gu Yunci saw it and said, "Careful, it's hot—I'll get it."

He carried the meal to the dining room, and Meng Shutang followed close behind, holding her chopsticks and soup.

He thought she would set things down and leave, but she instead sat opposite him and quietly watched him eat.

The man felt somewhat startled by the favor.

You have to know that four years ago, this scene would have been completely ordinary.

But now, it's something he could never even dream of.

He was quite clear that she hadn't sat down for no reason—she had something to say to him.

The meal was over, and this brief warmth ended as well.

So, he allowed himself a little indulgence, eating at a leisurely pace.

But what is destined to come will never be absent.

Twenty minutes later, he set down his chopsticks and said, "I've finished eating."

He ate it clean, not even leaving any soup.

Meng Shutang looked at him and said, "President Gu, I don't blame you for just now, but please don't do that again."

We have already broken up; I don't want us to have too many entanglements.

The man looked at her, his eyes full of endless tenderness, and said, "I've remembered; from now on, without your consent, I won't... kiss you again."

He neither insisted nor argued, which rather surprised her.

His compliance made her feel a tightness in her chest.

She rose to clear up, and the man also rose, his distinctively jointed hand taking the bowl and covering hers.

Both of them were slightly startled.

Meng Shutang slowly withdrew, and the man apologized, "Sorry."

Meng Shutang didn't utter a sound, went straight upstairs. She spent the night at Qian Shui Wan, and that night she checked Song Yilin's temperature every two hours.

In between, he had two fevers, both high, and she gave him ibuprofen twice.

After dawn, he had another fever, but it was only slightly above 37°.

Based on experience, it shouldn't spike into a high fever again.

She looked at the fish-belly white at the window, set an alarm, and intended to nap a bit.

At some point, the man slipped in quietly, stood there, and silently watched the thin figure guarding beside the bed.

He slowly reached out, his knuckles about to touch the stray hair falling over his forehead, but then he abruptly halted in midair.
