Chapter 177: Entangled by Someone Important
Gu Yunci washed Meng Shutang clean and carried her back to the master bedroom; she was so exhausted that she fell asleep as soon as she hit the pillow.
Gu Yunci called her twice, she didn't wake, so he stopped teasing her.
He got up, drew the curtains, changed into a suit, and walked straight out.
When he arrived at Gu Shi Da Sha, a group of senior executives had already been waiting in the conference room for four hours without any notice.
They truly waited from the sky full of evening glow until the dead of night, but Gu Yunci's phone was unreachable, and no one dared to leave.
The Gu Clan senior executives all shared a shadow, which was a line Gu Yunci had once said: "Anyone who doesn't want to do it can get lost; there are plenty who want to do it."
But after waiting so long, everyone couldn't help but be full of complaints.
"What's up with President Gu today? Didn't he repeatedly stress not being late to meetings? Why is he suddenly delayed this long?"
"It seems this system was made just for us."
"Even if something huge happens, at least say something. So many CEOs have been sitting for four hours, can't find anyone, phones go unanswered—does that look decent when it spreads?"
"He's usually the harshest critic of others; I can't go on, everyone, I'm really stuck, I have to withdraw first."
A tall, slender figure pushed the door open, and the once noisy conference room fell silent instantly.
The man held a document, his custom‑tailored suit accentuating broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his aura as sharp as a cold blade.
The seated figures, all pivotal within the Gu Clan, were momentarily speechless, even their breathing softened, and when their eyes fell on him they involuntarily held a hint of reverence.
He walked in slowly, said nothing, yet exuded a commanding pressure that made everyone realize he was the sole ruler of the room.
As he took his seat, the conference room's temperature seemed to drop a few degrees.
Everyone fell silent as if chilled, fearing whether he might settle scores later; after all, they had indeed grown impatient, and at this hour they thought he wouldn't come, so the murmurs grew a bit louder.
Yet, contrary to expectations, the man, usually foul‑tempered, was unusually approachable today; not only did he not get angry, he calmly explained, "I was tangled with someone important, lost track of time, sorry."
The crowd thought the sun had risen in the west, eyes full of suspicion, finally all turned together to look at the man.
The man sat with an aristocratic, languid posture, exuding an unassailable pressure, "Shall we begin!" His voice was low, tinged with a hint of amusement.
The CEOs present dared not relax, instinctively straightening their backs, maintaining their usual caution when reporting.
At three A. M., after the meeting ended, Gu Yunci walked back to Chengxi Bieshu against the heavy night darkness.
The bedroom was dim, and Meng Shutang still maintained the sleeping posture she had when he left.
Perhaps it was a bit warm; the blanket on her had slipped a few inches, covering only her waist and abdomen, exposing a slender, pale neck and shoulders that looked almost transparent in the dim light.
He loosened his tie, stepped lightly forward, casually turned on the small orange lamp by the bedside, and under its light her flawless features were clearly visible.
Her long lashes hung quietly, her cherry lips soft and tender, her whole body as supple as a handful of snow carefully protected—white and warm, yet dazzlingly bright.
He stood at the bedside for a moment, initially intending to lie down and hug her to sleep, but then changed his mind.
The slight sag of the mattress didn't wake Meng Shutang; he lay beside her, propping his head.
Meng Shutang was extraordinarily beautiful, like a crabapple flower, non‑aggressive yet flawless in beauty, truly a peerless earthly enchantress.
She slept deeply, lying there quietly without any seductive moves, yet Gu Yunci found himself gradually unable to restrain himself.
"Tang Tang."
The beauty gave no response.
"Princess."
Motionless.
She wore a crabapple‑pink nightgown, enveloped in the hazy orange light as if shrouded in a soft mist.
Gu Yunci rose, leaned down and gently kissed her cherry lips, then kissed her collarbone.
After a brief kiss, his clearly jointed fingers slipped into the delicate strap, slowly unfastening it, and then kissed her shoulder.
While asleep, Meng Shutang was kissed until her whole body went limp, a faint, fragmented whimper unintentionally rose from her throat—soft, slightly trembling, making one's heart tighten.
The man's hand brushed her waist, and Meng Shutang's already disordered aura became even more flustered.
"What are you doing?"
She thought he was playing a prank, turned over and kept sleeping, while Gu Yunci's hand stroked her leg.
She sensed his intention, trying to push him away amid the lingering kisses, but the man persisted, "Don't push me… I feel uncomfortable."
Gu Yunci slipped his hand around her calf from behind, the crabapple‑pink silk dress sliding off at the knee, revealing the most straightforward desire behind it.
He wrapped his arms around her from behind, and amid her subtle tremor, asked, "Where are you now?"
Meng Shutang made no sound.
The man stood, grabbed both of her legs and pulled them toward him, "Weren't we like this in the bathroom last night… now you're complaining about me?"
……
Meng Shutang, hearing "last night," suddenly realized something; she hadn't told her grandmother about coming over, and didn't know if Xin Xin would be angry about not returning home that night.
But she hadn't spoken a complete sentence; the sound from her throat became a fragmented whimper, bearing some helplessness and some obedience.
Gu Yunci clutched her waist, which was less than a hand's breadth; the blue veins on the back of his cold white hand rose, and he completely switched from a drowsy state to a fully awake, heated consciousness.
Meng Shutang didn't know when she fell asleep; when she woke again, sunlight had already reached the treetop of the plane tree beside them.
She turned, glanced at Gu Yunci behind her, suddenly thought of something, sat up with a thump, and began searching for her phone.
The phone wasn't in her bag; she glanced at the nightstand and saw it was charging.
Seeing it fully charged, she picked it up and called her grandmother, "Grandma, Xin Xin has gone to kindergarten, right?"
On the other end, Li Xiuyun's gentle voice said, "Yes, I and Aunt Li are at home, you don't need to worry."
"How are you? Last night Gu Yunci called me saying he'd take you to Chengxi Bieshu to discuss something; you've been too tired caring for your mother lately, so you slept there."
"Your mother hired a caregiver, didn't she? You also have a job, you can't be too…"
Meng Shutang had a strict upbringing; before marriage, as a young lady she had to be home before nine p. m., never staying out overnight.
Even now, she still feels lingering fear of Li Xiuyun's strict discipline; when calling her grandmother, she feels like a high‑schooler in a first love, fearing her grandmother's criticism.
Yet, who would have thought her grandmother would be so protective of her.
"I'm fine; Grandma won't talk to you, we'll chat when we get back."
Meng Shutang hung up the phone, and a pair of hands gently embraced her from behind, a broad warm chest pressed against her back, strong arms firmly encircled her waist and abdomen, wrapping her completely in the embrace.
He nestled at her neck, his breath falling on the side of her throat with a faint warmth, "Lunch is ready, shall we go eat something?"
Meng Shutang was indeed hungry, "Mm."
Gu Yunci took her hand, and the two of them came down from the second floor; Zhang Ma was busy preparing lunch.
When Meng Shutang saw her for a moment, awkwardness and shyness flooded her emotions; she instinctively brushed her hair back, and her thin skin flushed crimson.
After all, they weren't married, yet they lived together.
But Gu Yunci confidently pulled her to sit at the table and greeted Zhang Ma, "Zhang Ma, have you eaten?"
Zhang Ma nodded, "I've already eaten," and after saying that, she greeted Meng Shutang, "Everything I made today is the dishes Miss Meng likes to eat."
Meng Shutang gave a slight nod, not daring to look at her.
Zhang Ma's gaze lingered for a moment, instantly understanding her awkwardness; with a gentle smile, she said nothing more, set the bowls and chopsticks in place, and left.
Gu Yunci looked at Meng Shutang, "What, are you shy?"
