Chapter 26: Out of Control, Kissing Her
"Brother Yunci, stay at my place tonight… okay?"
Bai Cixian's fair shoulders half-exposed, her slender fingers traced across Gu Yunci's chest as she intended to settle into his embrace.
Gu Yunci pushed her away and stood up. "There's a document I need for tomorrow's meeting. I have to go back and get it."
Bai Cixian's eyes reddened, but as Gu Yunci stood, she still aggrievedly yet understandingly offered him his coat. "I'm just a little afraid of the dark, that's why I wanted you to stay with me.
Since you're busy, then go be busy!"
After the man left, she leisurely picked up the stemless wine glass he had just used, red wine covering a third of the bottom. Her fingertips pinched the glass body and swirled it, her lips lightly pressing against the rim where he had touched as she took a sip, her eyes hooking toward the doorway.
In the car, Gu Yunci received a call from Gu Yeheng.
"I'm at the old residence. Come back for a moment."
Gu Yunci said, "If there's something, just say it over the phone!"
"Do I now not even have the right to see my own son?"
Twenty minutes later, Gu Yunci arrived at the old residence's greenhouse.
Gu Yeheng stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, catching sight of him approaching from the corner of his eye, gripping a pair of scissors.
"Your mother was once a stubborn flower too, insisting on blooming against the tide, ultimately ending up withered and fallen.
But now, there's another one in this greenhouse, knowing full well it can't bear fruit, yet still refusing to leave. If I don't cut it, leaving it there is truly an eyesore!"
As his words fell, a crisp 'snip' sounded — branch and flower bud together dropped to the ground.
Gu Yunci furrowed his brow, his hand slightly clenching tight.
"Jin Xing is coming back. You still haven't divorced Meng Shutang — are you really going to, for an outsider, make it so your brother can never enter this family's door?"
Gu Yunci looked at him, every word heavy. "You have no right to curse my mother. As for my affairs, I know what I'm doing."
After saying that, he turned and left.
After Gu Yunci left, Gu Yeheng went to find the old lady.
The old lady said, "Why must you force them to divorce?"
Gu Yeheng said, "Mom, the two of them reaching this point today — was that me forcing them?
I merely watched them torment each other and gave a push, that's all.
Three years ago, I told you plainly: she and Yunci are not on the same path. She doesn't deserve our Gu family at all.
She ruined my eldest son, drove my second son to run away from home — she's just like Yunci's wretched mother, destroying herself and still dragging us down with her.
Don't interfere anymore. This time, either he initiates the divorce, or I make that girl disappear completely. You choose."
The old lady slowly sat down and said no more.
Gu Yunci returned to Qian Shui Wan.
Seeing his scarf left on the dining table, his heart lifted with delight.
Who brought it in for him, and actually placed it here.
He picked it up, intending to take it back to his room, when he suddenly discovered the scarf had been cut. He anxiously called out to Auntie Zhang, "Auntie Zhang, what happened?"
Auntie Zhang gave a faint smile. "Oh, the Young Madam saw that the kitchen was short on cleaning rags, thought this one was absorbent and stain-resistant, so she cut it up for me to use."
Saying that, she picked it up and headed back to the kitchen. "President Gu, I have to say, it really does work better than the ones I bought."
The man's expression turned cold and dark. "Where's Meng Shutang? Tell her to come down."
Auntie Zhang went upstairs to call Meng Shutang. "Young Madam, don't be afraid of him. Auntie Zhang is on your side this time."
Meng Shutang came downstairs. The man gripped the scarf, his icy gaze falling on her face. "You cut this?"
Meng Shutang's heart twisted with a pang of pain, a suffocating sensation spreading through her until she could no longer hold back. "It's just a scarf, not some rare treasure. If you care so much, just have Miss Bai knit you another one."
"I'm talking about the scarf — why are you dragging Cixian into this?" Gu Yunci frowned, feeling she was being unreasonable.
"Isn't it because the two of you are unclear with each other? You parade her around in public all day. Go ask at the company — how many people think you two are innocent?"
Though Meng Shutang's words were sharp, her emotions had remained steady throughout.
It was Gu Yunci, instead, who for some reason had been in a state of losing control ever since he discovered the scarf had been cut.
"I can hear it — you're saying we spent day and night together, that we've been in bed, is that it?"
Auntie Zhang stood to the side. "President Gu, please don't say that. The Young Madam didn't think that."
Meng Shutang didn't want the crossfire to reach Auntie Zhang. "That's exactly what I think. Auntie Zhang, go downstairs. Don't come out unless called."
Auntie Zhang glanced at Meng Shutang, then at Gu Yunci. "Okay."
After Auntie Zhang left, Gu Yunci said, "Who told you I slept with her? Did you hide under the bed and watch?"
Meng Shutang stood on the stairs, her slender fingers resting on the railing. "The tie, the lipstick mark, and tonight… Gu Yunci, you claim you keep yourself clean and pure as jade — do you even believe that yourself?"
"I don't keep myself clean, I'm not pure as jade?"
Gu Yunci was so angry he laughed. "So in your eyes, I'm just a man who can't control his lower half, whose heart is even wilder than his body, is that right?"
Meng Shutang looked down at him. "Aren't you?"
If his lower half wasn't commanding his brain, unable to stay still for even a moment, how could he have parachuted Bai Cixian into the Gu Clan, and still been carrying on with her at the company?
If he wasn't thinking with his crotch, how could he have slept with her when he didn't love her, when he saw her as a tool for revenge?
Gu Yunci was thoroughly angry enough to laugh, the tip of his tongue pressing against his cheek, his back teeth nearly cracking. "Fine, I can't stand loneliness, I want to flirt with anyone I see."
The air after the argument was still taut. The man strode quickly to Meng Shutang's side.
One hand seized her wrist, the other clamped around her slender waist, and the next second, the world spun —
He hoisted her straight onto his shoulder, the movement rough and brooking no resistance.
"Gu Yunci, what are you doing? Put me down."
Gu Yunci carried her to the master bedroom and tossed her onto the bed.
He violently yanked off his tie and threw it onto the bed, his gaze burning as he looked at her, as if he wanted to devour her alive.
"You tell me — what am I going to do?"
Speaking, he leaned forward and pressed down; a cold, pure fragrance lingered at her nose, a breath unique to a man, enveloping her deeply.
Meng Shutang reached out to push him, but instead he grabbed her wrist, lifted it over her head, and cuffed it to the bed.
She kicked him with her foot again, but he directly spread her legs apart and lay on top of her.
His other hand pinched her slender neck, not letting her move at all, as a cold kiss fell upon her.
Meng Shutang struggled desperately to escape, but before the man she was as useless as a white rabbit before a big gray wolf.
"Gu Yunci, please..."
Before, on the bed, Meng Shutang had begged him while crying.
Seeing her tearful, pear-blossom-like face, he would always temporarily ease his force, patiently draw her into his embrace, kiss the tears on her face, and softly coax her.
But this tenderness would not last long.
After she had cried her fill, he would again grip her waist and press her back onto the bed.
All the restraint he had just shown would vanish, becoming even more fierce and cruel than before, intensifying further, leaving her no room for compromise.
Meng Shutang burst into uncontrollable tears, "Gu Yunci, don't make me hate you."
The man's body stiffened, "I have never slept with Bai Cixian."
