Chapter 312: Si Rong Decides to Cook in Person

~8 min read 1,453 words

"You've come at just the right time," Jiang Cheng said, coming out to greet him and taking the things Fu Yang was carrying. "Your Aunt Si Rong is going to cook in person today."

Fu Yang followed him inside. "Are Si Yu and the others back from their break?"

"They just got back today."

Fu Yang suddenly felt nervous, even though this was a meeting he had been looking forward to for a long time.

But now that the meeting had arrived, he felt a bit afraid.

Afraid that Juzi wouldn't want to talk to him.

Afraid that Juzi would choose to be with someone else.

But going abroad to study was not only Wan Fang's wish, it was something he had to do.

Having grown up abroad with Wan Fang, he knew how hard his mother had worked to build the business to where it was today, and he couldn't let those people turn his mother's hard work into their family assets; he couldn't let his mother fight this battle alone.

After entering the living room, he didn't see Juzi, but he did see Jiang Sinian.

"Oh! The international student is here! Our Jiang Family is truly honored by your presence!"

Jiang Sinian teased; back then, his family's silly Juzi had been sad more than once because of this guy.

Fu Yang forced a smile. "Did you guys just finish your break?"

"Yeah, we can't compare to the happy education you get abroad. Nothing to be done about that, after all, the moon is rounder abroad!"

"My ID card says I'm a citizen of Huaguo."

Jiang Sinian raised an eyebrow. "Then I truly misunderstood you. Welcome, Chinese-American!"

Jiang Yue gave him a nudge and gestured for Fu Yang to sit down.

Then, she quietly went upstairs and knocked twice on the door to Si Yu's room.

"It's me."

"Come in, the door isn't locked." Si Yu's voice sounded listless.

Jiang Yue went in and saw her lying on the bed; when Si Yu was in a bad mood, she wouldn't do anything, just lie on the bed hugging her doll.

"Fu Yang is here."

"I know."

"If you don't see him, you won't be able to see him again once we go back to school or after he goes abroad." Jiang Yue combed through her long hair with her fingers, stroke by stroke.

"If I can't see him, then I won't."

Jiang Yue knew she had a childish temperament and coaxed her, "Then why are you still so upset?"

"If there's something wrong, you might as well be clear about it. People's hearts are separated by their chests; if you don't say some things and keep them hidden inside, no one will ever know."

Si Yu lifted her eyelids to look at her. "Is this a realization you've had since you started dating my brother?"

"I suppose so," Jiang Yue said, standing up. "I think Fu Yang likes you very much; it's just that there are misunderstandings between you two that haven't been cleared up."

"Forget it, if you don't want to see him, then don't."

Jiang Yue stood up, but Si Yu grabbed her wrist from the bed. "I... I'd better go down with you! I'm hungry."

She threw off the quilt, looking a bit shy. "Do you think I look good in this sweater dress?"

There was heating in the house, and she was wearing a long red knitted dress that reached her ankles.

It was very bright and beautiful.

"You look extremely beautiful." Jiang Yue had always liked to compliment her.

Si Yu linked her arm with hers. "Seriously, Yueyue, I really can't bear to let you go to my brother."

She was just too much to her liking.

Jiang Yue:...

Si Yu went downstairs in her red dress, and Fu Yang was momentarily stunned.

Jiang Sinian let out a cold snort.

"It's snowing outside," Jiang Yue said, pulling on Jiang Sinian. "Let's go out and watch the snow!"

She wanted to leave the living room to Si Yu and Fu Yang.

Unexpectedly, just as Jiang Sinian stood up, Si Yu had already taken his girlfriend's hand first. "Okay!"

Si Yu hadn't even figured out what she wanted to say to Fu Yang yet.

Should she admit her previous feelings for him? Or blame him for going abroad to study?

In the country, one could only get into a second- or third-tier university, but going abroad to study and getting a gilded degree meant one could get into a good graduate school; the prospects were much better.

What right did she have to hinder his future?

Jiang Yue:...

And so, it ended up being four people going out to watch the snow.

The snowflakes drifted down, very beautiful.

In this hazy, snowy scene, Fu Yang looked at Si Yu quietly.

Before this meeting, he had many things he wanted to say to Si Yu.

But now, looking at Si Yu's indifferent attitude, he felt that perhaps she wouldn't care about anything he said.

From the very beginning, it had been his one-sided confession; Si Yu had never promised him anything.

She had only given him an ambiguous book and the four words "Huaiyang University."

And he hadn't even managed to get in.

What else could he say now? What face did he have to say anything?

"How is Huai Da?"

After deliberating for a long time, he asked this question.

Si Yu knitted her willow-leaf brows. "Pretty good."

She asked Fu Yang again, "Is studying abroad good?"

"It is." Fu Yang nodded, smiling bitterly, and took a small box out of his pocket.

It was a purple brocade box, with a somewhat ugly bow tied on top.

"This is a birthday gift for you."

Jiang Siyu originally did not want to take it, but upon catching Fu Yang's cautious expression, she felt a bit of pity and ended up taking it.

Inside the house, Jiang Cheng was calling them to eat.

Jiang Yue and Jiang Sinian went back first.

Fu Yang took out his mobile phone and asked Jiang Siyu pitifully, "Did you block me? I can't get through when I call you."

Jiang Siyu:...

She had indeed blocked him; this person was thick-skinned enough to actually ask her to her face.

Forget it, considering he still knew to give her a birthday gift, Jiang Siyu took out her phone and manipulated it for a moment, "Alright, you're unblocked, don't call me unless necessary."

"I know," Fu Yang smiled somewhat foolishly.

He seemed to have grown taller and thinner, his gaze sincere when looking at Jiang Siyu, "I'll only call when I miss you very, very much."

"I still have about two years of study abroad, but I will come back as soon as possible," he promised.

Once his mother's company assets were stably transferred back to the country, he would not go abroad again.

Jiang Siyu's eyebrows twitched slightly, and she said nothing more.

There was nothing worth believing in such a promise spanning two years; only time had the right to prove it.

"Aunt has been a bit busy these past few days and hasn't had much time to accompany you," Shen Yuan coughed twice, hurriedly wrapping dumplings for Bai Mo, "You're hungry, right? The dumplings will be ready to eat soon."

Bai Mo lowered her eyes, "Aunt, what kind of work are you doing now? Now that I'm on break, I can go help you."

"No need," Shen Yuan refused without even thinking, "Aunt can manage on her own. You are the university student in our family; you are to bring honor to me and your father in the future. Just stay home and read."

Besides, how could she have the face to let her niece know about her work?

Bai Mo therefore did not insist further.

She had not been back for a long time and felt a sense of nostalgia.

In the evening, Bai Mo returned to the high school she had attended; back then, she and Jiang Sinian had also been very close.

No matter what unreasonable demands she made, Jiang Sinian would satisfy them.

If she hadn't been angry back then because Jiang Sinian took Jiang Yue's father to the hospital and missed their date, would they still be together happily now?

Unconsciously, she wandered to Zhangshu Street, where she and Jiang Sinian had once eaten ice cream side by side.

Her thoughts were trapped in memories, unwilling to come out.

Just in this trance, she seemed to truly see Jiang Sinian.

She rubbed her eyes; it was not a hallucination. She not only saw Jiang Sinian and Jiang Yue, but also saw them walking hand-in-hand along Zhangshu Street!
