Chapter 118: Supernatural Disorder, Beset by Difficulties
"Uh..." Ji Chen let out a muffled groan, his face becoming increasingly pale.
The supernatural energy that had originally surged like a river was now like a crazed wild beast, charging and crashing within him, tearing at his meridians.
He tried to mobilize the Inheritance Power to suppress this disorder, but it was like a clay ox entering the sea, having no effect at all.
The surrounding air began to distort, visible energy fluctuations spreading like ripples, emanating a dangerous aura.
Seeing this, Ceng Yue felt a tightness in her heart, worry climbing onto her brows.
She reached out, wanting to touch Ji Chen, but paused in mid-air, fearing her actions would exacerbate his pain.
"Are you okay?" Her voice carried a trace of trembling, the cold tone unable to hide her concern.
"I... can't control it..." Ji Chen gritted his teeth, beads of sweat the size of beans sliding down his forehead.
He felt as if his body were about to be torn apart, the intense pain leaving him almost unable to breathe.
In order to seek a solution, they followed the clues they had obtained and came to a mysterious place said to be able to stabilize supernatural powers.
It was gloomy and dark here, the air permeated with a smell of decay, making one's hair stand on end.
Just as they stepped into this area, a "click" sound came from beneath their feet.
Immediately after, a sharp arrow shot out from the wall, heading straight for Ji Chen's face with a whistling sound.
At the critical moment, Ceng Yue pushed him away, the arrow flying past his cheek and leaving a shallow bloodstain.
"Careful!" Ceng Yue shouted in a low voice, looking around vigilantly.
This place was clearly riddled with mechanisms and traps, every step potentially triggering fatal danger.
"Click, click..." The sound of mechanisms starting followed one after another, like notes of death, making one's heart jump.
They proceeded cautiously, every step like walking on thin ice.
The stifling atmosphere surged like the tide, almost suffocating them.
Suddenly, the ground ahead collapsed, revealing a bottomless cave.
Ji Chen grabbed Ceng Yue, barely escaping a disaster.
"It seems this place is even more dangerous than we imagined..." he said in a low voice, his gaze deep.
The two looked at each other, both seeing the solemnity in the other's eyes.
In the distance, a low humming sound came vaguely...
"What is that sound?" Ceng Yue frowned.
Ji Chen shook his head, signaling her to remain quiet.
He slowly drew the long saber from his back, the blade reflecting a cold light in the dim light.
"Get ready..." he said in a low voice, his gaze fixed tightly on the direction from which the sound came...
Ji Chen's heart was currently staging an intense "debate."
On one side was the restless energy within his body, like a wild horse without a bridle, ready to tear him to pieces at any moment; on the other side was this eerie unknown place, as if it had opened its bloody mouth, waiting for the prey to throw itself into the trap.
His brows were locked tight, the veins on his temples throbbing, as if he were wrestling with the "husky" inside his body.
The surrounding energy fluctuations also seemed to sense his hesitation, sometimes colliding violently, sometimes probing gently, much like playing "Truth or Dare."
"If this continues, I'm afraid I'm going to explode on the spot." Ji Chen cursed in his heart.
He took a deep breath, a flash of resolution crossing his eyes.
Wealth is sought in danger; how can you catch tiger cubs without entering the tiger's den!
He wasn't the type of "little coward" who would sit and wait for death.
He pressed his hand against the cold stone wall, carefully feeling the flow of energy in the air.
Relying on his years of experience "roughing it" with supernatural powers, he carefully avoided one hidden mechanism trap after another like an experienced "bomb disposal expert."
The deathly melody of "click-click" beneath his feet also gradually slowed down.
Ji Chen hooked the corner of his mouth, revealing a confident smile.
He moved through the dangerous jungle like an agile leopard, appearing at ease.
"It seems my 'dodge' talent is maxed out!" He couldn't help but silently give himself a like in his heart.
The originally stifling aura around him seemed to have eased, as if applauding his brilliant operation.
Ceng Yue had been following silently behind him, watching him deal with everything calmly and coolly, a trace of admiration flashing in her cold eyes.
She raised the corners of her mouth slightly; although the amplitude was small, it was enough to prove her current mood.
"Not bad, it seems you aren't completely useless." Ceng Yue said in her still cold tone, yet revealing a trace of imperceptible appreciation.
Ji Chen heard this and raised an eyebrow triumphantly, just about to retort, when he suddenly felt his foot step on a loose stone slab.
"Careful!" He subconsciously pulled Ceng Yue back, looking forward vigilantly.
"This place is truly insidious, playing these sneak attack tricks." Ji Chen complained in a low voice, the smile on his face freezing.
"Stop talking nonsense, pay attention to your surroundings." Ceng Yue remained in her cold manner, but her tone carried a trace of concern.
Ji Chen slowly drew his long saber, the blade flashing with cold light in the dim light, staring fixedly ahead, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's.
"Next, I'm afraid we'll have to get serious..." he said softly.
"Hum..." A low humming sound came again, this time much clearer than before, as if right in his ear.
Ceng Yue looked up at Ji Chen, her brows locked tight; suddenly, she seemed to have seen something, her pupils shrinking abruptly.
"You..." Ceng Yue just wanted to say something, but suddenly stopped abruptly; she slowly raised her hand,
"A huge wave of wild monsters is coming! Prepare for a team fight!" Ji Chen roared in a low voice, gripping his long saber tightly.
Only to see a group of puppets surging from the depths of the cave, their shapes varied, but all emanating a cold metallic luster, their eyes flickering with eerie red light.
"Click, click, click..." The puppets approached with uniform steps, the sound of joint friction sounding exceptionally harsh in the silent space.
The attack style of these puppets was surprisingly consistent, very much like elementary school broadcast gymnastics, one move after another, with no novelty at all.
Ji Chen and Ceng Yue quickly captured their attack pattern and began to counterattack.
Sword light and sword shadows intertwined, the sound of metal collisions like dense drumbeats, echoing in the cave.
"That iron lump on the left, I'll leave it to you!" Ji Chen shouted to Ceng Yue while dodging the puppet's attack.
"Received!" Ceng Yue was concise, the long sword in her hand dancing like a spirit snake, sword Qi crisscrossing, shaving off the arm of a puppet.
"Beautiful!" Ji Chen couldn't help but cheer, simultaneously slashing at the puppet in front of him. The blade swept past, sparks flying, and the puppet fell to the ground in response.
The battle grew more intense, the surrounding stone walls shattered by the energy impact, debris flying everywhere.
Ji Chen and Ceng Yue stood back-to-back, coordinating with perfect tacit understanding. Their eyes met occasionally, and without needing words, they could understand each other's hearts.
A sense of warmth of relying on each other in life and death permeated the air, out of place in this cold cave.
Suddenly, the disordered supernatural power within Ji Chen surged again, causing his figure to pause.
"Damn it!" he cursed inwardly, a puppet seizing the opportunity to swing the giant axe in its hand and hack toward him.
At the critical moment, Ji Chen suddenly remembered a strange stone he had obtained earlier, said to be able to temporarily suppress supernatural disorder.
He didn't hesitate to crush the stone, a cool aura instantly flowing through his entire body, the disordered supernatural power becoming quiet like a tamed beast.
"Heh, finally quieted down!" Ji Chen sneered, swinging his long saber, the blade light slashing out like a silk ribbon, splitting the puppet in front of him in two.
As the last puppet fell to the ground, the cave returned to peace, only the dust and faint smell of blood in the air proving the intense battle that had just taken place.
"Phew... finally got it done!" Ji Chen let out a long breath, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"These puppets are just appetizers..." Ceng Yue looked into the depths of the cave, her eyes deep.
Ji Chen also put away his relaxed expression. He gripped the long saber in his hand, his eyes firm, "Let's go, continue forward!"
The two continued to delve deeper; in the dimness, faint light seemed to flicker...
"Wait..." Ji Chen suddenly stopped his steps. ===== CHAPTER 119 =====
