Chapter 23: Conspiracy

The joy of victory surged like a tide but quickly receded. Ji Chen and Ceng Yue did not immerse themselves in the short-lived victory.

"You call this fine?!" Ji Chen's anger could no longer be suppressed. His eyes were bloodshot, and the self-blame in his heart was almost about to swallow him.

It was because he wasn't powerful enough!

He failed to protect her!

He felt everything around him turn into a giant vortex, wanting to swallow him and Ceng Yue completely.

The oppressive atmosphere made him almost unable to breathe.

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

Now was not the time for anger; he had to get Ceng Yue out of danger first.

He picked up Ceng Yue and didn't choose to confront the enemy head-on.

"Want to run? Not that easy!" A ferocious laugh came from the darkness, and the black shadows chased after them instantly.

Ji Chen ignored them, holding Ceng Yue, and flashed into an alleyway on the side.

He quickly operated the Supernatural Ability in his body, completely concealing his and Ceng Yue's aura, as if they had never appeared.

The alleyway was terrifyingly quiet, as if isolated from the world.

The black shadows rushed into the alleyway, only to find it empty, unable to feel even a trace of aura.

"Where are they?!" A black shadow roared in a low voice, carrying a hint of panic.

"Impossible, I clearly saw them run in!" Another black shadow also panicked, looking around, but found nothing.

"What's going on? Did we see ghosts?!"

Ji Chen and Ceng Yue disappeared like air, which made their plan completely fail.

Ji Chen and Ceng Yue were like treasure hunters, quickly flipping through those documents.

Ji Chen frowned, "These old guys, their hearts are dark enough!"

"This time, things are big." Ji Chen looked at the documents in his hand and muttered to himself.
