Chapter 33: Final Defeat of Darkness

The Dark Shield was like a giant black beetle, crouching ferociously before the two of them.

Viscous dark energy flowed across the surface of the shield, like boiling asphalt, emitting a nauseating, fishy stench.

The surrounding air seemed to have frozen, so oppressive it was hard to breathe.

"This thing looks thick-skinned!" Ji Chen complained, but there was no fear in his tone, only an excited fighting spirit.

He turned his head to look at Ceng Yue and found her staring fixedly at the shield, cold light flickering in her eyes.

He knew that, like him, she was prepared for a final stand.

"Want to try my new move?" The corners of Ji Chen's mouth curled into a confident arc. Light flickered in his hands as two completely different supernatural energies began to blend, intertwining like Yin-Yang fish, finally merging into a brand-new energy form.

This energy emitted a dazzling light, driving away the surrounding darkness, like a rising sun.

"Come on, blow it up!" Ji Chen let out a low growl and thrust the fused energy forward violently.

The energy transformed into a dazzling beam of light, slamming fiercely into the Dark Shield.

"Boom!"

With a loud bang, violent ripples spread across the surface of the shield, like a calm lake surface into which a giant boulder had been thrown.

At the point of impact, a tiny crack appeared; although insignificant, it was like a glimmer of hope torn open in the darkness.

The Dark Creature let out an angry roar, the flow of dark energy on the shield accelerated suddenly, and the crack began to heal slowly.

"It's repairing the shield! Quick, keep attacking!" Ceng Yue said urgently.

Ji Chen and Ceng Yue did not dare to delay, pouring out the fused energy once again.

With strike after strike, the cracks on the shield became more numerous and larger, and the Dark Creature's roars became increasingly urgent and frantic.

Just as they were about to completely break the shield, Ji Chen suddenly felt a strong sense of weakness; the supernatural ability within his body flowed away like a broken dam, and the light in his hands began to dim.

He turned to look at Ceng Yue and found her face had also turned pale, her breathing rapid.

Just as they were about to collapse, a flash of inspiration suddenly crossed Ji Chen's mind.

He suddenly moved his hand away from the Dark Shield, and then, he injected the very last bit of supernatural ability in his body into the ground beneath his feet, as if it were worthless.

"What are you doing!" Ceng Yue exclaimed; she didn't understand why Ji Chen would make such an abnormal move, knowing that their primary goal now was to break the Dark Shield before them.

The Dark Creature didn't seem to expect Ji Chen to pull this move either; its originally arrogant roar stopped abruptly, replaced by an eerie silence. The atmosphere all around became even more bizarre, and a suffocating pressure permeated the air.

"Hehe, courtesy demands reciprocity!" The corners of Ji Chen's mouth curled into a crazy smile, his eyes flickering with a cunning light, like a fox preparing to hunt.

He slowly raised his head and looked at the Dark Creature.

"Just wait and see, the good show has only just begun!" After Ji Chen finished speaking, a mysterious smile appeared on his face. He made a move that no one expected: he slowly closed his eyes, while his body began to tremble slightly...

The earth shook violently, and a powerful energy fluctuation erupted from beneath Ji Chen's feet, spreading rapidly along the ground like roaring dragons, rushing toward the direction of the Dark Shield.

"Crack!" A crisp sound broke the eerie silence; cracks appeared on the Dark Shield, spreading rapidly like a spiderweb, and finally, with a "Boom," the entire shield shattered completely, dissipating into the air as tiny black specks.

The Dark Creature let out a shrill scream, its massive body trembling violently as if suffering great pain.

"Now!" Ji Chen opened his eyes suddenly, sharp light shooting from them. He pulled Ceng Yue over, and both of them released the remaining supernatural ability in their bodies without reservation.

Two powerful energies intertwined, forming a dazzling pillar of light, like a light of judgment, slamming fiercely into the Dark Creature's body.

With an earth-shattering roar, the Dark Creature let out one final desperate wail; its body disintegrated in the dazzling light, finally turning into a cloud of black mist and dissipating without a trace.

The dark aura that had shrouded the Supernatural World also dissipated, and the warm sunlight shone down on the earth once again, driving away all the gloom.

"We won!"

"We defeated the Dark Creature!"

The surrounding Ability Users erupted into deafening cheers; they hugged each other excitedly, celebrating this hard-won victory.

Ji Chen and Ceng Yue stood in the center of the crowd, accepting everyone's reverence and cheers.

Ceng Yue threw herself into Ji Chen's arms excitedly, her eyes full of admiration and love, whispering, "You really are a madman, but I like it!"

Ji Chen hugged her tightly, a smug smile curling the corners of his mouth.

Just then, Ji Chen's gaze was suddenly drawn to a strange light in the distance.

The light flickered, emitting an unknown aura, causing an ominous premonition to rise in his heart.

He turned to look at Ceng Yue and found that she had also noticed the light.

"What is that?" Ceng Yue's tone carried a hint of confusion.

Ji Chen did not answer, only gripped her hand tightly, his gaze fixed firmly on the strange light.
