The Identities of Tyrion and Jon Snow

The Identities of Tyrion and Jon Snow

Let's start with the conclusion: Jon Snow is the bastard son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen (note, not a legitimate son);

The Imp Tyrion Lannister is the third child of Joanna Lannister and Tywin Lannister (the theory that he is the Mad King's son does not hold water; I will analyze it for everyone in detail).

One: Jon Snow.

The parentage of Jon "Know-Nothing" Snow is quite certain; it was after Lyanna and Rhaegar hooked up in 282 that Lyanna conceived and gave birth to him. The only suspense is how these two got together.

My personal speculation is as follows:

At the 281 Tourney at Harrenhal, Rhaegar won the championship and presented the crown of love and beauty to Lyanna, and the two began to take a liking to each other.

A year later, in the spring of 282, Brandon Stark married Catelyn Tully, and the people of House Stark traveled south for the wedding.

Somehow, Lyanna appeared in the Riverlands (she was not in the wedding party), and then the Mad King ordered two members of the Kingsguard to abduct her.

Why?

I mentioned earlier that Rhaegar wanted to contact the nobles to rebel because the Mad King tortured his wife all day, who was Rhaegar's mother.

Although the Mad King was muddled, he had a loyal subject like Varys by his side, and the move to recruit Jaime into the Kingsguard was facilitated by Varys.

Abducting Lyanna was to secure a hostage, because she was the eldest daughter of House Stark and also Robert's fiancée; this immediately gave him leverage over the three houses of fish, wolf, and stag.

But Rhaegar was, firstly, somewhat righteous; secondly, he had taken a fancy to Lyanna; and thirdly, he wanted to rebel, so he pursued them and snatched her back.

What kind of person was Rhaegar? Besides being skilled in martial arts and tall and handsome, he was a total romantic, fond of music, loved reading, and often took his harp alone to the ruins of Summerhall to play.

A tomboy like Lyanna simply could not resist such a romantic man. The two broke through the barrier between them and spent a year in Dorne having a shameless, happy romance.

Note: Dorne is the home territory of Rhaegar's wife.

That is likely how Jon Snow came to be; the details might be slightly different, but it is close enough.

Two: The tall and mighty Tyrion Lannister.

There have always been rumors that he is the bastard son of the Mad King, and stories have spread about his eye color, hair color, love for dragons, calling himself a Hill, being told by those around him that he is not Tywin's child, and even the difficult birth has been brought up as evidence.

But the reliability of these claims is about the same as a WeChat screenshot saying that Trump was f***ed by a dog.

Straight to the point, let's present the evidence.

Tyrion was born in 273, so regardless of whose seed he is, the "battle" with Joanna Lannister must have happened in 272.

During this year, Joanna spent most of her time at Casterly Rock in the far west, only visiting King's Landing once during the tourney for the tenth anniversary of the Mad King's reign.

What happened at this point in time?

When Tyrion's mother brought Jaime and Cersei to pay respects to Aerys II, the Mad King asked in public if Joanna's firm and proud breasts had been ruined by nursing the golden twins.

This caused Joanna great humiliation, and the Hand, Tywin, even resigned the next day because of it.

Afterward, Joanna returned to Casterly Rock, while Tywin remained in King's Landing.

In other words, if Tyrion were of Targaryen blood, the Mad King would have had to act within those short two or three days.

The Mad King and Joanna only met in public once, which was the audience mentioned above, and at that time, the Kingsguard were all around, especially Barristan Selmy.

It is impossible for the Mad King to have forced himself on her under the eyes of everyone without a single whisper getting out, so this occasion is ruled out.

If Aerys II wanted to cuckold Tywin afterward, he would have had to take the initiative to go find Joanna.

Let's look at the layout of the Red Keep: the King lived in Maegor's Holdfast, while Joanna and her husband Tywin lived in the Tower of the Hand, and they did not sleep in separate rooms.

Maegor's Holdfast and the Tower of the Hand are not connected; if the Mad King wanted to do something, he would have to run out of Maegor's Holdfast, climb the high steps of the Tower of the Hand, and then go in to find Joanna.

The Tower of the Hand has a characteristic: there are very high steps in front. Joffrey once questioned his "grandfather" because Tywin moved the Small Council to the meeting hall of the Tower of the Hand, during which he asked Tywin why he still had to climb the steps of the Tower of the Hand.

Given Joffrey's physique, he didn't want to climb the steps of the Tower of the Hand, so the Mad King surely could not have climbed up without gasping for air, then found Joanna without alerting any of Tywin's servants, and then successfully "done the deed."

Moreover, doing this would require avoiding the Kingsguard, because the white cloaks guarded the King in shifts day and night.

Coincidentally, there was a famous Knight by the Mad King's side at this time: Barristan.

Who is Gossip-stan Selmy? There isn't a piece of gossip in the entire Red Keep that he doesn't know.

Unlike Varys, Littlefinger, and Pycelle, Barristan gathered intelligence with his own ears, which shows how strong his ability to listen to gossip was.

If the King had disappeared for a period of time and dismissed the Kingsguard, Barristan would certainly have known, but he never mentioned this matter from beginning to end, so the Mad King sneaking off to "fight" with Joanna is truly just a rumor.

As for the three dragons and such, the Mother of Dragons had a situation where one dragon was bound to die (in the series, this plot was moved to the Night King, who killed it with a Javelin, but in reality, this dragon should have been taken down by Euron), so correspondingly, there are only two living members of House Targaryen.
