Chapter 80: Margaery

~8 min read 1,474 words

Their cousin, naturally, was Margaery Tyrell, nicknamed the Little Rose.

She smiled at Arthur, the stranger, first, before greeting her cousins.

Her doe-like, gentle eyes seemed to always carry a smile, and the corners of her mouth would lift from time to time, revealing her good mood and making her gorgeous face even more dazzling.

Her long, brown, curly hair draped lazily over her shoulders, accentuating the fairness of her arms; due to the constant heat of the Reach, she wore a very light, dark-colored dress that reached her feet, and a cyan belt that outlined her peerless figure.

Of course, what also caught Arthur's gaze was the generous capital on her chest.

He only found out about such a big matter now.

In short, Margaery was worthy of being called a peerless beauty.

Compared to Sansa, who was still only looking at faces, Margaery, who was much more mature in her conduct, was surprisingly very feminine.

Arthur had already begun to struggle with whether to marry her or Sansa, although in reality, he was still a bit far from the level of these two.

After struggling for a long time, Arthur reached his own conclusion: marrying both as primary wives was not impossible.

One could gain the entire North, and the other could gain the support of the Reach and a generous dowry.

If you're going to dream, you have to be bold.

"This is Arthur Bracken, he is..." Hobber was still thinking about introducing him to his cousin, but was interrupted by her.

"I know, he's the champion of the jousting tournament at Duke Stark's tourney, isn't he?" she said, though her eyes turned toward Arthur.

"In the past few days, your name has made my ears grow calluses from hearing it. A handsome and powerful Knight, who wouldn't love one?"

This statement had a bit of a problem; Arthur was not a Knight, a fact many people knew.

The small loophole showed that Margaery was not paying much attention to Arthur, but had routinely memorized current events and then pretended to be familiar with him.

This made the Lord of Red Mill a little disappointed, but he adjusted quickly.

Who told him he was only a minor noble now?

When he raised his own great army and dominated the entire continent, the Little Rose would surely remember every rumor about him clearly.

"It is my honor to have my deeds heard by a noble lady like you," Arthur also offered a polite, conventional remark.

After all, they had just met; it was impossible to speak deeply with her.

Only later would there be opportunities for deep intimacy and shallow words.

After the routine pleasantries, the group sat at one table, while their attendants found seats for themselves.

"You went to that school you run again?"

"Keep your distance from the commoners; they are very barbaric."

The two brothers apparently knew what Margaery had done in the morning and advised her.

The Little Rose gave a shallow smile, "Cousins, why are you speaking like that? As long as you are good to them, the commoners will also be good to you."

Arthur highly approved of this: "Well said. Heart for heart; they are also human, and they can also be influenced."

"You see, this Mr. Arthur is very sensible. The purpose of my holding the school is to influence the commoners from a young age. You have known me for so many years, yet your awareness is not even as good as Lord Bracken, whom I have just met."

Margaery echoed Arthur while refuting her cousins' attitude.

The twins knew their cousin's style of doing things and did not tangle with her on this topic.

Arthur, however, really wanted to keep talking to her.

Firstly, for her sake, and secondly, he also wanted to run a school or something; this was an artifact for farming reputation among the commoners.

"Can you introduce to me how your school works?" Arthur asked.

"Of course I can, Champion."

Margaery had previously been troubled that her actions were not recognized by the upper nobles of the Reach, and seeing someone who agreed with her, she immediately began to tell him very happily.

Arthur listened carefully for a long while, then summarized the situation of the school.

The teachers were all gentle Septons who had received an education, with room and board provided by the Tyrells. Margaery did not mention the wages of these Septons, and Arthur did not find it appropriate to ask.

The location was right in this ferry town.

The students were the local half-grown boys and farm girls.

The main reason parents agreed to let them attend school was that they were still young and could not help with work in the fields or workshops; keeping them at home, they were afraid they would tear the house apart, fall into the river, be snatched by animals, or other accidents, so having someone look after them was best.

Parents didn't actually care about them learning knowledge.

Who told them they were born as commoners? No matter how much a child learned, it was of no use.

By the time they grew to an age where they could do work, even the Lord's daughter could not convince them to let their children continue school.

Fortunately, the things the Septons taught were also very simple, and could be finished in a year or two.

In other words, this school not only served the function of a school but also had the function of a daycare.

This allowed parents engaged in production to work with complete peace of mind, without worrying about their children having no one to look after them.

"This is a great initiative, liberating parents who are exhausted from taking care of children, and also giving children a safe place to go," Arthur highly praised Margaery's actions.

"You are too kind; I am just doing a small thing because I have nothing to do."

Although Margaery was very humble in her words, she was still feeling sweet inside.

Finally, someone can understand my behavior, and he is a handsome man too.

"Only a noble lady like you, who cares for the people and thinks for the people, has the appearance of a Queen. Those two in the Red Keep are actually quite..."

Arthur mentioned it again, but was stopped by Margaery gesturing for him to cease.

"Queen Cersei and King Robert are both qualified rulers, and I am loyal to them."

The happy Margaery even used both hands to make a heart gesture in front of her chest to express her loyalty to the Iron Throne.

She found Arthur more and more pleasing to the eye; this person not only recognized her act of holding the school but also spoke out the identity she most wanted to become in the depths of her heart.

Queen, that was her goal.

I am going to be the woman who becomes King!

Arthur observed Margaery's expression carefully.

Although she denied her own ambition, one could still guess at the Little Rose's aspirations from the fleeting looks in her eyes.

In these fleeting looks, the left eye was filled with power, and the right eye was written full of desire.

It was vastly different from her usual peaceful and gentle gaze.

"Speaking of which, I also intend to establish a school in my own territory; this is a great benefit to the people. There are some issues I must consult the experienced Lady Margaery about, and I hope you will not hesitate to share your wisdom."

Arthur said this.

This was actually nonsense; the War of the Five Kings was about to break out, so how could he have time for such things?

But Margaery was very receptive to this.

During the time before the food was served, she explained in detail to Arthur the troubles she had encountered and the issues one should pay attention to when running a school.

Arthur admired Margaery's beauty while echoing her remarks.

The two brothers of House Redwyne could not get a word in and had to listen silently.

"Your experience has benefited me greatly; once I return to my territory and settle the dispute with my northern neighbor, I will open the school."

This was Arthur's concluding remark to Margaery's sharing of experience.

"Your northern neighbor still has a dispute with you? Could you tell me about it?"

The Little Rose was indeed intrigued.

Now the twins had a chance to speak.

The two of them vied to tell their cousin about the recent conflicts between Arthur and Raventree Hall, and they enthusiastically boasted of the Red Mill lord's peerless combat prowess.

"Cousin, do you know what the concept of taking out three hundred enemies on the battlefield is?"
