Chapter 35: Fierce Battle in the Mine Tunnel

Qin Hao Bei raised his hand to touch his shoulder, only to feel a handful of warm blood. He knew it was an injury sustained while by the off-road vehicle earlier.

But fortunately, it was only a shoulder injury; if the bullet had really hit this little girl, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

"I'm fine."

Qin Hao Bei raised his hand to press firmly on his shoulder, looking around cautiously. Just then, several more "bang, bang" gunshots came from not far away.

Damn it, out of ammo, yet the enemies hadn't been wiped out!

"Leave here first!"

Qin Hao Bei put the pistol back into his pocket, then pulled out a gleaming dagger from his waist, grabbed Shi Yi from the ground with his uninjured left hand, and shielded her as they walked toward the depths of the forest.

Gunfire was still ringing behind them. Just then, Qin Hao Bei saw a black opening not far ahead.

"It's an abandoned mine tunnel, hide inside first!" Qin Hao Bei whispered.

The mine tunnel was very narrow, only wide enough for half a body to enter. It was dark and cold inside, and Shi Yi had an instinctive fear of such enclosed, dark spaces, so she froze at the entrance, not daring to move.

"Are you afraid?"

Qin Hao Bei keenly sensed Shi Yi's emotions; her fingers were trembling slightly, and her palms were full of cold sweat.

Shi Yi turned around and saw that Qin Hao Bei's black-and-white eyes were full of firm resolve. She knew there was no other way, so she gripped Qin Hao Bei's hand tightly, nodded, and said, "Okay."

Shi Yi bent down and walked into the narrow mine tunnel. Qin Hao Bei followed Shi Yi while covering their rear.

Inside the mine tunnel was an abandoned mine path with hard, cold stone walls on both sides. The air was filled with the smell of dust and decay. After walking a few steps, a set of stairs leading underground appeared in front of them.

"It should lead to the mine pit. This is basalt, very sturdy, so it shouldn't collapse. Follow me."

As Qin Hao Bei spoke, he took a flashlight out of his backpack, pressed the button with a "click," and then, holding Shi Yi's hand, walked toward the dark underground.

The mine path below was even darker and colder, with standing water covering their feet. Stepping on it made a splashing sound. Shi Yi's shoes were completely soaked, and the bone-chilling cold and fear spread from the soles of her feet to her entire body.

After walking a short distance, several forks appeared in front of them. Looking at each fork, there were smaller forks, and the entire underground structure was like a huge maze, winding and turning.

Just then, a burst of noisy human voices came from outside.

"Fuck! Where is he?!"

"What the hell is this place!"

Shi Yi's heart tightened. The voices outside sounded like three or four people, each speaking fluent English; they didn't sound like locals of Sozali at all.

"They've followed us, what do we do?!"

Qin Hao Bei decisively chose a small path on the right and walked forward along it. Under the dim light, Shi Yi saw his face was pale, and the temperature of his fingers was dropping bit by bit.

"Where are you going?"

Qin Hao Bei curled his lips into a smile, "To fight monsters."

Shi Yi's heart was suddenly flooded with endless fear. She wasn't afraid of death, but she was afraid of the dark.

"Don't go!"

Qin Hao Bei saw Shi Yi's fear. He smiled, shook his head, took something out of his backpack, and placed it beside Shi Yi, "You're afraid of the dark, right? Don't be afraid, this will be fine."

With a "click," a flame lit up, and at the same time, a trace of warmth began to permeate the air.

Shi Yi turned her head and saw it was a lit lighter.

"Wait for me."

After Qin Hao Bei finished speaking, he gripped his dagger and turned to walk out nimbly. When he reached the entrance, he suddenly turned his head and smiled, "Little Limpy, if I can come back alive, you have to tell me your name."

Qin Hao Bei walked out from behind the stone wall, kicked the black man's corpse away, and then bent down to pick up the pistol dropped on the ground.

Soon, two more men in camouflage uniforms chased over. This time, they were two young men with blonde hair, blue eyes, and white skin. They looked furious, but couldn't hide their nervous expressions.

"Qin, fuck you get out! I know you are here!"

"Heh, Jack, Allen, I've been waiting for you for a long time." Qin Hao Bei smiled slightly and replied in fluent English, but didn't appear.

His voice echoed in the dark cave like a judgment:

"I know you were forced to do this, serving the US government, but your country and that weak, incompetent government of Sozali are colluding to secretly spread a deadly virus in Sozali! Making countless innocent people in Sozali suffer! As an American, don't you feel ashamed? If you still have a conscience, surrender and leave now, don't meddle in my business, and I can spare your dog lives!"

"Bang, bang, bang!"

The two blue-eyed little devils were so angry their faces turned white. They raised their guns and fired wildly toward the front.

"Fuck you Qin! Bastard! Go to die!"

The air was filled with the thick smell of gunpowder. Countless bullets in the darkness hit the walls, sparking bright fire. The two angry American devils approached the stone wall step by step, firing wildly at Qin Hao Bei.

Just then, a black figure flew up from behind the stone wall with a "whoosh."

The next second, the figure was like a god descending from heaven, having already approached the two soldiers before they knew it. With a "swish" sound.

Cold light cut through their throats.

Warm, bright red blood sprayed out like a fountain, splashing onto the cold stone wall.

At the same time, their green eyes gradually lost focus, and two heavy bodies fell to the ground like machines that had suddenly run out of fuel, not moving at all.

Qin Hao Bei landed like a nimble swallow, wiped the blood-stained blade with his fingers in disgust, and snorted coldly.
