Chapter 238: Waiting for You to Reach the Peak! Hua Ning
“Hahaha, Master Cheng, you’ve come out of the Law Enforcement Hall!”
Amid a burst of laughter, two more figures dashed onto the peak.
The newcomers were Zhu Junwen, Elder of the Ten Thousand Streams Sect, and Shi Jian, Elder of the Cangyue Sect.
Cheng Yuan glanced back at them coldly, a mocking sneer curling his lips: “You two lapdogs stick close—smell the scent and come running.”
Shi Jian’s brows snapped together; he growled harshly: “Master Cheng, that’s a bit too harsh.”
Zhu Junwen, however, paid no mind, still wearing his amiable, scholarly smile, his tone even tinged with feigned concern:
“We heard Master Cheng entered the Law Enforcement Hall—we were deeply worried.”
“So the moment you stepped out, we came right away to see you.”
“How was it? Did Elder Lu give you trouble?”
“Don’t mention those three words—‘Law Enforcement Hall’—to me.” Cheng Yuan’s face darkened into a snarling mask; he whirled around, eyes blazing with malice: “Or I’ll make you both end up like the Tianqing Sect—not a single thread of primordial qi will you get!”
The instant he spoke, a torrent of raging fire qi erupted from his body, surging like a cloud of flame to engulf the two.
“Master Cheng, you’re too tyrannical!”
“Primordial qi has always been divided equally among our three sects—when did it become yours to distribute?”
Neither stepped back; their own qi surged forth—one heavy and mountainous, the other cool and endless like tides—interweaving to firmly resist Cheng Yuan’s blazing fire aura.
Individually, their strength certainly fell short of Cheng Yuan’s.
But together, they were hardly weaker than him.
BOOM—
The three primordial qi auras crashed violently atop the peak, sending a hurricane-like shockwave through the air that flattened every sparse plant and blade of grass on the summit.
At that moment,
“Oh? I didn’t expect another new guest here besides us.”
Zhu Junwen, the most perceptive of the three, suddenly turned toward the East Peak, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
The other two followed his gaze.
There, at the edge of the East Peak, stood a woman clad in a simple, moon-white long dress.
It was Liu Qingyu.
Seeing all three primordial cultivators turn toward her, Liu Qingyu’s starlike eyes darkened with gravity.
She had been monitoring every subtle shift in the peak’s spiritual energy.
She hadn’t expected three primordial cultivators to be present today.
Yet her face showed no fear.
After all, she was still within the boundaries of the East Peak—not yet stepped into the summit zone.
“It seems our ‘new neighbor’ is also quite interested in the primordial qi.”
Shi Jian’s eyes darted, then he burst into loud laughter, his coarse voice clearly aiming to divert trouble eastward.
The primordial qi hadn’t yet formed; he and Zhu Junwen had no desire to fight this mad old man yet.
Having a target to distract the old lunatic was perfect.
They all knew Cheng Yuan despised the Tianqing Sect with burning hatred.
Sure enough,
The moment Cheng Yuan saw Liu Qingyu, the fire qi swirling around him flared even hotter; veins bulged on his forehead, making his already ferocious face look even more monstrous.
But to Zhu Junwen and Shi Jian’s surprise, he didn’t explode in rage—he locked his gaze on Liu Qingyu and let out a low, rasping laugh, thick with long-suppressed malice and killing intent:
“Hahaha! I feared most that you wouldn’t dare come to fight for the primordial qi!”
“You show your face? I’m delighted! Truly delighted!”
His laughter cut off abruptly; his eyes turned icy as blades, fixed on Liu Qingyu, his voice dropping to frost:
“Where’s that old man? Why hasn’t he shown himself?”
Liu Qingyu shot him a cold glance, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Seeing this, Cheng Yuan’s brows twitched violently; he bit his teeth and roared with laughter:
“Good! Good! Good!”
“It makes me even more eager for the day the primordial qi is born!”
“I’m waiting for that day!”
With that, his fire aura snapped back instantly; he didn’t even glance at the other two, and walked away.
As the scorching, cloud-like aura receded, Zhu Junwen and Shi Jian both exhaled in relief.
Seeing Cheng Yuan’s earlier stance, they’d truly feared he’d go berserk and start a brawl.
“Brother Zhu, look at how crazy that old ghost Cheng is—when the primordial qi comes...”
Shi Jian spoke with a grim face.
Zhu Junwen’s scholarly expression twisted into a cold smirk:
“We can let him have his way normally, but not when it comes to the primordial qi.”
“As long as you and I join forces, even if that old madman goes berserk, he won’t swallow us whole!”
Shi Jian nodded in agreement, then turned his gaze toward the East Peak, a sly smile forming: “You think the Tianqing Sect will actually dare show up...?”
Zhu Junwen snorted, his tone dripping with disdain: “Impossible! Didn’t you see how Cheng’s acting? If they show up, it’s suicide.”
Shi Jian laughed: “True.”
As days passed,
The spiritual energy atop the peak grew denser, coiling like countless fine threads twisted into a single rope by invisible force.
The Chiyan Sect, Ten Thousand Streams Sect, and Cangyue Sect all dispatched many disciples to take turns guarding the peak, monitoring every minute fluctuation in the spiritual energy.
Tianyun Peak, East Peak.
Many disciples kept glancing toward the summit, their faces etched with worry.
By now, even these Foundation Establishment and Qi Condensation disciples could faintly sense the changes in the peak’s spiritual energy.
They knew this struggle for the primordial qi might decide whether the Tianqing Sect could remain on Tianyun Peak at all.
In a courtyard near the waterfall,
“Sis, do you think we’ll join the fight for the primordial qi?”
Hua Tian reclined on a stone table, massaging her shoulders with alternating light and firm pressure, idly chatting with her sister.
Hua Ning, eyes half-closed, savored the rare moment of peace.
After a moment, she slowly opened her eyes, her gaze heavy, whispering: “Probably... the Peak Master has been climbing the mountain daily—can’t just be for fun...”
Hua Tian frowned with concern: “The Peak Master is strong, but stealing primordial qi from primordial cultivators... it’s too hard...”
Hua Ning fell silent, her mind involuntarily recalling the figure of the gray-robed elder.
She lowered her voice: “Don’t forget Elder Jiang... that old man—I always feel he...”
“Feel what?” Hua Tian turned her head.
“Beyond comprehension.”
Hua Ning said firmly.
In truth, her feeling wasn’t just “beyond comprehension.”
She had even sensed a subtle connection emanating from that old man.
The sensation was too strange—and she realized her sister felt nothing similar.
So she had never mentioned it to anyone.
“Elder Jiang really has some skill...”
Hua Tian nodded slightly, but before she could finish,
BOOM—!!!
A thunderous roar suddenly erupted from the summit.
Hua Ning and Hua Tian both leapt up from their stone benches, eyes snapping toward the peak.
There, the spiritual energy that had long been coiled and still now began to churn and boil violently.
