Chapter 24: Initial Alchemy Experiment

There were not particularly many patients coming for medical treatment; after all, this clinic of Ning Feiliu's had only just opened not long ago.

It was precisely because that old lady had been cured that he gained some publicity here.

But in the end, his reputation had yet to be established, and these dozen or so patients only came here because the medical treatment was cheap, holding the attitude of treating a dead horse as if it were a live one.

Unexpectedly, it was truly as they had spread by word of mouth: this young Doctor Ning possessed superb medical skills, and he had a kind heart, allowing them to receive treatment without spending much money.

In truth, Ning Feiliu's medical skills could not be considered all that superb; after all, he had indeed only just started learning Pharmacology not long ago.

It was only because of his Task Cheat that he had easily and firmly memorized the theoretical knowledge.

However, he did not yet have much practical experience in treating people.

Alchemy experience, on the other hand... he had maxed that out from Singed and Renata in his tasks.

But clearly, alchemy experience was not something to be used for treating people right now.

Fortunately, however, those coming for treatment at this time were all suffering from minor illnesses and pains; no dying people plagued by serious diseases had run over here.

Ning Feiliu could not help but reveal a smile of harvest.

Ning Feiliu smiled helplessly and said, "In any case, Sister Yan, I am not as good as you imagine."

Thus, Ning Feiliu also finished handling the patients one by one.

It was just that Ning Feiliu had no way to tell Dugu Yan directly that he possessed a Task Cheat, so he could only say that he had also gained something.

After all, this matter actually had nothing to do with Dugu Yan, yet Dugu Yan had come over and stayed busy with him for an entire afternoon...

The most serious case was merely a child with a high fever, whom he had focused on giving emergency treatment and saved.

He was indeed not some saint with universal compassion; treating these commoners was merely for the sake of his own tasks.

"... Go back and continue taking the medicine according to the prescription."

Dugu Yan, at his side, took in this trace of a smile, and a hint of a smile also appeared in the depths of her eyes.

Sure enough, Dugu Yan looked at him with a playful expression and said, "Gained something? You really are a big, big pushover! The kind that doesn't even look like a bad guy when pretending to be one!"

Ning Feiliu sent off the last patient, and after receiving one heartfelt expression of gratitude, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm fine, but you, little Feiliu, have been busy all afternoon; why did you seem so happy just now?" Dugu Yan looked at him with a smile and said, "Seeing these patients cured by you, you must be very happy in your heart, right? My big pushover~"

At the same time, the progress of those two tasks—treating illnesses and receiving heartfelt gratitude—had also increased quite a bit.

"Sister Yan, thank you for your hard work today as well." Ning Feiliu then looked at Dugu Yan beside him with some gratitude.

"Ahem, I am not happy because they recovered," Ning Feiliu said with a straight face, "I am only... happy because I also gained something myself."

【Obtain heartfelt gratitude from others; after collecting one hundred times, you can obtain the Wandering God's harvest—Life's Friendliness: When in contact with intelligent life, intimacy increases by ten percent, and the probability of an epiphany increases by one percent. (Currently 70 times short)】

But looking at the change in the task that had appeared before his eyes once again.

【Heal 100 sick patients to obtain the Verdant God's gift—increase Pharmacology learning ability by ten percent. (Currently 81 times short)】

"Thank you... thank you, little Doctor Ning!"

"Hmph hmph! I don't care if you're a good person or a bad person." Dugu Yan stood up and clapped her hands, "Anyway, you are my little brother now; I'll cover you from now on!"

Ning Feiliu's mouth twitched a few times, but he still said, "As long as you are happy, Sister Yan."

What could he do now?

He was not older than Dugu Yan, he couldn't beat Dugu Yan, and even his soul power level was definitely not as high as Dugu Yan's...

So he could only accept it.

However, Dugu Yan could be considered the first friend he had made since coming to this world...

Speaking of this, the look in Ning Feiliu's eyes as he watched Dugu Yan softened slightly.

"Not good, I have to go back." Dugu Yan looked at the sky outside growing dark, stood up directly, and walked out quickly.

"See you here tomorrow! Little Feiliu!"

Ning Feiliu watched Dugu Yan run out quickly, and in an instant, she was nowhere to be seen.

He shook his head helplessly, then smiled lightly, "Actually, this girl is quite a good person."

After Ning Feiliu returned, there was nothing more to say for the night; after finishing a night banquet that felt nothing like a family atmosphere, he once again faced the clear radiance of the emerald moon in the night sky and practiced the Moonlight Breathing Method for the entire night.

Over these past few days, he had gradually grown accustomed to that strange banquet atmosphere; in fact, simply treating it as enjoying fine food and ignoring that atmosphere was also acceptable.

Coupled with studying medical books and practicing at night, this made his life slightly monotonous, but extremely fulfilling.

The next day, Ning Feiliu arrived at the laboratory early in the morning once again.

Today, his custom-made glass laboratory equipment finally arrived, and Ning Feiliu decided to begin the experiment.

Relying on the rich alchemy experience of the two alchemy masters in his mind, he separated various chemical components from the acid-numb root in just one morning.

According to the detoxification pill prescription native to the Douluo Continent, which required soaking the acid-numb root in warm water and then grinding it into a paste, he used a water-solubility method and then distilled and extracted these seven different components at various temperatures.

Then, he began the experiment to determine which chemical component was the effective ingredient that could successfully inhibit the venom of the Water-Dazzle Nether Snake.

For this, Ning Feiliu specifically purchased a batch of poultry—Kun Ge.

Actually, it would have been best to use white mice as the subjects for the initial live experiment, but unfortunately, in Heaven Dou City, these pure white mice were sold as pets.

Five Silver Soul Coins each—you tell me how one could dare to buy them for experiments!

So Ning Feiliu had no choice but to use Kun Ge for the experiment first, and he would raise a batch of white mice himself later.

And fortunately, the alchemy master Singed, during his time as an apprentice... had also personally raised white mice.

Moreover, Singed had quite a bit of experience in raising white mice.

That was a story for another time; Ning Feiliu directly injected a trace amount of Water-Dazzle Nether Snake venom into the bodies of the Kun Ge one by one.

Then, he injected the chemical components extracted from the acid-numb root.

Finally, he slowly observed their condition.

Sure enough, after an hour passed, only one of the seven Kun Ge remained full of vigor, while the other six were all listless.

"This is the effective component that can inhibit the Water-Dazzle Nether Snake venom!" Ning Feiliu picked up the pale purple liquid that had been extracted and said with a smile, "Let's name it Anti-Nether Snake Purple Hemp Alkaloid!"

The plant alkaloid within the sour-numbing root is the key medicinal ingredient for neutralizing the venom of the Water Dazzle Underworld Snake; next, he can use starch to create a medicinal shell to encapsulate this active ingredient, and this medicine will definitely be much more effective than the previous detoxification pills, and it should also have no side effects.

Next, he began conducting other experiments until Dugu Yan came to find him at noon.
