Chapter 169: Gu Lei Sub-division Concludes; Heaven Dou Division Reaches White-Hot Stage

The Gu Lei Royal Academy achieved a ten-game winning streak in this sub-division preliminary tournament with a momentum that swept away everything in its path.

The second-place Exotic Beast Academy was also completely crushed, and with five matches remaining, Nan Feihuang had lost all interest.

For the next few days, he did not take the stage again, and even Dian Wei did not need to step up.

Xun Yu leading Jia Kui and the others was enough to win easily; this was also to let them become more familiar with Xun Yu's battle formations.

Currently, dealing with these weak academies, Xun Yu alone was sufficient, but if they were to encounter the Spirit Hall Academy, they would still need everyone's help.

More importantly, it was for the future; the main goal of Xun Yu training these battle formations was not for a mere tournament, but for future battles against higher-level Spirit Masters.

This was a very correct decision, because the Elephant Armor Academy was too extreme; for one, although their defense was strong, it was all physical defense, their mental strength was not particularly outstanding, and they could not defend against the Seven Shura Illusion.

Secondly, they had no Control System Spirit Master; for instance, Shui Bing'er of Tianshui Academy and Huo Wu of Blazing Academy possessed very formidable control soul skills, the Resistive Ice Ring and Fire Ring, respectively. Sensing something was wrong, they immediately relied on these soul skills to repel the Canghui students who were about to fuse, causing them to return empty-handed.

Due to Shrek's performance in this tournament, which could only be described as decent and not as terrifying as the original, Shi Nian did not pay too much attention to Tang San.

As long as there was an excellent Control System Spirit Master on the opposing team, they could steadily suppress the Elephant Armor Academy, such as Shui Bing'er, Lei Dong, or Huo Wu.

Blazing Academy defeated Kamikaze Academy, Elephant Armor Academy, and Shrek, but lost to Tianshui and Thunder Sect; their win count was the same as Tianshui, but because they lost to Tianshui, they were ranked fourth.

Once Tang San fell, the others seemed to lose their backbone and their formation fell into complete chaos; first, Dai Mubai was tightly entangled by Huo Wushuang, and Zhu Zhuqing tried several times to rush over to help.

Currently, the leading group of academies had already pulled a significant distance away from those behind them.

"We obey the King's command!" the two teams replied in unison.

Moreover, among them, there were wins and losses for everyone.

The order of matches for this tournament was slightly different from the original work, and several major elite academies met one after another in the first few matches.

Because he lost his fire immunity, Tang San's Blue Silver Grass was countered too severely; he did not have the Eight Spider Lances, and he dared not reveal the Clear Sky Hammer, so he ended up being beaten soundly by Huo Wu, who was also a Control System Spirit Master, and all his Blue Silver Grass was burned away.

That was Canghui Academy.

Not long after, Dai Mubai was also defeated in low spirits; having just reached level 41, his soul power was ultimately not as deep as the level 43 Huo Wushuang.

By the end, only Ma Hongjun was left in Shrek, struggling to hold on; although his fire was far stronger than that of the Blazing Academy, firstly his level was not as high as his opponent's, and secondly, two fists could not beat four hands, so he ultimately could not block the joint attack of the siblings Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang.

The one finally chosen was the Elephant Armor Academy.

The above four academies had basically locked in their qualification rights, because apart from Shrek and the other elite Element Academies, other small academies had absolutely no power to resist when encountering them.

Once the Seven Shura Illusion appeared, the entire team became lambs waiting to be slaughtered, and they ultimately suffered a crushing defeat to the dark horse, Canghui Academy.

Jia Chong was entrusted by Nan Tianchen; with Lan Xue and Dugu Bo away, he was the number one expert in the country, while Long Gong was a guest elder of the Exotic Beast Academy, which was why Meng Yiran, a Tool Spirit Spirit Master, was enrolled in an academy like Exotic Beast, which consisted mostly of Beast Spirit Spirit Masters.

Shrek's strength was still not weak; even if it was not as unstoppable as in the original work, under the amplification of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, their overall strength was still not below that of the five major academies, though they did suffer a crushing defeat to Blazing Academy in one match.

At the same time, in the Heaven Dou Empire main division, the competition had just entered a white-hot stage; after all, there were many teams here, and many strong teams as well.

Jia Kui, Zhang Xingcai, and the others were all loyal subjects of the Gu Lei Kingdom, and naturally, they were the core team Nan Feihuang wanted to develop.

"Then, please have a good rest, everyone. Tomorrow morning, we will lead you to the Heaven Dou Empire to prepare for the Promotion Tournament matches." Jia Chong and Long Gong stepped forward.

Thirdly, the Elephant Armor Academy lacked the attack speed of the Thunder Sect and Kamikaze Academy; they could only play defense-counter, and they simply had no right to initiate.

They defeated the Elephant Armor Academy, but lost to Kamikaze, Blazing, Thunder, and Tianshui.

Originally, Shi Nian's plan should have been considered very smooth; relying on this victory, by the time all twenty-six matches were over, they would have finished with a record of twenty-two wins and four losses, qualifying in fifth place.

Relying on their Seven-in-One Fusion Skill, the Seven Shura Illusion.

As for the last qualification spot, there were only two families left with hope, and one of them was the original protagonist group, Shrek Academy.

Kamikaze Academy defeated Thunder, Tianshui, Elephant Armor, and Shrek, but lost to Blazing, ranking first for the time being; this could be considered well-deserved, as they were originally the strongest among the current Five Elements Academies. As for the reason for losing to Blazing, those who know, know—their captain and ace was practically about to defect to the other side, so how could they not lose?

Thunder Sect defeated Shrek, Elephant Armor, Tianshui, and Blazing, losing only to Kamikaze; although they also lost one match, because the one they lost to was exactly Kamikaze, they were ranked second.

And the other one was not Elephant Armor; because the Elephant Armor Academy had lost six matches, it had completely lost hope of advancing. It was said that Huyan Zhen's face had been black for these past few days; after all, he had made bold claims before the tournament that the Elephant Armor Academy's goal was the top three of this tournament, yet he did not expect that they could not even achieve the most basic qualification.

There was no helping it; other academies were keeping pace with the times and starting to follow the fusion route of the Spirit Hall, while only they still clung to the extreme route of decades ago, unable to adapt. The entire team consisted of Defense-Type Soul Masters, their speed was so slow, and they had no control or support; once they really started fighting, they were just living targets for other teams.

Soon, the Gu Lei sub-division preliminary tournament was completely over.

The Gu Lei Royal Academy Team obtained the qualification for the Promotion Tournament with a fifteen-game winning streak, while the Exotic Beast Academy came in second with fourteen wins and one loss.

To ensure qualification, he decided to use the Seven Shura Illusion on one of the Five Elements Academies.

Nan Tianchen looked at the two teams ranked side-by-side at the front and nodded with satisfaction, "Everyone, you are all elites of my Gu Lei Kingdom. Seeing that you are all so outstanding, I am very gratified. I hope you will not be arrogant in victory or discouraged in defeat, practice hard, face every match seriously, and be able to continue to show your style in this All-Continent Soul Master Academy Tournament and achieve a glorious result for my Gu Lei Kingdom."

However, no one paid attention to him at this moment, because everyone's attention was elsewhere; besides Shrek and the other Element Academies, there was another one that had also defeated the Elephant Armor Academy.

They were the ones responsible for leading the Gu Lei Royal Academy and the Exotic Beast Academy, respectively.

Tianshui defeated Shrek, Elephant Armor, and Blazing, but lost to Kamikaze and Thunder, ranking third; however, Shui Bing'er clearly still held back some strength. Because of the changes in the schedule, she could basically ensure that she had already qualified, so she was in no hurry to reveal her trump cards.

But how could Huo Wu let her have her way so easily? With one move of the Resistive Fire Ring, she completely separated her from Dai Mubai, and then the Agility Attack System Spirit Ancestor Huo Lie suddenly attacked, relying on his faster speed to easily knock Zhu Zhuqing out of the arena, followed by the two Support System masters, Oscar and Ning Rongrong, who were also knocked down by Huo Xing.

With two Spirit Douluo leading the team, there would basically be no problems regarding safety.

It was just that running back and forth between the Empire and the Kingdom was a bit tiring.

Fortunately, a tournament like this only happened once every five years.

Shrek, Kamikaze, Tianshui, Thunder, and Blazing—the win counts of these major academies were all about the same, belonging to the first-tier leading group.

This defeat greatly changed the rankings of all the teams.

Academies like Oakland were currently 0-22, with only four matches left; even if they won them all, it would be useless, as they had completely lost hope of advancing.

But who would have known that this year there would be another dark horse; Shrek's current win-loss record was exactly the same as theirs, both at eighteen wins and four losses.

The two teams had not yet met.

Everyone knew that when they did meet, it would be the match that locked in the final qualification spot.
