Chapter 262: Learning the Overlord Halberd Technique: The Rules of Slaughter City

~7 min read 1,390 words

The black-armored knight accelerated suddenly on his warhorse, charging straight at Nan Feihuang with a long spear brimming with heavy killing intent.

"Immortal-Slaying Soul-Extinguishing!" Nan Feihuang, holding the Fangtian Halberd, unleashed the Overlord Halberd Technique and brushed past the black-armored knight.

In an instant, the warhorse neighed in agony, the opponent's offensive came to an abrupt halt, and the black-armored knight's body suddenly cracked all over, bursting with countless spurts of blood.

Immortal-Slaying Soul-Extinguishing is the first move of the Overlord Halberd Technique, and also its opening stance.

The Overlord Halberd Technique is divided into seven basic forms, twenty-one moves, and three Peerless Skills.

The seven forms are as follows.

First form: Immortal-Slaying Soul-Extinguishing;

Second form: Slaughter God Shattering;

Third form: Demon-Subduing Shadow-Severing;

Fourth form: Demon-Taming Wild Dance;

Fifth form: Ghost-Slaying World-Dominance;

Sixth form: Overlord Aura Rampage;

Seventh form: Heaven-Swallowing Earth-Destroying.

Each form contains three variations, possessing incomparable power.

Adding the final three Peerless Skills—Overlord Horizontal Block, Overlord Lifting the Tripod, and Strength to Uproot Mountains and Spirit to Cover the World—completes the entire set of the halberd technique.

"Using this move as a greeting gift for this Slaughter City is not bad at all." Nan Feihuang retracted the Fangtian Halberd and turned to walk into Slaughter City.

"Wait!" Just then, that knight stopped him again.

"Don't seek your own death. I didn't hold back just now; if I weren't just beginning to learn the Overlord Halberd Technique, you would have gone to Hell by now. If you don't want to die, find a place to treat your injuries and stop blocking me." Nan Feihuang looked at him coldly and said.

"I don't intend to block you anymore; rather, you have passed the test and have the qualifications to enter Slaughter City. Therefore, you must take your assigned number before entering the city. Once inside, someone will naturally guide you."

The black-armored knight handed a black plaque to Nan Feihuang; a skull was carved on the plaque, and below it was a number: 8733.

Looking at this number, Nan Feihuang remembered that Tang San's number was 9528. He had arrived much earlier than him, so his number was also much lower.

In the original story, Tang San and Hu Liena came only after a long period of cultivation following the Soul Master Tournament.

Nan Feihuang, however, came directly. If he could complete one hundred victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena within a year or so, he might be able to obtain the Killing God Domain and leave before they even arrived.

The black-armored knight delivered the plaque and then mounted his horse to leave. Although he was not afraid of death, he did not want to die either; he was surely going to find a place to heal his wounds.

Nan Feihuang could not be bothered to hunt him down, so he put away the plaque and walked toward the city gate again.

On the pitch-black city tower, the four large characters "Slaughter City" hung high. In front of the gate, two rows of black-armored warriors, just like the knight from before, stood silently. As soon as Nan Feihuang showed his identification plaque, the gate slowly opened.

A woman with a black veil over her face and a graceful figure walked out from the city and said in a crisp, pleasant voice, "Welcome to Slaughter City."

"You must be the guide that knight mentioned. Please lead the way!" Nan Feihuang followed the woman into Slaughter City quite naturally.

This was a dim world. Many lanterns hung along the sides of the streets, and there were quite a few houses and people in the city. Aside from being rather gloomy, it did not seem much different from the outside world.

"Hello, sir, or should I say, young man. I am your guide. You may ask me about anything you do not understand. For the next twelve hours, I will protect your safety and answer all your questions. After twelve hours, this will be where you live. You will also formally become a member of Slaughter City," the black-veiled woman said.

"I have heard that the rule here is that there are no rules. Is that true?" Nan Feihuang asked.

The woman nodded, "It is true, in a sense. However, strictly speaking, rather than saying there are no rules, it is more accurate to say there are no laws. Places like the outer city and the Hell Slaughter Arena still require adherence to some rules. But in the inner city, as a member of Slaughter City, you can do anything here. Even if a Title Douluo from the outside world comes here, they will become weak because their soul skills disappear. And under the rule of the Slaughter King, we have no need to fear them. In Slaughter City, as long as you have sufficient ability, you can do anything you want. But I must warn you: precisely because there are no rules here, you may face fatal danger at any time. In a sense, this is a paradise for sin."

Nan Feihuang shook his head and said, "I meant, does the inability to use soul skills count as a rule?"

He had just entered and discovered a secret: he could feel that among his two martial souls, the spirit rings of the Fangtian Halberd could indeed not be released, but the Dunjia Heavenly Book did not seem to be affected at all.

He did not know what was going on, so just to be safe, he decided to ask a little.

Hearing Nan Feihuang's words, the black-veiled woman was stunned, "Of course that doesn't count. However, you absolutely will not be able to use them. Here, only those permitted by the Slaughter King and the Slaughter Gods who have passed the Hell Road can use soul skills. For example, our law enforcement team is composed of several Spirit Douluos permitted by the Slaughter King to use soul skills, as well as one Title Douluo."

This was the true foundation of Slaughter City.

Unless one reached the Super Douluo stage, an ordinary Title Douluo who could not use soul skills would, nine times out of ten, be unable to defeat some high-level Spirit Douluos.

This was even more true when facing a Title Douluo who could use soul skills. This was the biggest reason why no one had been able to leave through the city gates for so many years.

It was just unknown what level this law enforcement team captain was.

If they were Level 95 or above, then in this Slaughter City, apart from the Slaughter King, they could truly be considered invincible.

"You don't need to worry; their only task is to prevent people in Slaughter City from leaving the city without permission. One can only enter here, not leave. They won't care about anything else. If you can use soul skills by your own ability, that is fine too. I said, there are no rules here. However, using soul skills is simply impossible; even a Title Douluo cannot do it."

"Enough, take me to the Hell Slaughter Arena." Nan Feihuang did not want to argue about anything and said straightforwardly. He did not come here to play; killing his way out as soon as possible was his most important goal.

"Nothing else to ask? It seems you did some research on Slaughter City before coming here." The black-veiled woman could tell that Nan Feihuang was not like those fallen ones from the past, or criminals who had to flee to Slaughter City because they were being hunted by the Spirit Hall.

No wonder the Slaughter King had told her to pay extra attention to this person before she came to receive him; this person had little hatred in his heart and could completely suppress it, his mind being incomparably clear.

The only reason such a person would come here was to train, and then obtain the Killing God Domain to rush out of Slaughter City.

The black-veiled woman sneered at this. In the history of Slaughter City, there had been no shortage of such people, but those who had successfully obtained the Killing God Domain and left could be counted on two hands.

Nan Feihuang was truly too young, younger than all previous trainees.

A fledgling like this would likely not survive three days here.
