Chapter 75: Human-faced Demon Spider

~7 min read 1,363 words

The Titanic Giant Ape came close, and seeing that Zhao Wuji blocking it had only seven Soul Rings, a distinctly human‑like expression of disdain flashed in its eyes.

It swatted at Zhao Wuji as casually as shooing away a fly, slamming a palm onto him.

At once, Zhao Wuji felt his internal organs as if about to explode, spitting a mouthful of fresh blood, with blood seeping continuously from his eyes, nose, and ears, his body soaring away like a cannonball. Fortunately, his martial soul was the defensive Mighty Vajra Bear; had it been Fland, he might have been killed on the spot.

After eliminating Zhao Wuji as an obstacle, the Titanic Giant Ape continued to chase Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu, apparently terrified by the ape, staggered and fell to the ground, unable to rise; the pursuing ape seized her in its hand. Then the ape let out two roars and turned away.

The bizarre actions of the Titanic Giant Ape and Xiao Wu baffled everyone, yet Tang San, upon seeing the scene, showed no doubt, his eyes blood‑red, looking like a mad demon, and shouted hoarsely, "Xiao Wu! Let go of Xiao Wu!"

Tang San thrust his legs into the ground, sprinted toward Oscar, and roared, "Oscar, make me a few Flying Mushroom Intestines, quickly!"

Oscar had intended to advise Tang San, but was stunned by the shout. Seeing Tang San's frantic demeanor, the already timid Oscar dared not refuse, and kept chanting incantations, producing a Flying Mushroom Intestine.

Tang San saw Oscar already holding five or six Flying Mushroom Intestines, snatched one, ate it, sprouted wings on his back, and without looking back, pursued the direction the Titanic Giant Ape had fled.

Yu Tianyun, seeing Tang San depart, placed the three women on the ground as if worried for his safety, and said gravely, "I'll chase after and watch Tang San so he doesn't do anything foolish; you all go check on Teacher Zhao's condition first."

After speaking, without giving the three women a chance to stay, Yu Tianyun flapped his Dragon Wings and followed behind Tang San.

The three women instantly felt anxious, stamping their feet in irritation, while praying that Yu Tianyun would return safely.

Oscar only then realized his mistake, instantly filled with regret: "What have I done? How could I foolishly give all the Flying Mushroom Intestines to Tang San, causing Leader Yu Tianyun to chase after him? If Teacher Zhao finds out, he'll beat me to death!"

Meanwhile, Tang San ate a Flying Mushroom Intestine every minute, maintaining the flight speed of a Phoenix-tail Rooster Comb Snake, his eyes fixed ahead, trying to spot the Titanic Giant Ape. However, the ape's forward speed far outstripped that of a millennia‑old Phoenix-tail Rooster Comb Snake, and moreover the ape did not always move in a single direction. Tang San simply could not catch up.

It was night, and the the Star Dou Great Forest was already thick with trees, rendering the surroundings pitch‑black. Tang San grew increasingly anxious, pushing his Purple Extreme Demon Eye to its limit, hoping to locate the Titanic Giant Ape.

Suddenly a massive net surged from the darkness, aiming to ensnare Tang San. Relying on the keen sight granted by his Purple Extreme Demon Eye, Tang San instantly noticed it, quickly slipping sideways along the ground, narrowly avoiding it.

Tang San landed on the ground, and compared with the air, his ghost‑like evasive technique made him more adept at ground combat.

At that moment, he also saw clearly what was attacking him.

It was a jet‑black giant spider, as dark as the Titanic Giant Ape, about 1.5 m in diameter, with eight spear‑like legs three meters long, its shell glossy black, the sharp legs silently piercing the ground as it moved, and a grotesquely twisted human face on its underside.

Tang San's complexion changed dramatically; gritting his teeth, he uttered the Soul Beast's name: "Evil Slayer, Human‑faced Demon Spider!"

It was a millennium‑level Human‑faced Demon Spider; Tang San was far from confident, a warning bell rang in his mind as he stared intently at the spider, unwilling to act rashly.

At that instant, Yu Tianyun flew over, hovering in the air, shouting, "Tang San, keep looking for Xiao Wu; I'll handle this Human‑faced Demon Spider."

Tang San, seeing Yu Tianyun arrive, was first startled; hearing her words, a trace of gratitude rose in his heart: 'I didn't expect Yu Tianyun to risk coming for me; I even resented him before! But Xiao Wu still waits for my rescue, so I must ask his help, consider it a favor I owe him!'

So he shouted to Yu Tianyun, "Yu Tianyun, consider that I, Tang San, owe you a favor; block the Human‑faced Demon Spider for me!"

After speaking, Tang San ate another tiny Flying Mushroom Intestine from Oscar, and flew deeper into the forest. Meanwhile, Yu Tianyun flew to the Human‑faced Demon Spider's front, blocking its path.

Seeing the human bearing massive Dragon Wings before it, the Human‑faced Demon Spider sensed a hint of danger emanating from Yu Tianyun, a vague urge to retreat, and slowly lifted its eight spear‑like legs, stepping back.

Yu Tianyun, seeing the spider's movement, smirked disdainfully, "Want to run? There's no exit!"

As the words fell, a cold gleam flashed in Yu Tianyun's eyes; in an instant, his right hand swept, unleashing five dark‑gold, razor‑sharp rays toward the Human‑faced Demon Spider.

The rays sliced through the void like lightning, moving so fast it was almost overwhelming, reaching the spider in the blink of an eye.

The Human‑faced Demon Spider's grotesque compound eyes filled with terror, yet it had no time to react.

"Puff—! Puff—! Puff—!" Four blade‑into‑flesh sounds rang almost simultaneously, accompanied by splashes of ink‑green slime; the spider's four right‑side legs were instantly sliced off.

Each leg fell to the ground, each split into five pieces by the terrifying force, a gruesome, horrifying sight.

"Thud!" The sound the Human‑faced Demon Spider made as it crashed heavily to the ground after losing its leg support.

At that moment, a wailing howl continuously emanated from the spider's grotesque maw, like a lament from hell.

The remaining legs scrambled into the ground, trying to drag the already shattered body away from the horror.

Yu Tianyun snorted coldly; his handsome face now bore a hint of ruthlessness. He would not simply let the spider go, nor give it a quick end, for he knew that a Soul Beast's chance of birthing a soul bone rises only under extreme resentment. In an instant, Yu Tianyun performed a Dragon Transformation of his right arm, vanished like a phantom, and appeared before the spider. His Dragon Claw, covered in hard scales like forged steel, tightly grasped the spider's sharp right fore‑leg, easily lifting its massive body. Then his right arm muscles bulged, releasing a tremendous force that hammered the ground.

The spider's maw expelled a foul‑smelling ink‑green slime, which splashed onto the ground, instantly corroding into several smoke‑rising pits. Yu Tianyun, mercilessly, struck again, hurling the spider in the opposite direction.

This continuous pounding, though not rapid, seemed deliberately to give the spider time to feel endless agony.

Each strike raised a cloud of dust, and the ground was pocked with large craters.

After about ten breaths, the spider's right fore‑leg finally gave way, snapping at the root with a crisp "crack".

But Yu Tianyun did not release it; with a cold stare he grasped the second leg and kept pounding the ground mercilessly.

Time passed second by second; after roughly two minutes, all the spider's legs fell off, collapsing on the ground like a heap of sludge.

Yu Tianyun slightly furrowed his brows and sighed, "So flimsy; looks like I'll have to think of another method."

After a moment's thought, Yu Tianyun's Dragon Claw extended two fingers, coiled with a powerful electric current glowing faint blue, and with a "pzzzt!" it swiftly pierced the spider's hard shell.

Simultaneously, he regulated a "trace" current into the spider's body, the electricity raging inside, causing its frame to shudder and convulse.

After a breath, he quickly withdrew it and thrust it forcefully into another spot (End of chapter).
