Chapter 319: The Young Lady and the Butler

Eh…… Water-Fire Prince, Dragon King Knight, Master of Raging Water and Tyrant of Fire, Wulin, you really have many impressive titles.

Hearing Huo Yutong's words, Tang Wulin nearly spat out the food in his mouth, and said helplessly:

"Yutong, what are you talking about?"

Huo Yutong shook the newspaper in her hand.

"Here, what I said are all from the newspaper. This is a special column for this competition, used to give outstanding participants titles. You really have an astonishing number of titles."

"......"

Tang Wulin wished these titles could be more normal, especially the last one—what the hell is that?

Huo Yutong put down the newspaper, took a paper to wipe the rice grains from Tang Wulin's mouth, and said gently: "All right, don't be gloomy; think from another angle—doesn't this show your plan is going smoothly?"

"...... Hmm."

That's indeed true.

Just now, most of the nicknames on the newspaper were inseparable from the words water and fire; clearly, the public's deepest impression of him is still his ability to control water and fire.

After yesterday's match ended, Tang Wulin, the Tang Sect captain who was the first to achieve the feat of sweeping seven opponents in this tournament, became the focus of everyone's attention.

He's handsome, strong, and his abilities are trendy—such a person easily wins favor.

As a result, the column for giving him nicknames received even more responses than the one for Meng Hongchen.

This is good for him; the deeper the public's impression of his water-fire control, the more likely they are to overlook his physical skills.

He swallowed the last bite of rice and looked at Huo Yutong.

"Shall we set off?"

Huo Yutong covered her mouth and chuckled lightly.

"Sure, from now on I'll rely on you to protect me, my butler."

The two were preparing to participate in the Bright Capital Soul Engineer Elite Competition.

To participate in this competition, they naturally couldn't use their original identities, so they both underwent disguise and fabricated new identities.

Huo Yutong's original blue hair was changed to black, her eyes turned gold, and her demeanor was somewhat altered; originally, people saw her as gentle and kind, but now most would first think of a mischievous little devil who loves pranks.

Tang Wulin also made some adjustments, lowering his looks considerably; although he still counts as handsome, he no longer shines as before, and wearing a suit, he truly looks like a butler.

Their current identity setup is that of a fallen noble family's young lady and the butler who has looked after her since childhood.

After all, regarding the Soul Engineer competition, Tang Wulin really can't help much in this aspect, so he can only serve as her bodyguard.

He felt somewhat guilty for being useless, but Huo Yutong obviously didn't think so; even now, her gaze at Tang Wulin is bright and sparkling, showing she's very pleased with his appearance.

... Forget it, as long as she's happy.

Tang Wulin let out a faint sigh in his heart, then nodded and said:

"Then let's go; being late wouldn't be good." The two then left the hotel and headed toward the competition venue.

He Caitou didn't act with them, because he went to another competition site.

There are three underground forces organizing this Soul Engineer competition; after serious thought, Tang Wulin decided they shouldn't put all their eggs in one basket and should act separately.

The main participants of the Plain Alliance are mostly women, so the tall and sturdy He Caitou is clearly unsuitable; thus he went to the Au Du Chamber of Commerce.

And Tang Wulin and Huo Yutong naturally chose the greatest power, the Sunset Water Alliance.

Having finally caught a clue to this Evil Soul Master organization, they certainly won't let it slip.

The preliminary venue of the Sunset Water Alliance is an upscale hotel in the city center; one reason for choosing it is that it's close enough to the Bright Joy Hotel that they don't have to walk far.

Qingse Hotel, a hotel with a distinctive name, is only a little over a kilometer from the Bright Joy Hotel and about two kilometers from the Sun Moon Empire's imperial palace, placing it in an absolutely prime location.

However, this hotel's name is often misheard, easily mistaken for an erotic hotel, which is also how it got its name.

This is an enterprise of the Sunset Water Alliance; as for whether the alliance's headquarters is here, nobody knows.

On the surface, Qingse Hotel appears smaller than Bright Joy Hotel, with only five floors above ground; but those familiar with it understand that its true strength lies underground.

At the hotel's main entrance, four men over two meters tall, dressed in black tight-fitting combat attire, stood with icy gazes scrutinizing the passing crowd.

Tang Wulin and Huo Yutong walked to the door, about to enter, when a black-clad person raised a hand to block their path.

"The hotel is not open for business today; please leave."

Tang Wulin stepped forward, stood before Huo Yutong, and said amiably: "I and my young lady have come here to prepare for the Bright Capital Soul Engineer Elite Competition."

The black-clad sturdy man staggered for a moment, his expression visibly softening; soul engineers hold a far higher status in the Sun Moon Empire than in other countries, and offending a soul engineer, even if their rank is low, is absolutely not a wise choice.

He respectfully said: "Understood, Miss Soul Engineer; please go inside, this competition is being held underground."

While saying that, he stepped aside to make way.

Tang Wulin made a gesturing invitation, Huo Yutong smiled slightly, walked into the hotel, and Tang Wulin followed behind her.

Indeed, the interior of Qingse Hotel is very plain, simply furnished, giving no hint that it is the top-ranked underground power in Bright Capital, and moreover an important stronghold of the Sunset Water Alliance.

The hotel's decor has a moist feel everywhere, with white porcelain decorations, white porcelain floors and walls; all colors are mainly white and red, making Tang Wulin, who knows the truth of the Sunset Water Alliance, suspect it's a metaphor for white bones and blood.

Tang Wulin and Huo Yutong quickly found the entrance to the underground hall; after Huo Yutong displayed her forged soul engineer badge, the two descended to the hotel's basement.

This is a circular domed hall; the ceiling appears as if woven from countless gold lines arranged neatly and regularly, the huge dome provides ample light for the whole hall, rows of seats extend downward neatly, and around the perimeter there is a ring of upward-slanting escalators.

At the end of every soul-tool rolling ladder hangs a circular room suspended in midair, and with the naked eye one cannot see at all how these rooms are floating in the air.

There are eighteen of these floating rooms and soul-tool rolling ladders altogether, and they vaguely form a circle.

In the center of the hall is a circular platform with a diameter of over thirty meters; although it is far less wide than the competition stage of the Continental Youth Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament, it is still quite astonishing.
