Chapter 7: Wang Yan
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye two days passed; it was time for formal classes.
Tang Wulin arrived early at his classroom, excitedly observing the environment inside.
Some people were already seated in the classroom, most chatting with each other; upon seeing him enter, quite a few girls' eyes lit up, and they furtively observed him.
Unfortunately, after scanning the classroom, Tang Wulin glumly discovered that there wasn't a single person he knew.
Unlike Wang Dong's Freshman Class 1, his class was Freshman Class 7, and even the teaching building was different, so the two split ways on their route here.
Fortunately, around five minutes before class started, a familiar person walked into the classroom.
"Yutong Sis!"
Huo Yutong saw Tang Wulin and also showed a smile as if relieved, walking over to him.
"How are you doing these days, Wulin?"
"Not bad." Tang Wulin asked curiously, "Sis Yutong, aren't you and your roommate in the same class?"
Huo Yutong nodded helplessly.
"Yeah, she's in Class 1, I'm in Class 7."
"Me too; honestly, seeing the whole class full of strangers, I feel a bit disappointed."
Hearing that Huo Yutong had the same experience, Tang Wulin instantly felt a bit excited.
Huo Yutong couldn't help but chuckle.
"Really? But someone as good as you will surely make many friends even in this completely unfamiliar environment."
Saying that, she glanced at the classmates.
Next, her expression suddenly stiffened.
"Dai Huabin..."
"Sis Yutong?"
Listening to Huo Yutong's murmuring low voice full of resentment, Tang Wulin followed her gaze over.
That was a blond-haired, heterochromatic-eyed boy sitting with a beautiful black-haired girl; his expression was extremely stern, and despite people trying to talk to him, he remained unmoved.
He was…
Tang Wulin was about to ask Huo Yutong a question when a teacher around forty walked into the class, wearing a gentle smile, clapped his hands and said, "Alright, kids, quickly take your seats; I'm about to start the lesson."
Hearing his words, Huo Yutong silently left Tang Wulin's side and casually took a seat.
Tang Wulin's question got stuck in his throat, feeling very uncomfortable.
In his impression, Huo Yutong had always been a very gentle person, emotionally stable and kind-hearted.
The last time she showed emotions this close to hatred was when she first enrolled.
Tang Wulin recalled that back then she showed those feelings because he had asked her whether she knew a certain scumbag.
The emotions she displayed then were pretty much the same as now.
In other words, the scumbag she knows is Dai Huabin?! Tang Wulin was shocked by his own speculation.
Could it be that Sis Yutong was emotionally hurt by Dai Huabin, which is why she hates him so much? Tang Wulin only felt his inner self very uncomfortable; he wanted to ask Huo Yutong, but since the seats beside him were already filled with female classmates, Huo Yutong's chosen seat was relatively far from him.
Next time in class, he must definitely find a way to sit together with Huo Yutong; Tang Wulin secretly resolved in his heart.
Seeing that everyone had mostly taken their seats, the teacher on the stage began his self-introduction.
"Hello everyone, my name is Wang Yan; my teaching philosophy is to be friends with the students, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime, and I will do my best to answer."
No sooner had his words fallen than a student mischievously asked, "Teacher, do you have a girlfriend?"
Wang Yan's gaze instantly locked onto the student who asked the question; he adjusted his glasses and said with a smile, "Zhou Sichen, right? Teacher and I are both single, so if you have a suitable match, please be sure to introduce them to me."
Seeing Wang Yan actually answer, the atmosphere instantly became lively; there were questions about what his martial soul was, his age, which cafeteria set meal was most cost-effective, and even what color his underwear was today.
Wang Yan either answered directly or brushed it off with a joke, nearly perfectly answering all questions, causing the class atmosphere to become completely lively.
Even Tang Wulin, who originally had a heavy heart, was somewhat excited by the atmosphere.
After a few minutes, Wang Yan clapped his hands and said, "Alright, everyone quiet down; we still have class to attend."
Only then did the students gradually quiet down.
Wang Yan pushed his glasses up and said:
"Today is the first day of school; we won't go over any difficult knowledge—let's chat about our Shilake Academy."
Saying that, he called out, "Tang Wulin, can you stand up and answer a question for me?"
"Yes."
Tang Wulin quickly stood up.
Wang Yan smiled and asked:
"What is your understanding of Shilake Academy?"
Tang Wulin answered:
"It is the Mainland First Academy with a ten-thousand-year history."
"Correct." Wang Yan nodded and added, "At the same time, it is an academy that solely cultivates monsters."
He turned around, picked up chalk, and began writing names on the blackboard.
Beast Battling Arena, Library Pavilion, Dou Hun Qu, Soul Tool Testing Field...
As he wrote, he said:
"As you can see, these are our academy's important facilities; nearly all equipment is top-tier in the mainland. Here you may freely use these high-grade venues. Since you have entered the academy, I believe you are all outstanding among your peers and should know how to efficiently utilize surrounding resources. The academy's role is to provide assistance when you need resources. I believe that any student who wishes to learn will surely gain much here."
Having finished speaking, he also just finished writing; he turned around to introduce to the classmates:
"I believe you have also noticed Tang Wulin's differences; indeed, he is nine years old, having entered early due to special circumstances. Because of his young age, his level is at the bottom among his peers; I hope you will not discriminate against him, but instead befriend him, okay?"
"Okay!"
The students had already developed a fair amount of goodwill toward Wang Yan; naturally, they directly agreed to this not-too-demanding request.
Tang Wulin only felt a warm, toasty feeling in his heart.
He could hear the concern in Wang Yan's words; this teacher, whose style was completely different from Wu Changkong's, gave Tang Wulin a brand‑new experience.
Next, Wang Yan had Tang Wulin sit down and began to explain the Academy's points of attention.
His explanation was incisive, sorting the originally numerous and chaotic information into clear order; even Tang Wulin, who knew nothing about the Academy, felt he had gained a lot after listening to his lecture.
No wonder he's a teacher of the Mainland First Academy, Tang Wulin thought to himself.
Under Wang Yan's vivid and interesting narration, the flow of time seemed to speed up; in the blink of an eye the bell rang, and class was over.
Off‑topic, there are many reasons why Tang Wulin and Huo Yutong are in Wang Yan's class.
In the story, the reason is that Mu En is secretly pulling the strings behind the scenes, deliberately assigning a trusted teacher to guide the two children.
The out‑of‑story reason is that I was getting sick of Zhou Yi's plot; every novel that follows the "Shirley" line attacks her, she is indeed nauseating, but constantly contending with a great fairy feels really uninteresting, so she still appears in this book, yet her role is minimal and we won't spend much space describing her.
