Chapter 152: Turning Point
"We're already over, right!"
When the words fell, Yang Xin was stunned; Yang Xin knew the relationship with the girl in front of him had ended, yet still clung to hope.
But now, the hope no longer existed. All that remained was a stunned boy and a girl whose expression was calm, eyes full of resolve.
"No, that's not it; I think it was a joke, right?" Yang Xin forced out a smile uglier than crying, the bitterness in his heart churning, almost shedding tears.
Yang Xin knew this ending was inevitable, but never expected it to come so quickly.
"I just realized, you as well, I as well, the hurt we and he suffered is connected to you, right?" Wang Tingwan looked calmly at the person before her, her tone icy, her gaze at Yang Xin like a corpse.
In Wang Tingwan's eyes, and in her heart, the person before her was already dead; what remained was only something like a memory.
"Then, Tingwan, if I reveal the truth of that matter, would you stay by my side?" Yang Xin suddenly asked Wang Tingwan.
"What matter?" Wang Tingwan, upon hearing, felt very strange, prompting the next line, waiting for Yang Xin's reply.
Yang Xin's heart was still wrestling; he looked at Wang Tingwan, while his mind recalled Feng Yan, knowing the latter's relationship could not be restored, but the former might still be salvaged.
"Actually, here's how it is..."
"How could it be!" Wang Tingwan's eyes widened, her face extremely panicked, she shouted at Yang Xin: "Impossible! This is impossible! You're trying to deceive me again!"
Wang Tingwan spoke while moving away from Yang Xin, her heart filled with doubt and suspicion, wondering how much of the person's words could be trusted.
Yang Xin watched Wang Tingwan walk away, a smile at the corner of his mouth. He gazed at the surrounding white mist, the gloomy sky bringing unease, and said to her retreating figure: "You simply cannot rid yourself of such a weakness. Your will, or your nature, cannot make you do such a thing, so I await the moment you return to my side."
That is, the moment you completely lose self‑awareness, you weak‑willed girl.
"I oppose! Father King, if this happens our royal family's secret will vanish, our entire royal family will bring disaster!" Feng Yan looked up, seeing the speaker, wondering silently who it was.
Feng Yan followed the voice, his gaze landing on the Prince.
"Oh, why say that? Your treasure has uncovered the secret. You will bring disaster—what does that mean?" Feng Yan felt a bit displeased, yet respectfully answered the Prince, then posed a tricky question.
"Father King, do you still recall the Heaven River incident?" the Prince asked the king respectfully.
The king felt a chill down his spine, instantly recalling the recent event: a river of sky appeared, then a torrent poured to the ground, carving a riverbed…
"The Prince makes a valid point; I think the restoration of our national treasure should be discussed with other members of the royal family," the king said.
The Prince glanced sideways at Feng Yan, revealing a smug smile.
"Sir, what do you think?" the king asked Feng Yan.
"That's your matter, and it doesn't concern me!" Feng Yan said, then strode away.
As Feng Yan left, the king finally asked his son, "Child, what do you mean?"
"Father King, have you forgotten our royal family's legend?"
The king then recalled the ancient admonition, a saying passed down through generations of the royal family.
The ancient deity lifted the axe symbolizing authority.
With one swing, it split heaven and earth.
The deity exhausted its energy.
Collapsed onto the earth.
Blood.
Blood poured from the body.
Becoming a river.
Converging into the sea.
Mother Nature created life.
From then, the earth birthed life.
Heaven River emerged.
It was the beginning of disaster.
The axe's secret words.
Do not decipher them.
Hearing the Prince's reminder, the king recalled the ancient admonition, and cold sweat broke out on his back.
"But now I've already deciphered the treasure!" the king said, his voice trembling.
After the king finished speaking, his whole body kept shaking; he staggered, summoned the attendant servant, who supported him as he left.
The Prince watched his father being carried away by the attendant, then he himself slowly left the palace.
On the palace eaves, the two stared intently until Feng Yan stepped out of the palace doorway.
"Sir, Master Feng Yan has emerged; shall we go down?" Jin Meng, after seeing Feng Yan appear, turned to Chen Hao and asked.
"Let's follow first, see what kind of trouble Feng Yan will cause next," Chen Hao replied calmly, his eyes fixed on Feng Yan's direction.
"Hm?" Feng Yan felt something was off, as if someone was watching him from behind, but when he turned, there was no one; he shook his head and kept walking forward.
